  1. Any hints on getting the inner fuse cover off so I can pull fuse 29? My hood release cable goes in front of the cover. I don't want to force it and hit or break something. I can squeeze and release the latches.
  2. Lemon laws are usually number of repair attempts for the same problem (about 4) or total number of days out of service for multiple problems. Keep your documentation and contact a lemon lawyer.
  3. Trying to be fair and including the disclaimer that not all people are having problems, also that problems are intermittent, here is my story: Bought the car in October of 2010 with version 1.8 of MFT. I have had it upgraded to 3 newer versions, and have had 2.11 for a couple of months. I have also had the module replaced, but still problems. Regularly takes at least a minute and a half after I start the car for Sync to work. Several times 3 minutes. Phone will show as connected. Incoming call rings on the phone but not on MFT. I fish the phone out of my pocket and answer the call and I can then speak through the car bluetooth. Navigation map is black. the icons appear around the edges, but no map While driving, the main screen has gone black for a minute, then I get the famed "System Maintenance" reboot. When I start the car, the radio is on a different station than when I turned it off. Some of my presets are blank on the screen, although they still exist, and when I touch the blank spot it goes to that station. When I start the car I get a navigation card error message. I press the steering wheel button to hang up phone and it goes into privacy mode. My efforts have included taking photos and videos of the problems, keeping all documentation, and escalating the matter. Ford has issued a few Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) 2 in July alone, so they know they have a problem. I also recently got an email from my dealer that they got from Ford, subject "EFC00864DC MyFord and MyLincoln Touch October Update" So I have had problems from day 1, others have had problems to some extent or another, Ford knows of the problems and has been working to address the problems (to what extent owners think they have been successful in their efforts is your opinion) with my summary view that they released MFT too early, and they have created a lot of ill will with owners, not just with Edge but other Fords with MFT.
  4. Nope, can't upgrade. The car has to be made to do the full nav. There are many posts about this on this forum.
  5. I have an 11 Edge and would recommend against MFT Here is a recent article: http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20111025/OEM01/111029935/1254/FRONTPAGE there are plenty of other articles over the past year, just look. Also, they have had about 4 software updates to MFT in a year, and I am still having problems with the latest version 2.11 They have issued how many Technical Service Bulletins because of MFT? What does MFT give you that would make you want to put up with these problems? You can still get Sync and Sirius without MFT for a lot less money. You just don't get Nav and an 8" screen. Since you are leasing, get one without MFT, and in 2 years they will have the problems fixed.
  6. I had my module replaced the first time they upgraded to 2.8. They got it sent next day, so my car was at the dealer for about 36 hours.
  7. No, it is not a major issue, just one of the many problems I have. Anyway, it says loading in the upper right of the screen when it is loading. the fault message happens very occasionally, so I turn the car off, open and close the door, wait 30 seconds and restart, per dealer.
  8. Yesterday my lawyer sent a letter to Ford to start the Lemon Law process over MFT. I have had it in 5 times in 8 months, an updated software every time and new module once. Am on 2.11 now, but still problems. I can't have them keep saying "oh, just wait another x weeks and there is a new update coming out." Then a week after that update is installed and I start having problems again, they say, "oh, just wait another x weeks for a new update."
  9. If the interior photos are right, they left the hazard light in the same place on the2012 Edge. Unbelievable.
  10. If the interior photos are right, they left the hazard light in the same place on the2012 Edge. Unbelievable.
  11. I'll let you know what happens. I don't know that you can request a new APIM, but a new one didn't fix my problems. I made sure I kept all documentation from service visits and emails to the dealer. After an update when I start having problems again, I start video recording.
  12. I can't afford to trade in mine, having had it only 10 months, so my lemon lawyer starts work on it Monday. The service contact at my dealer said basically the same thing, we hope you get another Ford, just get one without MFT
  13. I have a Sprint Blackberry and the phone problem is very intermittent, maybe once every week or two. The dealer says the phone should work and the Service Manager has told me I should pursue legal action, whether through BBB or a lawyer. According to the Ford engineer I met with, it should not take a minute and a half to start up. At times, before 2.11, it was 2 minutes or more. He would not give a definite time, but said 30 seconds is more reasonable. What about the Nav card fault? Anybody with experience on how long for BBB to make a decision? Through a lemon lawyer?
  14. You used a key word "major" problem. What is major? If the system does not work as it should- phone intermittently losing connection, needing to turn the car off, open the door, wait 30 seconds and restart, then have the "Maintenance" screen come on; or the screen showing nav card fault occasionally, a minute and a half after start up for voice commands to work-are these major issues? Other information from the lemon lawyer (I have not signed anything with him yet): My state does not have a formula for how to determine reasonable allowance for use of the car. BBB uses their own formula that does not benefit the consumer and refuses to vary from it. BBB only considers re-purchase. If I go with a lawyer, I could get a certain amount, keep the car, and they have to still honor the warranty and try to fix it. Good and bad to that. BBB is non-binding, but if I do not agree, the findings can be used as evidence with future proceedings.
  15. Yes, APIM has been replaced. No, I have not tried a different dealer as my service dept. contact has kept in communication, provided me with information on TSB's, performed updates efficiently, and seems to be much more knowledgeable than other dealers I have read about on this forum
  16. Also... I bought the car with 1.8, got 2.4, 2.8 (twice) a new module and 2.11. Also met with a Ford engineer and demonstrated problems. I just don't want to push off action and Ford will say another update is coming out in a few weeks/months
  17. I got 2.11 almost 2 weeks ago and have documented a couple of problems since then on video.
  18. I am pursuing lemon law action with my 11 Edge and MFT, but I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions. In speaking to a lemon lawyer, he said Ford would probably give me $x and I would keep the car, but I could not make any more lemon law claims against the vehicle. The lawyer's fees would come out of that settlement, guessing about 1k-2k. He only gets paid if I agree to and receive money. He also stated I have a very good case since I have had the car in 5 times for the same repair, MFT. I would prefer for Ford to take the vehicle back, less usage cost. Another option is the BBB mediation and arbitration referenced in the owner's manual. Does anybody have any suggestions or thoughts? Thanks
  19. I appreciate the link, but do you know how often this is updated? There are at least 3 TSBs related to MFT that do not show here, the first one I am aware of came out in December of 10.
  20. I got my Edge last October with 1.8. Had problems so got 2.4. Had problems got 2.8 (twice) and a new module. Had problems, got 2.11. Still problems, so I sent emails to 2 lemon lawyers over the weekend.
  21. Yes, dealer can do the update in about 2 hours, version 2.11. My update is working great (for 5 days now)
  22. Sending from google works wonderfully for me. When you ge tin the car, hit sync and say "services" and then I believe "directions". It says something to the effect of "you sent a destination from Google...." I have also found lack of recognition using the straight nav, so again, I use services. It recognizes what I say 95% of the time. If you are still having trouble, sync now has live operators, no charge. So ask for operator in services and they easily find the info and can send it to your nav.
  23. I also got the 2.11 update on Friday. Everything is great. The two main problems I had been having were with the phone disconnecting, Blackberry, which also locked up the system a few times, and the time it took for voice commands to work after starting the car, sometimes as long as 2 minutes. Now no phone problems and voice works basically immediately. Also, I tried the operator assist with the services function. That works great, too. Got me the information immediately, and it's free!
  24. A TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin that the dealers have access to. It describes problems that have been experienced and the solution. It is a lower level than a recall. You cannot download it, you are confusing it with some My Ford Touch (MFT) updates. So this particular TSB describes MFT problems that some owners are experiencing. The solution is to have the dealer install version 2.11 One update that I was able to download and install was for the Sirius channel names. I lost the ability to say the name of the channel, such as Classic Vinyl, Elvis, etc. This happened after Sirius updated their channels. Full version updates like 2.4, 2.8 and now seemingly 2.11 must be done by a dealer
  25. This is an old problem that happened when Sirius changed their channel lineup a couple/several months ago. Ford came out with a memo or TSB about it. There is a user installed fix on syncmyride, but my dealer is going to do it for me while he is addressing other problems. I believe there are several comments/threads about this on this forum somewhere.
