  1. I have a 2011 Edge awd v6 and an Explored Ecoboost with 2,600 miles. Road tests on both report that the payback for the Ecoboost (a $995 option) is about 3 years. On recent 1,500 mile trips my Edge got ~23 mpg (summer gas) while the Explorer got ~25 mpg (winter gas). The Explorer is larger and heavier than the Edge, so an Ecoboost Edge should do at least as well. Both engines are excellent, but a couple of mpg and longer range are a free bonus if you keep your vehicle 3 or more years. The real question is if you can live without all wheel drive. If you can, test drive an Ecoboost!
  2. Changes? Other than the 2.0 Ecoboost could you list them or provide a link?
  3. I agree. In April my '08 Limited was at the body shop for a door ding. I asked about the car wash. They said my paint was excellent. The Edge rarely missed a week at the cloth strip car wash.
  4. When the climate control on my '11 Edge is on the pressure in the cabin builds quickly. It is irritating and sometimes hurts my ears and causes a minor drum like rumble. Cracking a window stops the problem but is noisy. Does the cabin vent? Where? Would it be feasible to open or make a vent? My '08 Edge did not have this problem.
  5. UPDATE... Dealer can not find a problem but acknowledges the noise. I'm going to try another dealer. I did find a way to reduce the noise; that is, put the climate control in recirculate or crack a window. The high pressure caused by the fan definitely hurts the ears and amplifies the rumble. I'll do a separate past on that matter.
  6. Great suggestion! I called my dealer. They will check the motor mount and exhaust on the 25th. I'll post the result. Thank you!
  7. Interesting...my wife hears the sloshing in the tank as you describe it. The dealer did remove, check and re-install the tank, buy maybe there is a ground-out there?
  8. You are 100% right! Any other Ideas as to the cause?
  9. Any help appreciated. My friends won't ride in the car. The rumble is that irritating!
  10. My dealer has never charged for key programming...including my after-market flip key. It takes 2 minutes!
  11. Dynamat is expensive. I'll look into Quiet car
  12. My guess is that you are right. I assumed my dealer checked that. It's been in 7 days trying to find the cause. My car was built around the time Ford modified the roof structure in February. I wonder if they missed something on my car during the transition. Tapping the roof does not reveal any unusual sound.
  13. Thanks. Very helpful and not that hard to check. From day one my brother questioned the engine mount/subframe. He has an '11 Edge SEL which is very quiet.
  14. Thanks for your thoughts . Makes sense. The dealer is willing to keep looking and would install the Dynamat . They agree my car is unusually loud. What is odd is that it is only a particular low frequency that is loud. It is otherwise quiet! I will look for a missing plug or grommet.
