  1. Thanks L1TECH for the confirm on naming confusion..

I did not ask what the error code is/was but I will ask when I pick it up and I would "think" it would be on the paperwork.

but what was so odd, not only that some sort of "reboot" kicked the SJB back into working, is that they were very clearly saying that the passengers side threw the error and not the drivers side despite the fact the drivers side was the dead one. hmmm..

I will follow up when I have error code #.

  2. yep.. I vaguely recall "module" and "reboot" being used. Surprised nevertheless as I do not recall ever reading about something similar here. either way, pretty good news as it seemed a simple fix and not as bad as thought.

Funny thing is, getting the drivers side number entry pad replaced (bulbs burned out in it apparently) and changing out a bad rubber window trim on rear passengers triangle window (it would smear like tacky thick grease when you touch it) will both take 4-5 days.. this took an hour to figure out.

  3. I was waiting for you to have this issue with good ole retro solutions hid kit lexxy. You "blew out" your SJB. Just as I did before they offered an "edge specific" harness. Luckily, I'm cool with my dealer and they replaced the box under warranty......it would have cost $1,000 out of pocket. I checked all the same things you did.....to no avail. You need to take it to the dealer......and send retro a thank you letter for their wonderful HID kits !

    you were "waiting" huh? ;)

well, not much I can do about it now. yes, I was a pre relay harness adopter. Never really had any issues like some reported so it comes as a bit of surprise that 2 years in the SJB takes a hit. I have no plans to deal with it myself any more and already have an apt for tomorrow. I have been in contact with RS and do - now - have one of the Edge specific harnesses so going forward I will naturally use that. I guess I will just see how it all plays out with the dealer.

  4. Try swapping fuses 7 and 8 and see if the problem moves from the left to the right. That would be the most logical explanation.

Otherwise it looks like there is no relay in the power distribution box - it must all be in the smart junction box.

fair idea. though I did pull 7 & 8 and cleaned them, but for fun, I will swap just to try as that is a step I should certainly try as it would only take seconds.

What year is your EDGE I have 07,08 electical diagrams

  5. unless someone can come up with something to check I have missed, I have made an apt to visit the dealer :( next week as I am tapped for ideas and trouble shooting.

If it is the SJB, I would rather them deal with it in warranty as I understand it is pretty much a sealed unit anyway. and for finding relays, I just do not think this vehicle is setup like older cars where I can pull relays and swap drivers for passengers to test that.

fuses, wiring (as far as I can follow), bulbs, connections, power/ground tests, all things that I can check have been checked from what I can tell.

  6. I had my drivers side low beam head light died. Passenger side is fine. Through all kinds of trial and error & trouble shooting, I pin pointed it back to the drivers side head light plug in the engine bay and found that the power wire (brown with a strip) is not getting it's power at the plug.

I stripped back some wire about 3" down on said wire to see if power was just getting robbed in the plug head itself maybe due to oxidization or just a bad connection. however, this reveled no power as well. Of course, I cannot follow this wire back endlessly to find the power loss as in enters a massive bundle so I have to start thinking it is the switch.

So, could a bad headlight switch actually kill 1 side and not the other. the dead head light sides front & rear parking lights, fog lights, brights are fine, just the low beam head light.

    any thoughts would be appreciated.

  7. how are people equating "auto headlights" with DRL's?

they are 2 different things. "auto headlights" are those that can be set to come on when it senses night and off when senses day. These must be on that year Edge as they are on the previous year.

DRL are just daytime running lights, but I would not consider them "auto headlights".

but given we all have "auto headlights", I guess he must have meant DRL. and if so, and he just crossed terms, TPM419419 is right.. he can roll into the dealer and have them activated.

  8. easy tiger

if you know so much, why didn't you just go to a Pep Boys or Kragen then and borrow their scanner - FOR FREE - and get the codes, do your research on the codes, and be done with it.

I agree that the health report can be weak and contradictory at best, BUT it might clue you in and you can run it for free - if your car has the function - so why wouldn't you. The OP asked & was answered, not you.

  9. install the after market hitch, like a Curt (tons of threads on that here with photos, part #, how to's), and then look into something like this IF it even comes close to bottoming out, which I would not likely bet.

a dual hitch extension to lift it up

  10. ... but I haven't heard of any type of "chip" on a late model Ford.

so wait.. now, like I originally said and you "confirmed", you say you have not heard of a chip?

I said "never seen anyone here talk about a "chip" for the Edge" and now you say "but I haven't heard of any type of "chip" on a late model Ford." :shades: :)

  11. this should be a sticky thread

although this has all been covered in the other larger LED thread like +10 times, including photos. You can search here and find the thread.

To be clear, the long part # (e.g. 194-2825-501) and price you give are, of course, relative to the retailer so that is not the same for all so don't use that as a search criteria. But the Bulbs type, size and the number of pieces you need (e.g., 2 x 39mm Festoon) are the key pieces to note. Even the # of LEDs in the correct bulb size/type can vary - e.g., you can find a 4 or 6 LED bulb in 39mm Festoon for example.
