  1. The sunshade fabric somehow became detached from the front BAMR frame on my 2011 Edge Limited. I was able to reach back into the cavity with long need-nose pliers and was able to grab the fabric and pull it forward - it seems the sunshade it built like the old Venetian blinds on a spring-loaded rotating drum. But now I can't figure out how to reattach the fabric to the frame using the the clips - I'm not sure how they were designed to work. Has anyone done this and can provide guidance?
  2. Even with a sunshade in place over the windshield and leaving the windows cracked open, my light-colored leather interior in my 2011 Edge seems to stay hotter than my dark-colored leather interior on my other vehicles, and they have very large windshields as well. I suppose the temperature is affected by the minimal insulating effect of the flimsy cover of the Vista moon roof, which of course covers a large portion of the roof area. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I imagining things?
  3. One downside is that chrome plated steel or aluminum wheels can be repaired if they get bent, but the chrome-clad (plastic covered) wheels can't. I had to have one of my 2011 Edge 20" chrome-clad wheels and tire replaced, which were damaged when I ran over roadway debris (a transformer from a halide street light, but no way to track where it came from). It punctured the tire and bent the rim, including the chrome-clad plastic overlay. I took the damaged wheel to four different wheel shops and was told that they could not repair the chrome-clad wheel because the heat used to repair normal aluminum or steel wheels would melt the plastic overlay, and that they could not remove and replace the overlay. They said a lot of the manufacturers are going the chrome-clad route, the reason being chrome-clad wheels reject brake dust and dirt better than the normal chrome wheels, but I assume the truth is that they're just cheaper to manufacture.
  4. I have to drop the hood on my 2011 LDT from at least 3 feet to get it to close. I learned the hard way that I shouldn't push on it. I've got palm-shaped dents in the hood.
  5. I’m on MFT 2.4 now and was going to make an appointment to get the 2.8 update. But before I did I called Sync Support on a different matter related to the recent Sirius channel update. After the update my presets automatically moved to the new channels, but the voice commands for the channels didn't update. For example, when I say the Sync command to go to "Classic Rewind", it tunes to the previous channel for Classis Rewind (#15) instead of the new channel (#25). Sync Support said this should be fixed in the next update (3.2?) in the next few weeks, so I'll be waiting for that version to come out so I don't have to make the trip to the dealer twice.
  6. As thinguy said, the heated steering wheel and cooled seats are only available on the Lincoln MKX version of the vehicle. A shame, too - I have a 2011 Limited Edge and would have loved to get the cooled seats for the hot Texas summers. Unfortunately, I don't have any info on the 2nd run at the factory. Cheers...
  7. I've been very pleased with my 2011 FWD Edge Limited. Although I've been a Chevy guy for years (still have a Siverado pickup and I'm on my second Suburban), the Chevy crossover choices weren't right for me. The Equinox was just too small. The Traverse was too big, and it's gas milage was comparatively poor. For me it came down to the Murano and the Edge, and I think I made the right decision. The car's not perfect (MFT and Sync are kind of quirky at times), but overall I really like the technology. Even though I didn't have many of the problems others have has, I just got the 2.4 update, and it didn't seem to break anything, and things seem to run a litle faster. My ambient colors are correct and I don't have the Lincoln logo.
  8. My kids complain that they have to manually unlock their doors when I don’t get out fast enough… Anyone know of a way to have all the doors unlock when the car is put into park on a 2011 Edge? In my experience, (and per the manual), it seems the other doors unlock only when the driver door is opened. In my other vehicles (Chevys), there are options to unlock only the driver door or alternatively all the doors when the vehicle is put into park.
  9. I was a little skeptical at first, but I must say I love this option as well. I use it almost every day on my 30 minute commute to and from work, so don't feel like you just have to use it for long highway cruising.
  10. I was in the same boat - had to have one of my 2011 Edge 20" chrome-clad wheels and tire replaced, which were damaged when I ran over roadway debris (a transformer from a halide street light, but no way to track where it came from). It punctured the tire and bent the rim, including the chrome-clad plastic overlay. I took the damaged wheel to four different wheel shops (NTB was one of them) and was told that they could not repair the chrome-clad wheel because the heat used to repair normal aluminum or steel wheels would melt the plastic overlay, and that they could not remove and replace the overlay. They said a lot of the manufacturers are going the chrome-clad route, the reason being chrome-clad wheels reject brake dust and dirt better than the normal chrome wheels, but I assume the truth is that they're just cheaper to manufacture. I couldn't find the same wheel anywhere but Ford, so it was $800 - grrr!!! At least the damage was covered by the comprehensive portion of my insurance as opposed to the collision portion, so my deductible was less. I also wanted to ensure my rates wouldn’t go up as a result of the claim, and was told by my agent that if the insurance company (State Farm) had to pay out less than $1000, my rates would stay the same. Luckily, it came in a little less that that after my deductible, even with the $800 wheel, a new tire, mount/balance, and an alignment. They used the TPMS sensor from the original wheel. I could have gotten the tire a little cheaper from Discount Tire, but since insurance was covering it I just had it all done at the dealer.
  11. I was at the dealer's body shop today (Dallas area) to have a 2011 Edge tire and a wheel replaced, which were damaged when I ran over roadway debris. ($800 for the only-available-from-Ford 20" chrome-clad wheel - grrr!!! At least the damage was covered by insurance…) Anyway, while I was cooling my heels, I asked the service manager if they'd had any issues with the newest Sync update. He said they'd been working on one for two days trying to get a good download from Ford. He said they finally figured out last night that they had to do an update to their Internet Explorer 8 browser, and also get the download on a wired connection. Otherwise, the downloaded file gets corrupted. Needless to say I, too, am going to wait until they get a few successful installs under their belt before I schedule my upgrade.
  12. 2011 Edge Limited FWD in Dallas, TX area Rapid spec 302a (Vista Roof, BLIS, Adaptive Cruise, Navigation, etc., etc., etc.) White Platinum Metallic Tri-coat paint ($495 extra) 20" Chrome wheels ($895 extra) Sticker $41,870 Paid $36,185 (after rebates, but before tax, title, license)
  13. Thanks. I'm new to Sirius, but have XM on my other vehicles. XM changes the channel names for the holidays , so I was thinking Sirius would, too. By the way, I found other holiday channels on Sirius as well - Holly (contemporary) - Channel 3 Holiday Traditions (traditional) - Channel 4 Country Christmas - Channel 62 Radio Hanukkah - Channel 76 Classical Cristmas Cards (classical) - Channel 79
  14. Sirius has started playing holiday music on selected channels. For example, the channel Holly is channel 3. Has anyone been able to get these channels to show up in the guide? I did a "refresh" on the guide, but no luck for me...
  15. Actually, you can put a "keyless" 2011 Edge in accessory mode by pressing that start button, but not pressing on the brake.
