i changed the plugs and used pulstar plugs. my edge had 112,000 miles on it, so it was time for a tune up. change them out and had a coil go south on me. got that fixed and then had a "bucking" problem when under a load, like when going up an incline. it felt like it was having a misfire problem, but i had no lights coming on at all. thought it was the VSS and/or TSS, so i got them and replaced them. still had the same problem, but the trans shfited alot better. looking at the sensors, they needed to be replaced anyway. yesterday, i pulled the pulstar plugs and put in Autolite XP iridium plugs and did a carbon clean on it. drove it home last night and it was perfectly smooth all the way home. my edge either didn't like the pulstar plugs or one of them was bad. i bought them online from Advance Auto parts, sat on them for about 3 months, and now i can't send them back. live and learn, but $65+ is not a cheap lesson in my world.

ok. driving in this morning, the "bucking" was getting really bad and while running down the road it went into "safe" mode for a very short time. once i got onto hwy 121, the speedo stopped, the odo displayed dashes and the wrench light came on. this is the what happened to my wife, and the reason for me driving it for the last 2 weeks. i immediately scanned it, while driving, and it came up with.........

there are no codes stored. not sure what to do. im looking to trade it in, but my wife loves her edge and we can't afford to buy a new one.

with the searching i have done, i did see something about the pcm. i did have a coil go bad and i replaced it. if the pcm was going bad, wouldn't there be a code stored? most of the searching i have done led me to either the speed sensor and/or turbine speed sensor. the speed sensor is on the outside of the trans i can easily do that myself.

i wish my 08 had the average mpg display. i have an app on my phone and a bluetooth adapter. it shows all kinds of stuff like instant mpg and average mpg. i was looking at it last night and it was saying my average was between 29-30. when i filled up this morning, i figured it at 22.1mpg. that is a mix of highway and traffic driving.

my dad is a parts and service director for a Ford dealer in VA, and i have been having problems with my 08 3.5L. i asked him about it and his first thought was the throttle body as he sees alot of those come through. i would say, just by what he was telling me, that there are problems with them. not real sure about year models though.

Chrysler 200 is my daily driver. it now has limo tint on the rear windows and what ever legal is on the front. this is my weekend toy. it has been down since August getting a new motor and a ton of other piddly things fixed. you can see my 200 in the background with the tinted windows.

im on the verge of trading in my Edge because of what has happened the last week. i did a tune up on it as it has 113,000 miles on it. immediately a bad coil reared it's ugly head. that was easy to since i have the torque app and bluetooth adapter. now, while driving up a slight hill or just under a load, it bucks some until it down shifts and then smooths out. on Monday, my wife was driving to work and the cluster died and the wrench light came on. also, it felt like the trans was slipping in first really bad. i looked at it and when you put into gear, reverse or drive, was like you were doing a neutral drop, or a bomb exploded in the trans. it has stopped doing that now, and shifts perfectly but the bucking while driving is still there. the cluster works fine too. i scanned the system and there are no codes saved. im thinking it is a speed sensor. i did check the trans fluid and it's not burnt or low. has anyone run into this?

sorry, just now getting back on here after a long hiatus. but, no, i was not experiencing a misfire. it ran a smooth as a babies butt, before and after the plug swap. that vehicle never gave me a problem. i was very skeptical myself with spending that much on plugs, but that is what i got. on trips from Dallas to San Antonio, i would get 30 mpg @ 70 mph. when i started a new job, i drive 121 toll road and it has way too many "hills" on it and that made my mpg drop like a rock, down to 23.5. after the pulstar plugs, it jumped to 26.5 average. i will let yall know what happens after i install these pulstars in my edge. my wife is getting around 22 mpg with her commute.

my wife drives our Edge and always has our kids in the car with her most of the time. it is time to do a brake job on it, front and rear. i actually put a set of cheap pads on the rear just to buy me a bit of time to do it all the way around. i normally replace pads and rotors when i do a brake job. i used to work for Ford and with my discount, it was going to cost around $300 using Ford parts. i got to looking around online and have decided to go aftermarket. i just can't decide if i want cross drilled and slotted rotors or just cross drilled. what would be you guy's thoughts? im leaning to just cross drilled, but not too sure. also, should i go ceramic or semi-metallic? also, has anyone put pulstar plugs in? did you see an increase in mpg's? i got a set of these as it is time to change the plugs. i had a set of these in my Escape 2.3L i used to have and i seen an increase of 3 mpg.

i am seriously thinking about getting a set for my 08. i used a set in my 08 Escape 2.3l and gained 3.5mpg just from the plug swap, nothing else was changed. a buddy in NY swears he got a 5mpg jump from them on a v6 malibu.

i have an '08 i bought a month ago and have a slight "groan" when turning to the right, and the a/c doesn't "seem" to cool that great, or blow very well on the 2 left vents. other that, this thing is great.

i just bought my '08 Edge a month and a half ago. i actually bought it for my wife but it doesn't get the mileage she wants, so, i'm driving it now. we traded our Focus in on it as we needed more room for us and our boys. we also have a '08 Escape that was mine. anyway, i wanted to introduce myself, give you guys alittle info and hope this will be a great place to hang out.
