  1. I don’t understand why you would want to install winter tires, then in the spring remove them , and reinstall your summer tires. Get some smaller ‘winter wheels/tires’ so you don’t have that hassle, plus rebalance, and possible/probable damage to the wheels. I would never go through that BS.
  2. The cladding is a ‘plastic’, and no, the sport wheels do not have it.
  3. Why........the hell would you buy the car with nice lookin BIGGER wheels and, NOT test drive it? And when I say ‘test drive’ thing means more than around the proverbial block????? And if the salesman would have sais something about the ‘time factor’, I would have immediately gone back to the dealership, and told him to figure out his lost commission factor, and gone to a different Ford dealer, made the deal, gone back to the first dealer salesman, and RUBBED IT UNDER HIS NOSE! I then would have brought it to the attention of the Sales Mananger/ Owner! You are spending thousand of $$$, and deserve better treatment period!!!!!!! Where the hell are the ‘ Emogies’ ????? To buy this car with the 21” wheels, and now are bitching / whining is not doing a thing for me, do feel sorry what so EVA! You do your reasurch BEFORE NOT AFTERWARD when a lot of $$$ are involved,. Have you heard of this concept?????? I have an Explorer Limited with 20” all season wheels/ tires. From the get go on signing the new car deal, I mentioned to my salesman that the first thing the will be done is a set of 265/40/22 Edge Sport, I now have the later versions with larger 285/40/22. I CANT TELL ANY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TWO IN INCREASE IN WHEEL SIZE!!! And it looks great, as 20” wheels look way to small on a bigger vehicle over a Edge. Also got the same day full front end 3M Clear Bra (mirrors, just behind the top of the windshield, headlights/ fog lights, three quater of the top of the hood, full grill, and bumper plus the top of the rear bumper to protected when loading. “Do it right the FIRST TIME” !!! Were the hell are the Emogies, or is this Forum short of funds? frank - CANADA ( your number one trading partner) ‘The Donald’ is out of touch, and four years won’t be that long, if he dosent get impeached first
  4. You want new wheels, but very vague on wheel/ tire size you’re interested in, or what you have now.
  5. With a stock 40 series sidewall, how much shorter are you thinking to bring it to the same height as the spare (which I believe is a 18" wheel). Your logic won't hold water. The 'space saver' spare is just that. Even a small 245/60/18 tire will not fit in the spare cavity. 'You could go with a slightly shorter sidewall on the 22" tires to keep them the same diameter if you're buying new tires'.
  6. PM me, with your email, and I'll send you some. frank
  7. It's got nothing to do with the wheels being 22" ( they were not an option, but standard on the 'Sport Edge') but from drivers that don't know how to park by a curb, and park by 'feel'. Some people just don't care! Your 'terminology' is incorrect re: the narrowest tires possible from the factory'. You are trying to say 'the lowest profile tire' which in this case is 40. Going with a bigger wheel (22) you have to go with a lower profile tire ( from a (50) on 20" wheels, to keep the 22" tire package at the same overall height as the 20" package. Some SUV's I have seen are running 35, or even 30 which is too low profile for a 5000 lbs. plus truck. While it may look cool ( and you definetly have to lower the vehicle, cause of the increased wheel gap), but such a low profile tire( 35/30) , which are really meant for sports cars, again not heavy trucks looking for your favorite pot hole to make round wheels square. I have had 22's on my truck for years, and have no curb rash either, I know how to drive, and would freak to find a scratch. (They are $6000 @ the dealer, plus tax) I have 19/20 HRE.'s on my Vette 19/19 on my BMW. No rash...
  8. Had them on my Explorer Limited Now I have the newer Edge Sport version 22's with 3/4"F, and 1.0" R adapters running 285/40's. Can't post any pics cause 'Photobucket' wants to charge $40 a month to host! :-(
  9. You have to NOT know what you're doing when you are ordering your 'ADAPTERS' (that's what they are called). Having them stick out a mile past the fender lips, and then post this dribble that the incorrect spec adapters ' helped a tad'! LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL Very odd guy! Find his post with the pics of his wheels/tires sticking out. Read, all the BS he posted, even admitting that he made a mistake in ordering the the wrong thickness, plus he had a machinist that would trim them down for him, or post them up here to sell.!! I hear banjo music in the background.
  10. You were looking at Mickeys cause your car makes 800hp? ? ...and you want 21's designed for a 'Bentley' because...???
  11. "...but that's killing performance". What performance are you speaking of??? Are you burying the Edge in tire smoke cause the stock tires arent 'hooking' ? ???
  12. Post a link to those $700 apiece tires! Tirerack doesn't show them.
