  1. Want improved braking? Why just cross drill those rotors? http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=...p;products_id=1
  2. I cannot understand why your dealer did not offer you a loaner!! There is a BIG sign in the service area of my Ford Dealer that states- if the dealer needs to keep you car overnight, you qualify for a loaner car. When I drove up at 4:30PM and asked for a 5K oil change and inspection (usually a 30 min wait), the service manager said they were booked, but he said That I could leave the car, take a loaner and pick up my Edge the next day. No $$. This is service and why I buy from this guy.
  3. I read another thread about where you see the most Edge(s). Here in Chicagoland- and with lots of Ford dealers, you see many Taurus (Chicago I believe is the best market). Also lots of Explorers, and Escapes- even some Lincolns and Mercs. But not too many Edge(y) vehicles. I can go days without seeing an Edge or MKX. Wife spots them quicker than I do. We just got back from a trip down I80 to Toledo and southeast Michigan and I ran out of fingers and toes counting the Edge(s) on the road. So- Where is the concentration?? Who has the best sales market for this CUV??
  4. I took our first trip in our Edge 800 miles RT with 230 miles on the OD. Cruised at 85 down I88 with the cruise on, You normally vary speeds when passing and slowing anyway. That is what mfg warranties are for! Take the trip, use the cruise, don't baby it, use it. I have over 5K on the OD now, and my only complaint with my Edge was that the seat was too hard. This has been taken care of and now it is all gravy!
  5. New in the box, never used or installed. Curt one piece, Class III 2 Inch receiver hitch for 2007/2008 Ford Edge. $125 This is a great hitch and easily installed. I do not need it because I bought a pickup with a hitch and will not need my Edge to tow. This is a Curt Pro hitch with an exclusive high-gloss black or color finish baked on to the prepared surface. This hitch has an optimum thickness of powder-coat film with a resistance to corrosion and abrasion. Check out Curt Hitch web site here- http://www.curtmfg.com/ No bar, ball or pin, just the hitch. Click here for real easy, one hour installation instructions- http://fileresource.sitepro.com/filemanage...46B6A718596.pdf Prefer Chicagoland buyer. Email me!! ixlar8@gmail.com
  6. I installed a CURT Class III on my kids Edge and now I need to attach a wiring harness. I saw the $50 buck T Unit, but does anyone have info or a wiring diagram for just installing a regular 4 prong harness?? I just want to know how you ran the wiring thru the panels and whatnot. No hassel about the factory unit, okay?? He never intended to pull a trailer and bought it off the lot. Thanks!
  7. I have a friend who used this - http://www.leasetrader.com/ to get out of his 2007 Cadillac Escapade (His spelling). He had 30 months left on the 36 month lease and someone locally took over his complete lease. That is all I know about it.
  8. My family always camped in tents, not really roughing it, nice campgrounds and such. I also took two boys through the scouts, so I did some of that too. But this was when the family was way younger. I sort of enjoyed it, but was never really comfortable when bad weather hit (almost every other year!) Camping in a tent in the rain is miserable! The first time we rented a trailer, 17 footer, It was great. The kids had the tents, we had the bed and the heater. I had a F150 pickemup which was great to trailer with. Since I don't intend of pulling a trailer nowadays, I didn't go with the package this time. I know what you mean about trailering. However, I would recommend you NOT haul what you picture with a Edge, even with the $350 Trailer-towing package and most certainly NOT with some add on hitch for those pounds!
  9. I also didn't like the way the drivers seat felt. I am 6'2" 230lbs, with long legs. The seat seemed way back, down and too low for me. I had the leather drivers seat reworked by an upholstery shop who added a denser foam and reworked the bolsters. He also added custom brackets to the power seat which moves the seat farther back, but -unlike the OEM- does not put you down lower and reclined. I sit upright with good thigh support and enuff headroom for my western wool hat. Check with a trim shop and explain the problem. They do great work.
  10. I hand wash my Bike, and my Riviera's, but the Edge will only be around for two more years, so it's off to the TurtleWax Tunnel to wash Chicagoland gunk and muck off.
  11. I have a verrrry comfortable drivers seat in my edge. I had taken my 71 Riviera to the custom top & upholstery shop to look over some fabrics and see about getting the vinyl top redone. I mentioned what I thought were the uncomfortable seats in the Edge and he told me he has done seat work on lots of cars including Five Hundreds, Fusions, and three Edge cars since the beginning of summer. He said mostly to put in aftermarket seat heaters, but at the same time the customers complained about the hard seats and the lack of good lumbar support. His solution is a more pliable, but denser foam and replacing the OEM lumbar band to offer more support. He will also rework the power drivers seat geometry for a more flexible recline. I found the recline position too 'down and out' for my 6'2" frame. He showed me a Volvo that they were replacing the drivers seat on, and it looked completely stock- except when you sat on it! Big difference! He sold me, and I got it back this morning with three stage bun warmers, and a reworked drivers seat. The bill was $400 and change, and well worth it! The seat looks the same except you can tell the bottom and back bolsters are a little fatter than the passenger side. My upholsterer said they will even out after a while. It's been 65 degrees in Chicagoland lately, so I can't comment on the bun warmers except they work well. The seat is amazing - great thigh support, nice side bolstering, and the lumber is lower and taller and tightens-up the whole lower back. I can move the seat back farther and it doesn't sink low like it did, so I sit more upright and the seat bottom isn't hard. Well worth the money.
  12. My Harley Road King, Twin Cam 88, 85 Buick Riviera Convertible, and 1971 Buick Boat Tail Coupe. I haven't even taken a picture of the Edge yet. Harley Road King (never seen rain, well maybe a drop or two) 1985 Buick Riviera Factory OEM Convertible (64K miles, bought by my Dad new in 1986, I got it in 1990. 377 of 400 made that year) 1971 Buick Boat Tail (Bought last summer, undergoing restoration in garage-terrible paint and worn interior)
  13. Yeah, I noticed the same problem with those mats, my carpet was always wet under the mat Just my take. but when it's really snow sloppy and wet here in the Midwest, the morning Chicago Tribune-all six sections- work better than any mat I ever owned! I just slip them under the WeatherTech and then replace another Tribune the next day. $90 and the mats are OK, but not in sloppy snowy weather.
  14. I read with interest the post from alwaysonedge regarding a limiter or govenor on their Edge by their lease company because they cannot seem to exceed 95 MPH.. Why you want to go faster than that is a mystery, here in Chicagoland, I can’t seem to exceed 30 MPH on the toll road almost anytime! I too lease my Edge, but from a corporate third party, and I was curious about this, because I have exceeded 95MPH (up to 110 MPH before I chickened out. Then I read the post possibly speculating about how data on an owner is driving is stored on the car’s ECU or the data recording feature of the black box. I have friend who is in the fleet leasing business and I asked them if it was possible that anyone in the business would modify a vehicle's computer or place some type of governor to restrict it's speed. They told me it was a violation of Federal law (vehicle emissions) for a firm to tamper with or modify an ECU's data recorder for any reason other than testing. He says the legal implications for a company or business is very high because it may be considered tampering, but we are not sure what this means to an individual because an owner can change settings with one of the scanning tools. I did some 'Googling' and found this interesting site regarding the data recorder and it's legal uses- http://www.harristechnical.com/cdr.htm Also, the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX are on the list of data recorders- http://www.harristechnical.com/downloads/cdrlist.pdf There is also a long list of other interesting information about the data recorder. Alwaysonedge- My friend who is a service manager in the fleet business, suspects that the ECU on your Edge may be faulty and he suggested you contact your Fleet Manager about any TSBs or bring the Edge in for diagnostics. Good Luck!
  15. Look at the "classified' section of this forum. I believe there is a buyer -tommyscarpet- who may want them!
  16. I found the answer to sore and back backs endured during long road trips! These look like the answer- http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main_page=...;products_id=47 Cheap comfort for my ailing butt!! (whoops did I do a double post???)

  18. Grow up and give the guy a break. The admin will eventually move his post. Chill...............................
  19. One of my 'contacts' at the local salvage yard has informed me they brought in a 2007 SEL+ with a 'totaled' rear end. The interior (Camel) and front end (Creme) appear to be undamaged. The Edge will soon be declared salvage and sold to the yard. He has offered me some first pickings! I am interested to find out whether or not the NAV unit or the Auto Climate control can be retrofitted to my SEL which is equipped with the standard MP3/CD and manual climate unit. Anyone have information?? ixlar8@gmail.com
  20. I migrated from a Pacifica Limited to the Edge SEL Liimted and I just got back from the first long 700 mile trip down I80 from Chicago to Flint and back. I found the drivers seat real hard to get comfortable, constant sifting in the seat after an hour or so. Wife is 5'4" and doesn't complain either in the drivers or passenger seat. I am 6 foot 2, 220 lbs and I found the seat hard and the pitch of the seat could not be adjusted enuff to get me comfortable. I wanted more range in the tilt wheel (I do like the GM and Chrysler tilt wheel). The power seat and recliner did not angle back enuff to support my thighs on the seat bottom well, Granted I DO have long legs, but I don't have a problem with my kids S10 pickup or the Chrysler. Looks like I will have to look at some cushion or means to get comfortable, but I really should NOT have to! Anyone else having trip woes??
  21. I would like the pin outs for the CD/Radio if you have it. I want to bench test a couple of radios that I have from a 500 and Fusion that were swapped for aftermarket, but I need the connector pinouts. Thanks Ixlar8@gmail.com
  22. EDGE SEL 2007 on lot Redfire w/black leather Seating fex pkg cargo mgmt pkg 18 Painted wheels Reverse sensing sys TOTAL MSRP $29,680.00 'A' Plan w/ rebates $24166.80
  23. And the natural concomitant is: http://www.smartmoney.com/consumer/index.c...8;ibshatkey=bos and confessions- http://www.edmunds.com/advice/buying/artic...62/page001.html
  24. The cargo cover that FOMOCO offers as a accessory: Cargo Security Shade, Ebony Part Number: 7T4Z-7845440-AA MSRP: $125.00 AT- http://www.lincolnaccessories.com/fas/b2c/catalog.asp Is garbage. My FRIENDLY dealer offered it to me for $150!! Ii's only a shade which fits over the back seat headrests and stretches to the rear hatch and is nothing but a glorified 'tablecloth'! I hope Ford will see to offer a roller-type unit soon. I am really surprised Ford has not offered it, but I suppose they wanted to save some $$. Strange because all the other rear hatch products (except the X) offer SOME kind of retractable cover BUT- does any other Ford product offer a roller shade/cover that could work (with some mods) to the Edge???
