It's been 16 years, but yes I've been through this in the states.
I bought a 1991 (or 02, I forget now) Red Bronco Eddie Bauer. The full size one.
Took her home, and washed it that next weekend.
The red paint flowed off the drivers door and onto the ground. I kid you not. What was starting to appear through the red paint all over the truck.
I've heard of hard water, but jeez
Anyway, I took it in and the service manager looked at. He said "I can offer to re-paint the truck, and extend your warranty to 100,000 miles" I said no things, I don't want a 4 day old truck that needs a repaint.
He said he understood that, he just had to make the offer.
He started the buy-back paperwork right then and there. The whole thing took about two weeks. I got every penny invested in the truck back, AND I was offered any new vehicle on the lot I wanted at true factory cost price (not dealer cost).
I ended up with a new Eddie Bauer Explorer, close to $30,000 worth (which back then was about all you could spend) for about $20,000.
I somehow think it ain't that easy these days
