  1. i get being pampered by technology, but i see this same type of thing every day! i'm not an advisor anymore. i'm a damn babysitter for those who want something for nothing, for those who can't pick up an owners manual, those who forgot how to check tire pressure, and so on.

if you cant remember to turn your headlights on when you get behind the wheel, dont get behind the wheel. i know this may sound harsh, but its so disheartening that our society is this lazy!

and as far as other manufacturers go, yes they all still make models with manual controls. So when it comes to foreign competitors "kicking our butts" i have to disagree.

furthermore, if you have a company furnished vehicle, id be willing to bet that your company also has a drivers manual which requires daily inspections of the vehilce to include tire pressure and not relying on TPMS as well as pre checks before pulling out which i'm sure include turning on your headlights

  2. I know you guys are talking about SLR's but anyone have any recommendations for a nice point and shoot?

i'm a big fan of canon elph's...great point and shoot, loaded with features, good pricing

  3. I forgot to mention... Make sure you get uv filters for your lenses. Anti-haze and lens protection simultaneously. I'd suggest you get multi-coated ones, so you don't get ghosting. You also might want a cpl filter. You can save money by buying the biggest one in the size of your biggest lens and buying adapters so that you can use it on your smaller lenses. Tiffen and Hoya are fine, but the best is b+w.

thanks for all of the great info! any particular vendor that you buy from?

  4. A Ducati.

I have extra equipment here in my garage that I could probably part with if you have a need.

lmao! i knew it! not to hurt your feelings, or a 1 up, but i have to share my story real quick. Lived on the Missouri side of kansas city. got a call late one night from a friend over on the kansas side of kansas city to come meet up with him and some girls. (1245AM on a saturday) i jump on the Gixxer, hit the 435 loop out of liberty and roll it south and west over the kansas line. along the way i passed 3 or 4 cars, of which one called LEO and made a mountain out of molehill in regards to my riding. Shortly after rolling into Kansas i was greeted by Leawood's finest on the right shoulder, lights flashing, wheels cut into traffic to pull out as i passed by, and just ahead were 3 more scattered across 3 out of 4 lanes. (rolling roadblock). so with no real good or safe chance for that matter to evade i shut her down and pull over.

1 pissed off patrolman and a nearby shooting later i was given a STERN warning and a ticket that read 165 in a 65. on my court date, the PA and the judge pulled me to the side and shook my hand and said i hold the record for fastest traffic violation and if i ever come back to Leawood they'll make me disappear in the system. havent been back since

  5. My girlfriend recently bought me the T2i i've been wanting for a long time. she found it as a package deal at Sams Club with the Canon Gadget bag, 4 gig SD card, 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Lens, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, and HDMI cord.

even though i just got it and am a beginner i've got plans to add a few other lenses. i know how to get the shots i want, just gotta learn the techniques and get the equipment to do so.

  6. So you know what you're doing! Great! :)

I went Nikon instead. I've had and sold many lenses, but I think I now have the perfect combination now. I have a 10.5mm fisheye, an 85mm micro/macro with VR, a 12-24mm, an 18-200mm VR, and a 70-300mm VR.

dang! you've got some money tied up in lenses! i'm not that deep into it just yet. we should start a camera/lens thread in off topic before this gets out of hand, lol

  7. illuminated door sills are sitting in the corner. once i get all of my warranty work done i'll be putting them on!

OEM Navigation Solutions agreed to accept my 07 Nav unit on a core credit basis so i'll be getting my 09-10 nav unit with motorcraft install kit in about 2 weeks!!!!!

significant other bought me the Canon T2i that i've been wanting for a long time this weekend and it came with a bag, card, HDMI cable, and 2 lenses so i'll be able to get some awesome pics of all these upgrades!

  8. Ask your service advisor to run an Oasis report on your VIN with the warranty history. That should tell you if there had been warranty work done in that area of the vehicle (plus any other concerns the vehicle has had that were addressed.)

    <---- service advisor

PM me your VIN and i'll run an OASIS rip for you tonite

  9. I am employee of a Ford dealership by the end of March to mid April everyone will have the update. The service departments will be getting the updates by the end of the week

we've already got ours this morning. our dealer kit came with 5 USB drives and a buttload of pamphlets. i've successfully completed 3 this morning

  10. VCM IDS seems the best for Ford test and diagnosis. At least it's a specific tool for Ford.

I borrowed one from my friend and have a try. But failed the installation at first. I even thought if there's something wrong in my OS.

Luckily, a video on Ford IDS setup instruction has been found :worship:

I reinstalled a XP2 in my computer and succeed.

there is a specific method to using IDS on any OS other than XP. I've got a dell inspiron on windows 7 64 Premium and an Alienware M17X R3 on windows 7 64 premium as well and use my VCM on both setups.

if you've never used IDS before and dont understand its functions BE VERY CAREFUL about what you do with it! You can turn your vehicle into a paperweight very fast!!!!

if you need help with specific functions please don't hesitate to ask

  11. without any TSB's, SSM's, or recalls you very likely would get stuck with the bill on that. Since no previous history is available the dealership cant submit a warranty claim for that bolt backing out. it looks as if someone attempted to work on the wheel bearing and trailing arm on that side but was unsure of what they were doing.

  12. cant say that i have, but i am DEFINITELY interested in seeing pictures!

quick question, have you or anyone else done ANY work on the rear suspension of the car? I ask because i work for a dealership and may be able to take your story to an engineer to see if this an isolated incident or if maybe there is a known cause. as of this morning there are no TSB's or FSA's to address it
