  1. Thanks for the info guys. I figured that 7,500 would make more sense, since that is what Ford calls for. My only problem with that is it's been almost 6 months and only 5,000 miles since we bought it. I guess I'm just hesitant to let it go any longer than that. So now I completely messed up my maintenance schedule I guess, as I'll need to go back before 15,000 miles (which would be the next scheduled interval). Maybe I'll just pay for a oil change in between. Thanks again for the help!
  2. I went to the local dealer today for service (not the dealer I bought the Edge from). They pulled the Oasis report, which did show the plan, but it said every 7,500 miles. I could have sworn it was 5,000 miles, but I have no way to prove it at this point. The guy was cool about it though and forced it through, which will just affect my next service. Does anyone have any other information on the plan? I just want to verify that they signed me up for the right plan. Thanks for your help!
  3. Hi everyone- When we bought our Edge back in July, there was some kind of deal going on that provided a complimentary service plan for 24,000 miles. Unfortunately, I can't find any paperwork about it from the dealer. I'm coming up on 5,000 miles, which I think is when we can get our first service. I'm taking it to a local dealer who I didn't buy it from, so I want to make sure I have everything together before heading over there. Does anyone have any information on this plan? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks, Brian
  4. While not completely sure if this is how it works, I can say that my wife's iPod does not show any song titles or other information on the Nav screen. You can't even go to the next song using the steering wheel controls. Everything (except volume) must be done through the iPod itself. Anyone else have different results?
  5. We have the camel interior, and I can definitely see a "reflection" of the center stack as well as the rest of the dash. It's one of those things that you don't usually notice, but when you do, you can't stop looking for it. And I agree with whoever said it is a "reflection", not a "glare". In the right sun, I've noticed this on most of the cars I've ever driven. I certainly don't think it is a design flaw, just an occasional annoyance.
  6. I don't want to drift too far from the OP's original question, but a quick comment on the Nav. So far, I've found it to be fairly dead on. We drove up to NE PA last week, where I'm pretty much lost. When getting off the turnpike, I saw a sign for my destination that said to turn right. The Nav was telling me to turn left. So, questioning the accuracy of the GPS, I turned right. I never saw another sign, and drove around for ten minutes while ignoring the Nav. Finally I gave in, and sure enough, it took us directly to the location. Have I noticed a few roads that haven't been updated? Sure. Will it be better in some locations than others? Probably. I still think it beats the heck out of messing with a map or confusing online directions. Back to the Sync. I'm definitely interested in adding it on, especially since my wife tends to talk on her phone everywhere she drive, which scares me. I'm not sure I'm willing to spend $500+ however, when I can buy a portable bluetooth device that can be moved into different cars for about $100. I guess it all depends on whether or not the voice commands and text messaging capabilities are worth it to you. I'm still on the fence on this one.
  7. I totally understand your situation. I sat at one dealer while they called every dealership in five states who were showing this Edge in stock. At least half of them were dealer demos. The other half were either sold, or unwilling to give up the car. I actually felt bad for the guys who were doing this, as I could see they were as frustrated as I was. They showed me the printout they had, which had less than 20 Edges that matched what we wanted in all of NJ, PA, NY, MD, DE, and DC. Stick to the colors and options you really want, and hopefully something will come around soon. I had almost lost hope when I found ours, and I'm glad now that we didn't compromise on any of the things that we wanted. Good luck with your search!
  8. Thanks, and here is the link to the headrest thread: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?sho...amp;hl=headrest
  9. While I'm not positive on this because I've never done it, I believe I read somewhere on here that there is a small pinhole that releases the headrests. After moving them into the upright position, use a paperclip (or something else small) to release the headrest entirely. Someone please correct me if I am completely wrong! -Brian
  10. Sometimes they run deals that include longer subscriptions to Sirius. I know the Escape has a Sun & Sound package that includes the moonroof and a year of Sirius. I'd be surprised to hear that they offered three years though.
  11. Yes, the two are the same. I believe Ford calls it "Dual Electronic Climate Control" as an option for the Edge. It is part of the premium package.
  12. Thanks for posting that article. I'm glad to see Ford is not overpricing Sync. Still no word on whether an '07 retrofit will be available? It would be nice, but with the on board computer and extra steering wheel buttons, I'm not sure it will be an option. Does anyone know more?
  13. Larry- I totally agree with the benefits of the package. When we were first looking, we saw an Explorer with the hitch through the bumper and my wife commented on how she didn't like the look of it. I had to agree with her, it was an eyesore, and it was really a pointless option to pay for since I have an F-150 I tow with. Once I realized the extras that came for $350, and the fact that it was pretty well-hidden, it made it much easier to compromise. To be honest, the tougher compromise was probably the $750 on the chrome-clad wheels. These were another option that was difficult to avoid in a fully loaded SEL Plus. -Brian
  14. I read another thread that mentioned the heat problem. Is the issue mainly occurring with the darker exterior/interior colors? We have the Creme Brulee with Camel interior, and it has stayed rather cool in the heat (90's recently). It's a little warm inside, but no worse than my tan F-150, plus it cools down much quicker. Just wondering what others are experiencing, we love the BAMR!
  15. I meant to comment on the Sirius as well. I know my Fords both had 6 months of service, but I did see a special on an Escape that included a year. You can't beat having Sirius, I can't remember the last time I listened to FM radio. Be careful searching dealer inventories through the Ford website. I inquired about several Edges that were showing in inventory online, but were sold weeks ago. From what the salesperson was telling me, it all depends upon when the individual dealerships update their inventories. I was extremely disappointed with this, as we drove to a dealership with the understanding that we would be able to see the Edge we wanted (which the internet guy should have researched better). When we got there, they preceded to try to sell us every other Edge they had on the lot that did not match our preferences. Using Ford's corporate system or a dealer's search are probably the most reliable options.
  16. We ran into a similar issue when looking for our Edge. Since my wife was stuck on Creme Brulee with Camel interior loaded with all the options, we really had to look around hard. One dealer I visited printed out every Edge that matched our preferences showing in inventories throughout NJ, NY, PA, MD, DE, and DC. There were less than 20, and after calling every one, we found out most were demos or sold. Luckily there was one dealer about an hour away that had the exact vehicle sitting on their lot. This time of the year is a great time to buy as far as incentives go, but difficult as well since you are basically dealing with what's left. None of the dealers I spoke with were able to order one for me, as they said they had reached their allowance of '07 Edges. It also doesn't help when you're negotiating the price when the salesperson knows that is the exact car you are looking for. Good luck tracking down your Edge! -Brian
  17. I'm with you 100% on that one, but I can't complain too much as teachers in Jersey do better than most. The "lowly teacher" comment is mostly a joke, as my wife hasn't even been working a month and started at a salary nearly triple mine! The creme brulee would look sweet with the front windows tinted. Too bad that it is illegal in Jersey.
  18. Since you both bought in April and May, I would imagine you'll receive something in the mail from Sirius in September or October. My F-150 came with the 6 months, and I had also hoped that they would forget about it. They had sent me some things in the mail, but nothing warning of a service shut-off. Sure enough, about 6 months to the day I bought my truck, there was no more Sirius. Just a message on my receiver informing me to call the 800 number to activate. Maybe you guys will catch a break, but I wouldn't count on it.
  19. Here's the long story: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/index.php?showtopic=914&hl= But I'll try to sum it up much shorter. The Edge offers the looks and features of a luxury car, but without the luxury price tag. It rides like a car, yet still gives you the safety with the height and size. Finally, it is a sporty CUV/SUV that doesn't look like you are carting around the kids soccer team, and there aren't a million of them on the road (at least not yet, that is). Great job with the Edge, Ford!
  20. I have to laugh about your story with the Mazda. A buddy of mine had a Mazda (I think it might be a 6 as well), which he loved and really took care of. It was basically his first car after getting his first real job. He got married, gas prices skyrocketed, and his wife was commuting over an hour to work. They decided it would be best for her to take the Mazda, and he reluctantly took her Xterra. It's been a few years since, and he's still driving the Xterra, while his beloved Mazda is racking up the mileage. He always has a good story for us about the Xterra, like the time his window failed to go back up in the middle of winter. Oh, the stuff we will go through for the wife.
  21. Wow, the nav actually came down in price, and technically you will be able to control more with the addition of Sync. The power lift gate sounds a little too expensive to me, I'm glad I didn't hold out for that option.
  22. Hi everyone- After a week long search, my wife's Edge is finally here. We've had it for almost two weeks now, and both of us are really happy with the purchase so far. I purchased an F-150 XLT Supercab about a year and a half ago, replacing a Hyundai Santa Fe. My wife immediately fell in love with the truck, always raving about the car-like ride and great looks in and out. It was then that she first considered a Ford for herself, which at the time we thought could be an Explorer. She just recently finished pharmacy school, and being that she is now the main breadwinner (I'm a lowly teacher), it was time to replace her Hyundai Tucson. She always talked about getting a BMW, and I always tried to talk her out of it. It was tough however, because an Explorer is hard to compare to a BMW SUV. Then, the Edge came along. I pumped it up every chance I got, and she admitted she liked the looks. I promised her it would be loaded with every possible option, and she agreed to give it a test drive. After about five minutes in the car, she was sold (as was I). And then the fun began. Of course the dealer conveniently didn't have the trim, color, and options my wife wanted in stock, even though it was showing in their inventory online (I've since realized you cannot count on this at all). While they promised to get her exactly what she wanted, we simply could not agree on a trade-in value and price. It turns out this specific Edge was hard to find. Five dealers later, and several unenjoyable experiences negotiating, I finally found her car. I surprised my wife and came home with an AWD SEL Plus in creme brulee with camel interior. It has the vista roof, nav, sirius, reverse sensing, chrome wheels, tow package, etc. I've got to admit, this is a sweet car. In the past, my wife always let me drive, no matter which car we were taking. Now it's a battle every time. It ending up costing more than I would have liked, but I think all the toys this thing has is worth it. It seems like people stare at this car everywhere you go. Many thanks to this site and all of the members as it made the decision that much easier. Here's a pic, there's more in my album.
