  1. Regarding the "free alarm system" I don’t think I paid for it because the system was given to my by the finance guy after the Edge deal was agreed with the salesman. I mean after I agreed with the salesman the plus & minus on the deal and he went to the manager to get the approval then the salesman said now we will go to see the finance manager and it was this guy who told me about the LoJack. To me the salesman did not even know about the LoJack because he never mentioned it during the negotiations. Regarding the VIN number, I noticed somewhere in this forum someone mention it and I asked the salesman about it and he told me when he will give me the VIN number he will also tell me where I can go and see the status of the order. So when I get this info, I will post it here
  2. Finally I placed my order today: 2013 Edge Ltd, Kodiak Brown / Medium Light Stone Leather, 2.0L EcoBoost, 301A Package, Chrome Roof Rails, Navigation and as a surprise to me I also get an ESPION theft prevention / fast recovery system free for 7 years (apparently this is from Ford and not my dealer) Delivery approx. end of February / early March. I should get the VIN number soon and then I will be able to see more about the delivery
  3. Good point Johnny, but this is the list price and the dealer indicated that "we can make a deal when I sign" and hopefully I will get them for less. When I tested the Toyota Venza which has 20" wheels the dealer said he will throw the winter tires for free so perhaps Ford will do the same
  4. Thanks Scorpio, guess will go with the 17"
  5. Perhaps I did not explain properly but the 18" tires are mounted on steel rims and the 17" tires are mounted on mags (aluminum mag wheels, similar to the original but without the plastic clad) Its not the cost I worry but rather looks and safety. Definetly the 17" mags will look much better but I was told that mags are more fragile and if you hit a pothole (in the winter they are plenty) the wheel may crack I wonder if you guys in the Northern States have similar experience
  6. Went today to place the order for my 2013 Edge Ltd but the financing is not what I wanted and the dealer suggested to wait until Jan-15 when a new plan will be available. That’s no problem for me because I don’t mind to wait and get what I want. Since the Edge comes with 18" all season tires / wheels and in my area it is compulsory to use snow tires from Dec-15 to Mar15, I asked the cost of a new set of tires and wheels and he offered: 18" snow tires on four 18" steel rims for $1,600 installed or 17" snow tires on 17" aluminum wheels for $1,540 installed (no 18" aluminum wheels are available) Which set would you go for?
  7. I dont need a DVD up front, as you mentioned there are other ways to get your music. I was just asking out of curiosity why the auto makers have stuck to an audio system with an archaic CD player and then they suround you with all the other high end technology like HD radio, iPod/MP3, flash drives, perimeter alarm, etc. Lets face it, CD's are already on the same path as the 8 track / Cassette tapes, VHS / Beta movies etc., so why bring into a modern automobile an obsolete technology?
  8. I'm telling you guys in my area, Staples and WalMart carry almost no CD's and what they have is really expensive and so I dont buy them Still dont understand why cars have CD players instead of DVD, I mean DVD players are backward compatible and they can play CD's. Even under the counter kitchen stereos are now available with DVD players. Did you ever tried to get a CD player for your computer? Simply they dont exist For sure it must be a reason but darn it I just cant see it
  9. Thanks Dingo, I understand But in my area we only have 100 packs with DVD only for $20, CD they come in either single or 5 packs and very seldom in 10 packs
  10. Out of curiosity I wonder why the automobile industry, local and imports, never switched from CD to DVD on the cars audio system. It can not be the cost because DVD players and DVD media are now dirt cheep and actually I don’t think you are able now to buy a CD player because they don’t exist In my present Passat I have a few CD's where I copied my favorite songs and play them on my CD player but CD media are hard to find and when I find them are much more expensive than DVD media Am I missing something?
  11. That is such a good info Haz, I found what I wanted and thanks so much Happy New Year to all
  12. Your Edge is a very sharp color jack508, congrats and thanks for the help For sure I will check the other dealers in my area after the holidays however on some you can check on line their inventory and they dont have any Kodiak
  13. I found some pics of the light stone interior, I love it
  14. Thank you Mark for the pics, now I know for sure I will not get the sienna interior because I dont like the combination of brown / black. No offence guys, this is just a matter of taste I hope someone can post some pics of the medium light stone leather but if not I will take my chances on that interior. Somehow I believe in that interior the entire seat is the same color including the front center arm rest from some pics I have seen on the web but they were not clear
  15. Hey MurphieNB good info and if I was going to get the white I would also have gotten the sienna. Problem is that you were lucky to see one before you bought it where I'm at dark Any chance of posting some pics of your interior? Are the seats all sienna or just the seating surface and where your back is?
  16. Very hard choice Edgieguy between the white platinum, kodiak brown and ruby red. All beautiful colors and if I had them all side by side I may have gone with the white or red but decided to go with the kodiak without even seen one

    Fuel Type?

That is very good info EdgeGermany, thanks BTW my son works in Europe, he has an Alfa Romeo GT V6 and belongs to an Alfa Romeo racing club but he said that he doesn't know about the Edge. Since you are in Germany and you have an Edge, did you buy it in Germany or you import it from US? Just wonder if the Edge is available in Europe

    Fuel Type?

Thanks Gimp for the info. Did not want to be too technical but I was just curious what the (R+M)/2 means. Your explanation is enough
  19. Hey RJG, thanks for the insight: I'm also a reiree and thinking about the same lines but I'm not a F shareholder LOL, dont trust the company and although they did much better in 2008 than the other BIG 2, I find the automotive industry too risky. I was looking the other day on the NBR on PBS and I think they were reporting the auto sales for October or November; the import sales were up 26-30% and the big 3 were up only 6%. Yes a good increase but a far cry from the imports. Its really upsetting to see these numbers and thinking that the big 3 started the automotive industry but now they are always behind the imports and will never understand why they cant change Anyway the only reason I will look into leasing is because my dealer does not have an Edge Ltd in my color and so I find it easier to lease since at the end of the lease I can return the car if I dont like it.
  20. The lease quote I have is for 36 months at 0.00% interest and monthly payments of CAD$682.04 tax included (residual CAD$20,792) The purchase quote is for 60 months at 0.00% interest rate and monthly payments of CAD$807.66 The above include a Ford credit of CAD$1,750 From the above it looks like that the lease is more attractive financially but at the end of the lease I must fork out $20K to own the vehicle which is ok with me assuming that I like the vehicle. If not then I lost my 36 months payments. I was just asking to see if there is a disadvantage on leasing but since you are planning doing the same I will really now consider this option
  21. I was planning to place an order in January to purchase a 2013 Edge LMD in Kodiac brown metallic with light stone or white platinum metallic with Sienna seats but since my dealer does not have any vehicles in my colors, I'm thinking now to lease. Never leased a vehicle before, preferred rather to purchase, and I don’t really know the pros / cons of leasing vs purchasing. The idea is since I can't see the vehicle before I purchase might as well lease it and at the end of the lease if I like it then I pay the buyback price and its mine but if I don’t like it then just return it or trade in for another color. Do you think the above is a good financial idea or its going to cost me much more to own the car if I decide to keep it?

    Fuel Type?

I was reading in the 2013 Edge operators manual that says " for recommended fuel to use Regular unleaded with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87" Just curious, what is (R+M)/2 ?
