  1. Could be water pump. coolant seeping from seep hole in that same area you are looking at. Check engine oil for foam/ moisture or overfill . Oil on dipstick would look foamy - nasty looking.

Could cause engine damage if you keep running engine, if it hasn't already. Lets hope not.

  2. 2013 Edge SEL 3.5 engine. I had both front rotors warp, less than 10,000 miles. We took a trip from Northern Indiana through the Cumberland Mountains then over to the Smokey Mountains, took the scenic rides through both. Went on to Pensacola , Fl. then back home. Little more than 3,000 mile round trip. Had little over 7,000 total when had rotors turned.

The rides through the Mountains probably caused the warping, but I didn't think I rode the brakes that much. I used the manual shift mode going down to help with breaking but rotors still warped. Car has 47,000 on now and can feel very slight rotor warp again. Not bad enough to worry about. Must be cheap rotors or very hard brake pads. Brake pads still look to be about 3/4.

Also just changed trans fluid and antifreeze. Manual doesn't call for it but can't hurt. Shame you can't change trans filter. I changed trans fluid twice. Drained and filled, drove about 30 miles, drained and filled.

  3. I've never used magnets other than drain plugs with magnets that come with some vehicles. Sounds like using them could be helpful.

I do one thing that wasn't mentioned. I fill the new oil filter ( when possible ) . Some filters are on such an angle can't get much in them. Then you have the upside down filter :-( I figure the oil goes through the filter first before getting to the bearings, so if the filter is already full , it doesn't have to be filled by oil pump before getting to engine. May help illuminate dry start.

The filter on my Edge 3.5 is vertical so I can completely fill it.

I may be old school on this but that's the way I do it.

  4. Hello

I also have a 2013 Sel. When it was new I cleaned the bottom of all the doors and blew out with air compressor, let them thoroughly dry, I filled the seams with liquid car wax, let dry.

When I wash the car I rinse the inside bottom of doors. So far no sign of the ugly rust. I've done this on my past vehicles , it worked for me. Just have wax residue on inside of doors. You could probably rub it off but it doesn't bother me. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

  5. WWWperfa_ZNOW,

Thank you for your quick response and expertise. What I can see the two lube tubes lube the timing chain more than the cams????

After thinking about the lube tubes and the amount of oil that is being pumped through them, if every cam bearing had one there would have to be a 10-12 quart sump instead of 6. As much oil that comes through those tubes there wouldn't be any oil left in the pan to pump. Enough of my jibber japer.

    Thanks again

  6. Hello everyone,

Would anyone know where I can find a diagram of the oil lubricating system for my 2013 Edge SEL with 3.5 v6? I'm just curious because after changing oil the other day I removed the oil fill cap while the engine was running and saw a oil feed for the cam . I was wondering if each cam bearing has a oiler or does the oiler somehow lube the whole cam? Hope I made sense with my question.

    Thanks

  7. Hi, Reply to rattling noise. I have a 2013 Edge SEL that had a rattle sound coming from the underside. It turned out to be the plastic cover under the gas tank. Wind would get between the cover and tank and cause cover to vibrate/rattle. I pushed a stiff piece of rubber about 1/4" thick and about 4"x 5" between tank and cover. I accessed from the passenger side. I'm assuming the gas tanks and covers are the same????

  8. Yep I sure do. I use my Kobalt 80v blower. I usually pull into garage so wind and sun doesn't dry it and make spots. Also touch up with chamois. Winter wash is touchless car wash with undercarriage spray to help wash the Indiana salt off. After the roads are all clear of salt in the spring I run car up on ramps and thoroughly Rinse every crack and crevice underneath.

  9. Hi All,

Does anyone know how many miles the 100% oil minder setting is? I usually change oil/filter around 3000 miles. The last time I changed oil I set the minder to 50% . the oil monitor came on at 2000 miles. which is telling me 4000 miles is 100% ???

    We drive normal conditions.

    Thanks

  10. Hi,

I can't advise you because my Edge doesn't have the options you want. I can tell you I've had no problems at all. My MPG is good far as I'm concerned. My trip meter resets itself every 10,000 miles so I can't say what the average is for total miles on the car. I would say about the same as the trip shows now. The trip meter now shows 7115 miles with average mpg 26.5. I have got high as 29 mpg driving on two lane roads at 60 mph or less. Interstate driving I get 27. Check my remarks under MPG forum. My car may be exceptional, I don't know ??? I attached a picture of my trip meter showing a road trip I took last year

  11. Concerning your question. Is the 4.2" screen in your car wired for backup camera. NO My 2013 Sel has the same 101A package. I took the dash apart and removed the screen, no plug in for backup camera.

I bought a backup camera kit with 7" mirror monitor. Too much glare I couldn't always see the image behind me. So I removed it. I have to do some checking to see if I can replace my sync screen with one that has the backup camera connection. If I find out if this will work I will post what I found.

  12. We have a 2013 SEL 100A package. Plain SEL. Don't care for too many goodies or leather seats. It does have dual air/heat which Wife really likes. It has all the regular power options, seats/windows etc. Wife chose Ruby Red. I agree it is a pretty color but hard to keep clean, almost bad a black. Also was able to negotiate a decent price on this car. $27,500.00 out the door price. Purchased new Feb. 2013. Car was built Jan. 2013.

  13. Don't play with the reset and see what you get. My edge ( Sel ) has two trips. I leave one of them alone so to get over all average. I found the darn trips will automatically reset at 10,000 miles , very disappointing because I wanted to check average for at least 50,000 miles. My last 10,000 miles averaged 26.4 My car is rated at 19 city 27 highway. So far I've been happy with the mpg's.

  14. Hello,

I would check to see if the water pump is internal on the Taurus engine. Edge placed the water pump internal for engine compartment room. I don't know about the Taurus. If it is also I would think the Taurus engine would work. You would have to use your electronics etc. Let us know what you come up with.
