  1. Hi, Looks and sounds like you are having a very nice trip. Glad you like your Edge. We also went on a road trip from northern In. To Cumberland mountains then Smokey mountains on Gatlinburg Tn. side, then across to Cherokee Nc. to Hendersonville Nc. to Opelicka Al. to Pensacola Fl. then back to Indiana. via the scenic route . ( mostly two lane roads ) As you can see in pic mileage was pretty good. 26.3 mpg for 2533.8 miles. I was hoping for better but is close to what it is rated at.

From home to Cumberland we drove interstate running 2/3 mph over posted speed with air conditioning on. Got 27.2 until we hit the mountains. The least was 24.2

2013 Edge SEL , 3.5 V6 FWD See forum , fuel mileage , pic of my dash with MPG.

  3. Couldn't find the discussion on MPG for the 3.5 so decided to post here. 4. ranferg,

You didn't say what year your car is but shouldn't make too much difference. I have 13 SEL , normally been getting 24/25 MPG. I have been getting gas at the same station. I got one tank that I couldn't get over 22mpg no matter what I did. So I'm guessing a cheaper grade gas was dumped in the stations tank. I see a no name truck delivers so hard to tell what brand gas it is.

I'm thinking you got a bad / low grade fill up this time.

I had a average of 24.7 for 2400 miles. Got the bad tank of gas, took me down to 24.1, I'm now back up to 24.5 for 3007 miles.

  5. I don't know a lot about CPO warranties. I'm guessing the warranty is as good as the dealers reputation. The ford warranty expires at 60,000. I don't know if you can buy an extended service plan through ford because of the mileage on this car. When I started shopping for an Edge I found that buying a low mileage used cost as much as a new one. I didn't want or need all the extra frills that some of the packages offer. I ended up finding a 2013 Sel ,FWD cloth etc. Just the base SEL which has all the options I need. I found it online then started calling and visiting dealers to get the best price I could. Long story short. 2013 SEL, built Jan.13 ,purchased Feb.13. Out the door price. $27,500. This included sale tax dealer cost, everything.

  6. We got a FWD. Averageing 24MPG now. Not much city driving. We live in the county so county roads and two lane highways. Weather has warmed up. I don't check the mileage in cold weather. Takes more power/fuel to get cold parts moving. I know when we first got ours I played with the gadgets while idling that sure knocks the heck out of the average. I leave ours on instant mileage most of the time. Have to see what happens this summer when we take a road trip. I sold a 2004 Ford Freestar minivan when I bought the edge. It averaged 23.8 / 24.3 on every trip we took. Sure want the edge to do better than that..

As I said above getting 24mpg. Actually 24.5 over 2300 miles. I usually fuel up at our local Kroger store/ gas station. I got a bad tank of gas ( less octane I assume ) two tanks ago, dropped to 24.2 average, couldn't get more than 22mpg on instant mpg's. on that tank. Hard to say what left over gas kroger gets for it's station. Trucks that dump are not labeled as major companies. Since I've gotten better gas average back up to 24.5. I'm not impressed at all with the mpg. But it's getting what's advertised according to my driving.

  7. Lee1,

For now I'm not going to remove parts to check the vents. I haven't smelled exhaust fumes. Or may have smelled some and thought it came from another vehicle. I will keep my nose open. haha

Sounds to me the Rep is giving you a real gas job. Never heard of such a lame excuse.

    Thanks for your replies

  8. Lee1, Thanks I'll check it out. So far I haven't smelled exhaust.

Lee1 and Group, I don't know if certain models have the vents but mine sure doesn't. I got underneath with a flashlight, looked everywhere, no vents, slits nothing that even looked like a vent. Mine is a 2013 SEL. It was built January 2013, don't know if that would make any difference unless ford discontinued the vents because of the exhaust smell??
