    Rustproofing

I'm also a do-it-yourselfer but years ago when I bought my 1979 Econoline 150 brand new I had it rustproofed by Ziebard and when I sold her 12 years later she had not s single spec of rust which was quite unusual. When I buy my Edge, plan to do the same cause these guys make tiny holes in the cars body, which they plug afterwards, and inject the chemical inside, something I cant do. I checked them out and are still in business which means they are doing something good
  3. Thanks, I can live with the above Looking on the 2013 Limited, Package Options, there is one called "Driver Entry Package" $1,000 which includes among others the "Perimeter Alarm" and "Inteligent Access with push button start" What is / included in the Perimeter Alarm? And what is / included in the Inteligent Access besides the push button start?
  4. My earlier post missed "bimmer848" comments and I also agree with him. My 2001.5 Passat has features that the 2013 Edge Limited doesn't come even close. Yes a prop rod? I even I looked at the MKX and at CAD$58K you get a prop rod and not locking door I'm not putting down the Edge which is a fine SUV and probably my next ride but it's upsetting to see Ford missing these important design mistakes which some of us appreciate and do not cost a lot. Like in 2008 I was looking again for an SUV and looked at the Escape. Again no lock on the gas tank door but the worst was the antenna which was mounted on the top of the right front fender. Common Ford, wake up, fender mounted antennas are from the 60's
  5. Well if we look at the 2013 Explorer, the windshield washers are NOT on the hood and I'm surprised that no one has mention before this design flaw. What do you do when your hood is covered with freezing rain? I'm not saying is the end of the world but they would have been much better hidden under the hood and close to the windshield like most of the cars. And what is the advantage of this capless gas fill system? I think it was in this forum someone had the thing frozen up and could not fill up with gas and cost him $525 to have the dealer fix it. And the door for sure is not airtight when closed and like Limited59 said I'm sure with bed weather dust / water will accumulate inside there. Not very important design flaws but enough to make a perfect SUV even better.

    Rustproofing

Did you rustproof your Edge and if yes which type did you choose?
  7. Dont know why they put the windshield washer nozzles on the top of the hood but they are pretty ugly and would be nice to hide them like most cars Same for the antenna, should be at the back and NOT at the front And the gas filler gizmo should be replaced with what all cars have: lockable door and a regular gas tank cap
  8. I plan to buy the 2013 Edge Limited with the EcoBoost but I hesitate for these reasons: I find it strange and problematic to have the two windshield washer on top of the hood because in the winter when ice build up on the hood you will have a hard time to remove the ice and perhaps you can damage the hood The antenna on top of the windshield looks very ugly especially if I get the white color. The gas fill up door is not lockable and the gizmo they have to fill up with gas may freeze in the winter I'm also concerned with rust problems Do you have similar issues / problems with your Edge?
  9. Hi there I have a 2001.5 Passat GLX 1.8L turbo since new and my previous two cars have also been Passats but diesel (they didn’t make them diesels until recently). My Passat has been a dream car and even after 130K clicks still looks and sounds like brand new Now on my retirement I would like to get an SUV and thinking to get the 2013 Edge Limited with the EcoBoost but I hesitate because of quality / reliability issues. My last North American car was a 1979 Econoline 150 which I bought new and kept it for 12 years and I was very happy with it too, no problems at all and no rust (had it rustproofed by ziebart when new) What is you experience with your Edge?
