    Hey, I changed it to a Autobot logo as it matches the silver color of my Edge SEL. I would post a pic but i do not know how to add one, sorry. I was also wondering if the indicator for the navigation can be changed as well the flashing circle around pointer is annoying?

    Sounds awesome! The navigation indicator cannot be changed either; however, this would be a great Idea on Ford Social. Here's the link to where you can post it:

  2. Is there a way to change the Ford Logo that goes out when the vehicle is shut off or turned on? I apologize as i am new to a 2013 Edge. I would like to change the Ford logo to something custom. I have changed the home screen already. My 4 year old is a huge super hero, avenger transformer fanatic so changing the fade in out Ford logo would be cool. If it cannot be changed than so be it.

     

    My son is a huge superhero fan as well, Stoln; unfortunately, the logo cannot be changed. What did you change your home screen background to?

     

    Can't answer your question but am curious as to how to change the home screen....is this only for the MFT vehicles or can a non MFT home screen be changed?

     

     

    The MyFord radio display cannot be changed, Edge1911, only MyFord Touch and the Voice-Activated Navigation systems can have pictures.

    Not sure I see a difference when reading the description of services for the two.

     

    The price difference is due to Lincoln vehicles having unlimited Operator Assist sessions; Ford vehicles recieve 20 sessions with a 12 month subscription. :)

  4. Just picked up a 2011 MKX. So far, so good. Typical (from what I have read) sunroof issue that I have to take it in for. But overall after 3 days and 150 miles my only beef is the drivers seat. We will see how this fairs.

     

    Still working through the Sync and Nav systems.

  5. Just bought a 2012 SEL with Nav but no SD Card. Ford sent the new A4 card but still getting the "insert valid SD card error" is there something else I have to do?

    I can check to see if your software is up-to-date, sappermedic636. Just shoot me a PM with your VIN. Like ls973800 stated, your MyFord Touch software may be out dated, but that's an easy fix. :)

    2011 Edge SEL, Sync is having issues, sync site says its up to day...Gen2 V1.8 shows as the latest update back in august of 2010, is this the latest update for my vehicle? I have put an image on a usb and successfully transferred it to sync, have saved it as the wallpaper, but it will only show up on the first wallpaper option, will not sure on the

    Version 1.8 is the original software for MyFord Touch; there have been 10 updates and 1 upgrade since then. :) To receive the latest software (v3.6.2) you'll have to visit your dealership. As for your wallpaper, the diminsions may not be set to the correct size, make sure they are as follows:

     

    • Compatible file formats are as follows: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp

    • Each file must be 1.5 MB or less.

    • Recommended dimensions: 799 x 378

    That would be up to the dealership that you decide to go to. I suggest calling a few in your area to see if they will charge you and at what cost.

     

     

    Hi Rebecca,

     

    I am on 3.6.2 and it is still pretty laggy (I think more than the prior release, 3.6 or 3.5). Once I click a button, it really waits a second before making the move. How much RAM does this thing have, or is it a weak processor? Is there another update coming out and when?

     

    PS for the future, are you guys planning to implement a better software system, such as Android or Google Maps, with tablet-like touch sensitivity rather than this painful resistive touchscreen currently?

    If you're finding your MFT to be laggy, I suggest a trip to your dealership so they can check for any issues. Here are the specs:

     

    Processor, Memory, and Storage -

    Freescale i.MX51 SOC

    Core CPU: ARM Cortex A8 @ 600 mHz

    2D/3D graphics controller

    512MB RAM

    2GB NAND flash memory

     

    Unfortunately, I cannot speak to future enhancements.

I'm a newly registered member of the forum, but I've used this forum several times over the past few weeks and wanted to add some insights that I've gained about the sync system in the 2008 Ford Edge. I recently purchased a used 2008 Edge Limited with sync version 1.0 installed. I decided I wanted to update the system to the latest version, so I created a profile on syncmyride.com. The website told me that I needed a dealer installed updated that would bring my system from 1.0 to 9L2T-14D544-BE Gen1-v2.1. I took the information into the dealership and they updated the system to 1.3 and told me that was the best they could do. After several angry telephone conversations with the sync people and a couple visits to the dealership I finally got what I needed. The dealership updated my system from 1.0 to 2.1 today for $55. YES, IT CAN BE DONE. Don't let the fools at the dealership tell you that 2.1 can't be installed on a 2008 Edge, because it can and it just was. The update may require the dealership to call the sync tech support hotline, but it can be done. I've read a lot of conflicting reviews about this update, so hopefully this helps the next person that has the misfortune of trying to get the dealership to install an update to sync.

    What does the 2.1 give you that the older version didn't? I also have a 2008 (bought used) and the website is pretty vague about what the upgrade does.

    Version 2.1 adds Vehicle Health Report (for U.S. vehicles) and 911 Assist. Make sure you call a couple delers in your area to get the best price! :)

  9. The most accurate source for your software version is your MFT. Try this in your Edge, youri631:

    Gears > ? HELP > SYSTEM INFORMATION > CCPU S/W Version:

    If it was updated to v3.6.2, it'll show x.xx.13171_PRODUCT; however, if it shows x.xx.12285_PRODUCT, you are still on v3.5.1. I did receive your PM, and I'll take a look at your software on my end, but let me know what your MFT says.

  10. I think you should try akirby's suggestion, but I'd like to add that this could also be a SYNC issue. You can try a master reset to your system if pushing on the button harder doesn't do anything. Here are the links to the master reset support cards:

  11. I had a similar issue and one day the screen went blank. Two days later it started again. I took the car to the dealer and I was told that I need to have the unit replaced on my 2012 Edge because changes in the weather can impact the wiring with electronics. I was told that for 300+ dollars they would replace as I now have 40,000+ miles and I am no longer under warranty. My car is is excellent condition and always garage kept save the time I drive it.

     

    From reading this forum, it's clear others have had similar issues. At what point does Ford do a recall? How many people have to pay out of pocket for a faulty, glitchy system?

    Is your system working now, Msjesims, or is it still a black screen? Depending on what they deem the issue to be and like omar302 stated, you do have an extended limited warranty of five years on the module for MyFord Touch. I suggest that you contact the Service Manager at your dealership to discuss this further. Let me know if you need any help.

    Thanks for sending over your info, I was able to pull up your SYNC details without a problem. I'm seeing that your vehicle is currently running v3.1 - which is the most current version available intended for your vehicle. There may be a dealer-level install available, but I can't recommend pursuing that avenue unless your system is exhibiting a specific set of symptoms. Your dealer can provide further consultation on your software options, though I'm not sure what kind of service fees might be involved.

     

    That particular SYNC w/nav platform doesn't support the song metadata streaming via Bluetooth with even non-rooted S3 devices. I have a Galaxy S4 that behaves the same way. The S3 appears to render SYNC's basic features, such as Bluetooth streaming and voice-dialing, but I do not see text messaging as a tested and compatible function: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/device-compatibility-sync-navigation

     

    I am having some of the same issues as carlo74, text messaging shows as not supported (also a samsung galaxy s3). I do get album art and song title when available on my music library but not when using pandora. I have read on android forums that some but not all sg3 users have gotten it to work but their steps do not work for me. I was going to try and update the software on sync but everything else has been working pretty well so did not want t risk it for now just for text messages.

    It's important to note that there are varying levels of functionality between different devices and versions of SYNC. The compatibility chart for Carlo's version of SYNC is above, while you can find the compatibility chart for basic SYNC without nav here: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/device-compatibility-sync

     

    Testing for device compatibility is ongoing, so the results posted on that page are subject to change without notice. Some devices exhibit partial functionality, but are not considered to be fully compatible unless they can render the SYNC feature consistently and without error.

     

    I have this same issue as do many others. Master Reset does not fix it. And it's hard to believe we all have all of a sudden expereienced bad APIM after the latest software update.

     

    For me its not everytime... sometimes it can be the next start, other times it can be a few days. But it will not hold the previous ambient light settings... both color nor brightness.

    Hi Rayo,

     

    If your vehicle is equipped with the MyFord Touch system, the ambient lighting behavior you described has been addressed by a service bulletin released to the dealers. There's a lapse in memory retention that's taking place in the APIM that requires a reprogramming. Consult with your dealership for assistance with scheduling a service appointment to have that issue resolved.

    The service adviser might not have been clear on what you meant by "entire unit". I've never heard of a dealership replacing the touchscreen to address an APIM-related issue. How's the system running currently?

     

    Question, I am trying to find the APIM location at my 2012 edge. Can anybody help me on that? Highly appreciated, Michael

    May I ask if any updates are in the works for older SYNC systems? I have a 2010 AWD Edge Limited w/ Nav (Gen1 v3.1) and would really like a little more Bluetooth support for current phones. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

    I'd be happy to double check the software status on your vehicle for you. Feel free to PM your VIN. There's truth to akirby's response: phone functionality is weighted a little more heavily in the direction of the phone manufacturers. Our engineers do what they can to keep SYNC as device agnostic as possible, but there just isn't a production standard in place that allows for all phones to offer full compatibility. If you're having any functionality issues specifically, shoot over the details along with your info and I'll help you out. :)

    This could either be a software glitch or the touchscreen is registering phantom gestures. In the event of the phantom gestures, that could stem from a hardware defect - which would need to be examined and possibly replaced by your dealership. The second possibility is much less intrusive and likely involves a simple software glitch. To narrow down the possibilities, I'd recommend going with a master reset to see if this measure resolves the issue: http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/perform-master-reset-sync-myford-touch

     

    If the screen continues to navigate to the Services screen even after resetting SYNC, I would encourage you to consult with your dealership for further assistance. Keep me up to speed on how it goes!

    It sounds like there might either be a hardware failure with your APIM or your software is due for an update. Either way, I'd like to lend a hand.
