  1. I'd be skeptical of the driver door latch assembly which is a known issue on these cars for the dreaded 'door is ajar' warning even when the door is closed. If the door lock computer thinks the door is ajar it will constantly try to keep the doors unlocked and will mess everything up creating conditions similar to what you describe.
  2. In the 98 Explorer I had before this vehicle I routinely got 6-8 years out of a battery. It seems like the newer vehicles equipped with more electronics eat up batteries quicker, and batteries are just not made as well now either. At least that is what it seems like to me. -Matt
  3. How many years of service have you guys been getting out of your battery? In my 2012 SE I've replaced two batteries already. First one after 2 years, second after 2.5 years. Both were ford batteries. The first replacement was under warranty so I had them do it. I did not realize after they replace your battery at Ford under warranty once, then even if that replacement fails before 36 months it is NOT covered at all. Just paid $160 for a new battery. Since I paid then this time it is under warranty supposedly so it would be replaced if it fails again in another 36 months for free. Just curious how much time others are getting out of their batteries and what brands they are using. I should say I'm in FL where it is consistently over 90 degrees in summer so I'm sure that takes its toll on the battery but 2-2.5 years doesn't seem like much. -Matt
  4. My 2012 does this occasionally. It says display language can not be updated. Doesn't seem to affect anything so I don't worry about it.
  5. What system did you install? Is it a factory rear view mirror with the lcd or something else? Links? Thanks! Matt
  6. Yesterday I took my 2012 edge se in to Tallahassee Ford in Florida to repair a leaking power steering banjo fitting. When I got it back and got home (by this time dealership was closed) and had a chance to look at what they did I found the power steering fluid resevoir filled up well above the max level (and even a bit of fluid on top of the resevoir that had leaked out the cap). The fluid is supposed to be between min and max when the car is at normal operating temperature, and it says right on the cap of the resevoir not to over-fill. I know over filling can cause damage to pump seals and pressure lines. Also, the mechanic did nothing to clean up the power steering fluid that had leaked on the underside of the chasss (and all over the driver side control arm and rubber control arm bushing) so there is a ton of power steering fluid all over the place under the car. I called them back and let them know what the deal was and I will be going back to them tomorrow. It's raining too bad here today to go back today. I'm fairly confident they will get this all taken care of correctly I'm just wondering what I should ask for in compensation for them not doing the job correctly in the first place, and also for the pain of having to go back another day and take more time off of work. Any advice? This was all warranty work so I don't have any money in it. Anyone with similar experience? Thanks, Matt
  7. Anyone have a copy of the tsb for the power steering banjo fitting on a 2012 edge se? Mine is in the shop now and they are ordering the part..will take a few days. Thought it would be good to have a copy of that tsb just in case. Thanks, Matt
  8. Also curious about this, I second camshaft's question....which app/phone???

  10. Just thought I'd throw out a plug for the Edge-2 DRL from daytimebrightlites.com . A few weeks ago while on the interstate I hit a wild coyote at 70mph. It was at night and it came out of nowhere and there was nothing I could do to avoid it. It did $2800 damage to my 2012 Edge, but the Edge 2-DRL's that I installed a few months back, and which were right there on the bumper that took all of the impact didn't have a scratch on them, and they still were working perfectly. The rest of the car is now fixed, and the shop re-installed the DRL's in my new front bumper cover and all is well. Those lights certainly can hold up well to a heavy beating! Also, I found out I save a little bit of money on my insurance now that I have installed the DRL's, so even more reason to have them! Yes they were expensive but worth every penny in my book. -Matt
  11. Have this same problem on my 2012 SE, 28,700 miles, although just intermittent right now. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow since I'm sure it will become more frequent. Ford should recall this.

  13. I have a 2012 SE and it does the same thing...
  14. I have a 2012 Edge SE, and will be towing a 2,200lb boat. Add the trailer to it and gear it it is probably closer to 3,000lbs. As far as I can tell the Edge tow package (which I do not have) only adds a larger radiator and upgraded cooling fans. (and trailer sway control which I could care less about) Does the radiator also serve as a transmission oil cooler or am I missing something? I've found the following part numbers for the radiator w/tow package and the cooling fans: Radiator w/tow package Motorcraft 7T4Z-8005-A Upgraded cooling fans Motorcraft RF-259 Is there anything preventing me from installing these in my 2012 SE? Anything I'm missing? Help appreciated!! -Matt
