  1. We have a 2008 ford edge limited and when we adjust the mirrors to the desired location and turn off the vehicle the mirrors return to the previous location it is quite aggrivating!

how do we set the mirrors to stay where we want them?

check out page 150 of your owners manual to see if you are programming the memory mirrors correctly.

Memory seat and mirrors (if equipped)

    This system allows automatic

positioning of the driver seat and

    outside rearview mirrors, to two

    programmable positions.

The memory seat control is located

    on the driver door.

    To program position one, move

    the driver seat and exterior

    mirrors to the desired positions

    using the associated controls.

Press the SET control. The SET control light will briefly illuminate.

While the light is illuminated, press control 1.

To program position two, repeat the previous procedure using control

    2.

A position can only be recalled when the transmission gearshift is in Park

(automatic transmission). A memory seat position may be programmed

    at any time.

The memory seat positions are also recalled when you press your remote

entry transmitter UNLOCK control and the transmitter is programmed to

a memory seat position or when you enter a valid customer code 1 or 2

    on the keypad.

To program the memory seat to remote entry transmitter, refer to

Remote entry system in the Locks and Security chapter..

Note: The seat will not travel to its final position if the key is not

in the ignition and the easy entry feature is enabled.

  2. Just an example of what it takes to change the plugs in a modern motor.

Don't think the intake manifold needs to be removed on the V8/10's, etc.

That's why it cost SO much, lots of hours = big $'s.

    ab

    correct!

3 valve engine tune up runs 269.95 for V8's with the coil on plug design if no spark plugs break. if a plug breaks you're looking at an additional hour labor per hole that breaks. they can add fast.

    V10's and 5.4 3 Valves are notorious

  3. You'll only get a gain if the old plugs were misfiring.

thank you for pointing that out. there are no spark plugs in the world that will give you horsepower gains people. please understand what component you are replacing before you go looking for an aftermarket upgrade! "Vendors" all over the world are more than happy to tell you their "product" will provide performance or economy gains, but have no substantial evidence of such. once the current passes from coil to plug that is the end of the process for the spark plug. it has no modules that can be programmed or switches that can be turned up. all it does is create an arc of electricity which ignites fuel.

At current, there are no known better conductors than the materials being used in virtually all spark plugs, so no matter what the claims say, the only change you make in the way of spark plugs is the gapping of the electrodes. and if you try to "hot gap" an EFI engine you'll be coming to see me at the dealership very quickly.

i can assure all of you with almost 100% confidence that factory plugs will give you the all around best experience in the way of service life, durability, cylinder head depth, gapping, and ignition cycles. NGK is a good alternative as well as long as you stay away from "split fire" style

  4. I JUST PURCHASED A 2012 FORD EDGE 3.5 V6 - SEL. NOW, I'M CONCERNED THAT I SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE 2.0 ECOBOOST INSTEAD. IS THERE ANY DIFFERENCE IN THE FEEL OF THE RIDE, AND IS THE ECOBOOST TRULY GETTING THAT MUCH BETTER GAS MILEAGE?

ride difference, no. they ride exactly the same as the platforms are the same and the ecoboosts weight isnt far enough off from the 3.5's to cause any difference in front end feel.

fuel economy, its too early to report as there are no 2.0's with more than 15,000 miles on them yet. Too many people make the mistake of calculating fuel economy estimates before the vehicle is broke in and all of the powertrain and drivetrain components have settled in together. true fuel economy doesn't start showing up till ususally around or after 15,000 miles on the odometer.

power wise, the 2.0 (by the seat of the pants dyno) feels almost as strong as its v6 counterpart. at times the acceleration feels better in the 2.0 once you've overcome the turbo lag. it's really quite zippy

  5. I have used them before and thought about it for my Edge. But, after doing a bunch of research online, I decided I was more interested in keeping the dirt out of my engine rather then a very little bit of exter air into it...........

Sometimes its best to not mess with a good thing.

(in a mildly Scottish accent) "Damn it Jim! She's giving you all she's got!"

    lol...sorry i had to

  6. Thanks for the heads up, I'll do a search. I have been running KN filter on my vehicles & bikes for over 20 yrs with no probs. I think most the probs come from people over oiling them...

to some extent i agree with you about being over oiled. but it boils down to 2 simple things.

1.) the only way to flow more air than the stock filter is to use less filtration media. Less filtration media means more dirt, grit, leaves, road grime, water, and what have you entering the engine.

2.) there are more electronic processes taking place in your intake tube than there were in any 10 cars 20 years ago. hence the problem with running an aftermarket filter

  7. True if this was a traditional "chip" but as we all know current Fords don't use a "chip" - they have to be reflashed or tuned with a reprogrammer to change shift points, line pressures, etc.

Gforce is nothing more than a fancy resistor wired in like with the IAT sensor that fools the engine into thinking the air temp entering the engine is different. It's a scam, period.

lol...had i paid more attention and caught this it was "one of those" i wouldn't have even replied...i love those ebay scams

  8. Maybe if enough of us fill this out it will happen. Kn sent me this link. They will email you when it is available.

    http://www.knfilters...ed/default.aspx

not to be negative nancy, but unless you plan on buying 2 of them and following the filter cleaning guide from K&N to the letter, as well as taking it off any time you go to the dealer with a check engine light on you're throwing ur money away. do a search on this forum and read the horror stories that came from an aftermarket filter

  9. to buy factory wheels you're gonna be out some SERIOUS money!!!

i had to replace a set of sport rims a few months back for a customer under warranty. The cost was over 6500 dollars!!! Ford's markup on rims is HIGH! but alot of that is due to the price they are sold at when a vehicle is ordered. your 20" wheel option upgrade was probably only 1,000 to 1,500 dollars when the vehicle was ordered. so Ford marks them up to offset the loss from ordered vehicles.

  10. yet another reason i say NOT to pull fuses or attempt your own repairs unless you fully understand what you're doing.

disconnect your battery (negative terminal) for AT LEAST 5 minutes. reconnect battery, start your car, then wait to see if the performing scheduled maintenance screen comes up. if it just stays black, take it to your dealer

  11. I had an OEM Ford factory unit installed on my 2008 ford edge and everything works but the SYNC. The mechanic insists that the SYNC is not commnuicating with the new unit and i heard it might need a switch of some sort to correct the issue but no one has been able to assist.

Was wondering if anyone had any resolution for any similar circumstances? Would appreciate any help as SYNC troubleshooters advised theyve seen it done before but the only known solution they have is to replace the SYNC board which is over $1500 and not worth it

    Appreciate any help!

not true. call united radio at 1-800-448-0944 and tell them what your problem is. the kit is around $400 to get sync working. i'm doing the same thing on 2010 limited. it came without nav and i'm gonna add a unit from a 2011 f-250

  12. just wanted to put ink to paper, so to speak, and fill everyone in on my project list for the ol ladies edge.

    Priority 1

-Upgrade 6CD/MP3 to 2011 Super Duty Nav system. (estimated cost : $1,000 including kit from United Radio)

    Priority 2

-Illuminated door sills (estimated cost : $140 my cost )

    Priority 3

-weighing pro/cons of eibach spring swap

    all i got so far

    ALL input is appreciated

  13. Based on my experience, this will yield nothing.

You will speak to someone who does not know what a PCM or coil is, then they will explain it is not under warranty (thus supporting their dealer).

When you ask to advance the complaint process, or speak to a higher authority, they will tell you it ends here.

Approx 3 weeks later, you will get a letter in the mail that politely tell you to go away, and the matter is closed.

*I hope you speak to someone more helpful than I did.

What worked for me was going back to the family owned dealership that sold me the Edge, and explain to them that Ford has placed me in a situation that would prevent me from being a return customer.

Being the great people they are, they fought for me internally, and won.

I can say that you should do everything you can, as soon as possible.

Restitution after the fact took me 4 months.

thats why i stress the importance of making sure you are good and worked up and pissed off and have your facts straight when you call them. the madder and more upset you present yourself to the rep the more of a resolution you will get...keep pushing!

  14. I very much agree with you. I have owned mine now for 11 months and would buy it all over again.

Yes i have had some problems but not enough to make me not buy the car or the MyFord touch

System again. I still believe that many of the problems are Human Error. I know that last statement

wont make me any friends. As a Certefied Sync Specialist With a Ford Dealer i have the oppertunity

to work with customers on the system and do not see half the problems that are mentioned. Enjoy

    the ride.

like Ladybird, I'm also the Sync specialist here at my dealership and was at the 2 other dealerships i worked for. I, however have seen these issues and have been deeply involved with the system trying to help find problems so we can develop fixes.

I can go back into my file and find the original repair order and write-up that led to the first MyTouch TSB. A Senior Master Technician and myself put well over 30 hours into troubleshooting, updating, re-programming, and paperwork. Not that that makes me anything special, just pointing out that i know this system very well.

  15. Thank you for attaching the TSB. I will talk to them about it next time this happens, which I'm sure it will soon. They've already taken the wheels off and cleaned the bead seat area twice, so technically the next step would be a replacement. *Technically* :)

with yours being an 09, if you have more than 36,000 miles on or your warranty start date is prior to today of 09 you're gonna be out of warranty. wheels only fall under the 3/36 bumper to bumper. Unless you bought an ESP service contract.

if you're out of warranty what you'll need to do is #1 maintain an even temper and tone dealing with your service manager. (more flies with honey than vinegar). #2 let him/her know your situation and that this is the 3rd attempt to rectify the situation without having to replace the rim. #3 let them know that you understand they didn't build it or cause the problem and that they are trying to fix it, but its an inconvenience to you and that you didn't pay for a defective vehicle, so you're going to call Ford Customer Assistance for advice on how to get the issue resolved once and for all.

you follow my advice and i can assure you that you will get the issue resolved

  16. yeah that's what I thought. I think he was going to see if he could copy the SD card for me as well. I know they are write protected but they just have the switch on the side so we'll see. If not I'll just wait and enjoy pulling the fuse out anytime I have issues, yesterday was the first time in my week of ownership.

it goes a little bit deeper than just the write protection. The software has DRM (digital rights management) software embedded as well as the OS will have to be updated with the new interface overlay.

the files on the SD card are only nav files. The consumers will have to have the flash drive which has all the structure files for the update as well as all the GUI parameters.
