  1. Chose the Conti's just because I didn't like their busy trad pattern.

Looks like they will pick up a lot of stones.

Looking forward to the feedback. I'm about to buy a set and deciding between those and the Yokohama's.

  2. 285's will fit no problem. I wanted 40 series rubber for a bit more sidewall on my Explorer.

does anyone have pictures of the 285-35-22 or 40-22's on a edge sport?? will either of these sizes fit without rubbing issues?

    thanks

  3. You're confused!

First you say you're going to sell your stock rims, then you say they have to go back cause it's a lease!!!

....and yes, you don't get 'powder coating' off, has to be media blasted.

It's a lease car so has to go back with the original wheels (i'm guessing powder coating is a pain in the butt to get off)?...

  4. It's a 'forum'. People post a lot of pics, it's not magic.

You want to sell something, but don't want to look into 'how to'???

No one wants to see pics of online wheels/ tires, they want to see 'yours', for any curb rash/ tire wear etc.

As mentioned, get a 'Photobucket' account, upload pics there, highlight the 'IMG' code, copy/paste into your post here. So simple!

    You should get a computer,

I have no way of posting pictures you can find the wheels & tires on line

  5. Post some good large close up pics of the damaged ones.

Why don't you try and get them fixed?

Other than looking odd with those skinny 235/18's on SPORT, your not going to do any harm to the car

i didn't say i don't like the 22 , i loved them , but after i hit that pothole and i damaged 2 of them , i decided to go with smaller ones ,i was limited with the options because i had to go with what they have in stocks, i just want to know if i have the right size and it wont cause any damage to my car , maybe when its time to change i will go with wider ones, thanks for the reply.

  6. Look at my post above. I have the 285's on Edge Sports, but in 40 series. I had no problems with the Pirelli's, but they do not come in a 40, only 35 which I feel is too low for a heavy SUV on pot holed streets. The only other brand that I would consider was Yokohama that came in a '40', but hated the tread pattern. I end up going with the Contisportcontact 5P even though they cost $168.25 USD (tire rack) per tire plus tax more than the Yokohama's... but I like the tread pattern!

I tried to get them through my selling dealer, but they could/would not get them. I'm curious what the 'price match' price was in a post above. These are expensive tires, not listed for Fords, but for Mercedes, so I'm really surprised that that his dealer did that, lucky him.

One tire dealer in San Antonio asked if I was interested in 285 35 22 on my Edge Sport ..... has anyone tried the slighly wider tires?

  7. 32.41 lbs.

so I didnt go with different wheels. Since pirellis have poor price/performance ration, I decided to go with General G-MAX AS-03 tires:

super happy from the first minute... weird moaming noise is gone, these tires are SUPER quiet and give a new meaning to the word comfort... + it is a good deal if compared to pirellis.

  8. 265/40/22 P's are 34lbs. You have to read the specs on Tirerack. 70 lbs. are cement tires!;)

Today I had Contisportcontact 5P 285/40/22's installed on my new Edge Sport wheels, they are 37 lbs.

Has anyone tried replacing OEM 22s with anything lighter (but to make sure Edgy does not loose its sporty look) ?

I am considering 21" or 20", since I need to replace tires anyways and there is nothing serious other than OEM (michelin scorpion?) available in this riddiculous rim size... And everything is ALL SEASON, meaning that it will not last more than one season (in the Middle East) without becoming noisy and having lots of small cracks...

Second thing is that I read somewhere on this forum that these 22s are over 70lbs (?!) each - another thing to take into consideration when looking for some performance gain ;)

    Any ideas?

My short research gave me the following:

265/40 R22 means I am looking for a wheel with 770.8mm in diameter...

    Alternatives:

295/45 R20 - 773.5mm (is the OEM size for JEEP Grand Cheerokie SRT - but the choice here is even worse than for my Edgy looking at tirerack.com)

275/45 R20 - 775mm (-2%) is the OEM size for Cayenne and this (again - based on tirerack) is an entire new level of choice (40 types available including Summer tires - not ALL SEASON like my OEM set)

    Anybody tried digging more?

have you seen Edge Sport running on 20" ?
(OEM 20" for new sport look yummy)

  9. Just bought some 'wheel adapters' from them.

They can help you, give them a call...ask for Lenny.

Here's my dilemma... I purchased a set of 19" BMW wheels which have a bolt pattern of 5x120. Not a big deal, since I could just install hub adapters. However, the problem is the wheels are staggered, 19x9.5 in front, and 19x10.5 in back. Since the rear wheels are so wide, I'd rather not add the 1" hub adapter, making the wheels stick out an extra inch.

So, my question to you all... is it possible to switch the 5x114.3 rear hubs with 5x120 hubs?

Side note: the rear wheel hubs produce a lot of road noise, and seem to be going out anyway. I hear this is a common occurence in the Edge.

Any and all advice/opinion is welcome.

    Thanks!
