  1. Thanks for the info guys. I figured that 7,500 would make more sense, since that is what Ford calls for. My only problem with that is it's been almost 6 months and only 5,000 miles since we bought it. I guess I'm just hesitant to let it go any longer than that. So now I completely messed up my maintenance schedule I guess, as I'll need to go back before 15,000 miles (which would be the next scheduled interval). Maybe I'll just pay for a oil change in between. Thanks again for the help!
  2. I went to the local dealer today for service (not the dealer I bought the Edge from). They pulled the Oasis report, which did show the plan, but it said every 7,500 miles. I could have sworn it was 5,000 miles, but I have no way to prove it at this point. The guy was cool about it though and forced it through, which will just affect my next service. Does anyone have any other information on the plan? I just want to verify that they signed me up for the right plan. Thanks for your help!
  3. Hi everyone- When we bought our Edge back in July, there was some kind of deal going on that provided a complimentary service plan for 24,000 miles. Unfortunately, I can't find any paperwork about it from the dealer. I'm coming up on 5,000 miles, which I think is when we can get our first service. I'm taking it to a local dealer who I didn't buy it from, so I want to make sure I have everything together before heading over there. Does anyone have any information on this plan? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Brian
  4. While not completely sure if this is how it works, I can say that my wife's iPod does not show any song titles or other information on the Nav screen. You can't even go to the next song using the steering wheel controls. Everything (except volume) must be done through the iPod itself. Anyone else have different results?
  5. We have the camel interior, and I can definitely see a "reflection" of the center stack as well as the rest of the dash. It's one of those things that you don't usually notice, but when you do, you can't stop looking for it. And I agree with whoever said it is a "reflection", not a "glare". In the right sun, I've noticed this on most of the cars I've ever driven. I certainly don't think it is a design flaw, just an occasional annoyance.
  6. I don't want to drift too far from the OP's original question, but a quick comment on the Nav. So far, I've found it to be fairly dead on. We drove up to NE PA last week, where I'm pretty much lost. When getting off the turnpike, I saw a sign for my destination that said to turn right. The Nav was telling me to turn left. So, questioning the accuracy of the GPS, I turned right. I never saw another sign, and drove around for ten minutes while ignoring the Nav. Finally I gave in, and sure enough, it took us directly to the location. Have I noticed a few roads that haven't been updated? Sure. Will it be better in some locations than others? Probably. I still think it beats the heck out of messing with a map or confusing online directions. Back to the Sync. I'm definitely interested in adding it on, especially since my wife tends to talk on her phone everywhere she drive, which scares me. I'm not sure I'm willing to spend $500+ however, when I can buy a portable bluetooth device that can be moved into different cars for about $100. I guess it all depends on whether or not the voice commands and text messaging capabilities are worth it to you. I'm still on the fence on this one.
  7. I totally understand your situation. I sat at one dealer while they called every dealership in five states who were showing this Edge in stock. At least half of them were dealer demos. The other half were either sold, or unwilling to give up the car. I actually felt bad for the guys who were doing this, as I could see they were as frustrated as I was. They showed me the printout they had, which had less than 20 Edges that matched what we wanted in all of NJ, PA, NY, MD, DE, and DC. Stick to the colors and options you really want, and hopefully something will come around soon. I had almost lost hope when I found ours, and I'm glad now that we didn't compromise on any of the things that we wanted. Good luck with your search!
  8. Thanks, and here is the link to the headrest thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...amp;hl=headrest
  9. While I'm not positive on this because I've never done it, I believe I read somewhere on here that there is a small pinhole that releases the headrests. After moving them into the upright position, use a paperclip (or something else small) to release the headrest entirely. Someone please correct me if I am completely wrong! -Brian
  10. Sometimes they run deals that include longer subscriptions to Sirius. I know the Escape has a Sun & Sound package that includes the moonroof and a year of Sirius. I'd be surprised to hear that they offered three years though.
  11. Yes, the two are the same. I believe Ford calls it "Dual Electronic Climate Control" as an option for the Edge. It is part of the premium package.
  12. Thanks for posting that article. I'm glad to see Ford is not overpricing Sync. Still no word on whether an '07 retrofit will be available? It would be nice, but with the on board computer and extra steering wheel buttons, I'm not sure it will be an option. Does anyone know more?
  13. Larry- I totally agree with the benefits of the package. When we were first looking, we saw an Explorer with the hitch through the bumper and my wife commented on how she didn't like the look of it. I had to agree with her, it was an eyesore, and it was really a pointless option to pay for since I have an F-150 I tow with. Once I realized the extras that came for $350, and the fact that it was pretty well-hidden, it made it much easier to compromise. To be honest, the tougher compromise was probably the $750 on the chrome-clad wheels. These were another option that was difficult to avoid in a fully loaded SEL Plus. -Brian
  14. I read another thread that mentioned the heat problem. Is the issue mainly occurring with the darker exterior/interior colors? We have the Creme Brulee with Camel interior, and it has stayed rather cool in the heat (90's recently). It's a little warm inside, but no worse than my tan F-150, plus it cools down much quicker. Just wondering what others are experiencing, we love the BAMR!
  15. I meant to comment on the Sirius as well. I know my Fords both had 6 months of service, but I did see a special on an Escape that included a year. You can't beat having Sirius, I can't remember the last time I listened to FM radio. Be careful searching dealer inventories through the Ford website. I inquired about several Edges that were showing in inventory online, but were sold weeks ago. From what the salesperson was telling me, it all depends upon when the individual dealerships update their inventories. I was extremely disappointed with this, as we drove to a dealership with the understanding that we would be able to see the Edge we wanted (which the internet guy should have researched better). When we got there, they preceded to try to sell us every other Edge they had on the lot that did not match our preferences. Using Ford's corporate system or a dealer's search are probably the most reliable options.
