  1. Ford IVT folks have stated this morning that the update on SMR is broken and should NOT be installed. They are currently investigating the issue and will give further details when they are available. Repeat: Do NOT install this last update.
  2. Congratulations! Sounds like you are going to have a nice ride. Be sure to post pics of your new baby. It is going to be a while before I buy, and I can't decide what color to get. I need to see the Mineral Metallic in person.
  3. I have seen dynos posted for the Subie Forester XT after a Cobb AccessPort tuning (computer flash only, no hardware), showing 50+ HP gains with premium fuel. Hardware mods will take that further. Of course, that is from a lower starting point (210 going to 260 hp). So with the Ecoboost starting out so much higher, there might not be as much room to grow it. The question then becomes reliability.
  4. Yes, it runs on regular gas. I also believe that is the recommended fuel. I read somewhere that premium may get you a little bump, but I don't think it was very much.
  5. Hello all, After doing a number of searches on this forum and the internet in general, I have not found an answer to the following question: If someone were to purchase the HID headlight assemblies for an Edge Limited, could those be installed on a Edge Sport? Are there any wiring or fuse considerations? The reason I ask is I have a friend who is very interested in the Sport, but greatly prefers the HID lights. He would (reluctantly) eat the cost of buying the headlight assemblies to get the bigger wheels, engine and look of the Sport. The HID's can be found for about $600 each side online for the whole assembly, but am not sure if it is okay to just buy the ballast and the new bulb/holder, or if the whole thing is necessary due to design differences. He prefers factory/OEM parts and is not interested in cutting/hacking/drilling to install aftermarket solutions. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone.
  6. Oooh, this would be a cool voice command opportunity!
  7. Cool! Tell us about it - what color, options, etc... Keep us posted on your order and give us the full story on when you take delivery How long is the wait expected to be?
  8. Dead is just about the only way you could be caught in that! lol
  9. The benefit I see for myself on the 2012 MKX is the deletion of the 20" wheels from the top options package (102A), knocking the price down almost $1000. I like the look of the smaller polished 18". Too bad they didn't go for a heated and cooled rear seat option like in the MKT. It would have further differentiated the MKX from the Edge.
  10. After getting a reply from a Ford IVT (In Vehicle Technology) representative regarding an inquiry of mine, it appears that the map data comes from a company called Tele Atlas, a wholly owned subsidiary of TomTom. So now I am not sure how Telenav plays into this, if at all.
  11. Is that an app you downloaded or something that came with the phone? What is the name of the program? That sounds like a handy piece of software that I think would help a good number of people having similar problems. Happy driving.
  12. For those interested, the 2012 Edges and MKXs are now on their respective websites.
  13. The 2012's have been posted on the Ford and Lincoln websites.
  14. LOL! I am in the market for an MKX, and my wife is looking at an Explorer. We both like the idea of integrated navigation, but the data on Ford's system stinks. There are numerous posts detailing how lame Telenav's data is on the Explorer forum we have been reading. The lack of new roads is one thing, but that is always chasing a moving target, so I tend to give a bit more leeway there. But the worst aspect I have found in my research is how far off the maps will place a target address from the real address. It can be anywhere from a few dozen meters to a few blocks. It is pretty bad. In my own tests on Telenav's website, which I would assume would have the most up-to-date data, I was getting some pretty bad navigation advice. I tested addresses that were anywhere from 3 to 30 years old just outside of Houston, so I wasn't trying to find the most obscure addresses in the middle of nowhere. In my experience, the maps and POI data is far inferior to the 2009 Navteq maps on my Garmin Nuvi. That's pretty lame in my opinion. Ford really needs to address this problem. Not having a road or address on the Nav is inconvenient, but having it send you to the wrong place is not only less than useful, it is a hindrance!
