  1. I purchased some Blizzaks, steel wheels, TPMS's, and TPMS reset tool from my Ford dealer for my 2015 Edge LTD. Anyway twice in a row now I have done the seasonal swap (I do it myself), but did not "retrain" the sensors right away so the pressure warning light in the dash came on. After about 5 days or so of driving the dash light stopped coming on and has stayed off. Has anybody else noticed this? Is this normal? Looks like I didn't need the reset tool if you can live with the warning light in the dash for 5 days.
  2. That was it akirby. I didn't even know you could do a reboot/reset on an iPod, in fact I've had this one for 5 years and have never had to do a reset. Also it works perfectly fine on the other platforms I play it on in the house, work, and my work shop. Also it updates and erases perfectly automatically too. Anyway I went online to see which iPod this is exactly, then how to do a reset, then plugged it into my Edge and it plays fine again. Had you not asked me about that, I don't think I would have solved this. Thank you very much!!!
  3. It might be an iPod Nano but I don't remember for sure, and it just says iPod on it. I could see a software problem if it never worked or if this was a new device, but this iPod has worked perfect everyday since Mar 2014 when I bought the vehicle new. It just stopped working one day earlier this week. Could that still be a software issue? I'm not sure I understand. How does it work one day, then the next day it doesn't. FWIW I went to the link you provided and it says my Sync is up to date and has my VIN etc so I know it's the right vehicle. To be honest though it's never been updated since the Edge was new, so it must have had, and still does have the most up to date software. Does that sound right?
  4. 2014 Edge Limited with Sony Premium Stereo. I purchased this Edge new and never had a problem playing music and Podcasts from my iPod until now 2.5 years later. I confirmed the iPod works fine in my speaker dock in my work shop, but when I connect it to my Edge I can't get it to play anything. What's interesting is that once I connect it to my Edge, it sync's and recognizes it and in fact my whole library of music and podcasts is available on the screen in my car. I will pick a song to play or a Podcast to listen too and it shows that item on the screen but simply will not play it. I can fast forward to the next song etc and it shows the new song on the display but again won't play it. It's as if it's on pause, but pushing the play/pause button does nothing and the timer shows 00:00 and stays there. I even tried verbally commanding it to play a new title, and sure enough that title on the screen switched to the one I asked for but it just sits at 00:00 and won't play it. It used to just play it automatically. Even just connecting my iPod, it would play automatically. For the hec of it I tried a master reset of the system in the car setting, but it made no difference. I also tried a different cable from the iPod to the usb port, and I have tried both usb ports inside the console, but it still does the same thing and just sort of hangs there not playing anything. CD works fine as does the radio and all controls. Anybody else have an issue like this, or have any other ideas for me?
  5. Great, thanks I will look for it this weekend as I'm changing the oil. I was a having a stale air smell when I turned on the heater. I have not had a chance to use the A/C yet so didn't check for water dripping, but it's getting warm here now. I suspect I will find the drain hose is not plugged, so it sounds like service with the Lubegard Kool-It is worth a try.
  6. If so where might I find it? I'd like to check it and be sure it's not plugged.
  7. I love this thread. It's interesting to hear the thought process of others and what we all take into consideration. I decided on a Blue 2014 Edge Limited. I heard the 2015 was going to be a next generation model. To be honest I won't buy the first year of any new vehicle, and I'm not interested in the first year of a new generation either. Anyway as I use my Edge at times for work purposes (travelling to other cities and towns) and living in very cold Saskatchewan winters, I felt I had a lot to consider. I ruled out the Sport due to the bigger engine and 22" wheels (love the looks though). Options considered to be important to me (in no particular order) are the Sony Premium Stereo with 12 speakers, heated seats, HID's, Panoramic roof, voice activated navigation, keyless entry and starting, and AWD. Also I love the 20" chrome clads which to me are the nicest looking factory wheel on any car in this price range, and also many of high end crossovers. Now as it turns out after having my Edge now for 8 months, I've had some options & features really grow on me such as the 10 way power seats (with memory for my wife), back-up camera, and BLIS package.
  8. I name all my cars and thought long and hard about my new Deep Impact Blue Edge. After careful consideration I came up with Edgey. I know what you all are thinking...very creative. LOL
  9. Sorry for the late reply as I have not been here in a while. You are correct, I used a medium sized ziptie.
  10. I too was concerned about the bumper fluddering in the wind at high speed without that factory bracket screwed in. Ford put a bracket there for a reason? Anyway I wanted a hidden hitch no matter what so I thought when installing it, I will see if there is anything I can do to help compensate, as opposed to just leaving it there unattached. This was months ago now when I installed it, but I beleive I ended up attaching a plastic tie strap through the screw hole in the bracket, and wrapping the strap around part of the hitch. Essentially the bracket is now fixed to the hitch "so to speak" and very secure just as if it was screwed into the car frame. If the plastic strap breaks at some point (it ain't gonna last forever) it's easy to just wrap another strap around it. As others have mentioned I likely didn't need to do that, but it only took an extra minute to do and gave me some piece of mind.
  11. Seriously??? I laughed when I read that. I couldn't disagree with them any more. In fact some of their reasons to avoid are the reasons I decided on my 2014 Edge over the competition. Hec I'm not even a Ford guy (per se). I tested a lot of vehicles in this class and found the Edges ride better than most. Jittery is a term I might use to describe my buddies newer Boss 302 Mustang, and certainly not a SUV/CUV. They lose all credibility with me on that statement alone. Road noise? It was my Edge that was noticeably quieter than the competition based on my ears when road testing. And last we have the Ford My touch system. I think it's only convoluted if you are stuck in the past or just like rotary knobs. In my opinion Ford is leading the way with this technology for cars in this class, so yes there are things you will need to learn, it's called PROGRESS. I'm not sayig it's perfect, and you will never please everybody, but it's a lot to offer than what much of the competition does. Maybe not the best example, but a while back I posted on this form because I couldn't figure out how to get my drivers door handle to unlock all 4 doors. That's not Ford's fault. I think it's great to have the option to turn it on or off, but other complain it's convoluted... get real.
  12. Yep, you were correct, thanks so much. FWIW I swear I went through evey menu in this CUV like 3 times looking for something just like that, but obviuosly didn't look hard enough. Doh!
  13. I have the keyless entry in my Edge Ltd, and when I used to touch the inside of the drivers door handle I was fairly certain it would unlock all 4 doors. This past week I noticed it's only unlocking the drivers door now. It still locks all 4 doors when I touch the outside of the drivers door handle. Also FWIW when I touch the passenger front door handle it will lock/unlock all 4 doors for me. The only thing that I have done was about a week ago I did a "master reset" of the Myford Touch from the dispay panel, as the voice activated sytems's voice had stopped coming through. The master reset fixed that issue, but I don't think that has anyhting to do with the door locks. Anybody run into a problem like this where the inner handle feature unlocks that door only? Could I have accidently done something that caused/changed this feature in either the large touch display settings, or settings in the gauge cluster screens via the steering wheels buttons? Thanks.
  14. OK got a better pic today of the "Sport" pedals with my summer mats now in, and no mudd. LOL
  15. I think the screws should hold well for a long time if it's installed correctly. The reason I think this is the cover material is fairly lightweight so it should not really put any stress on the snaps. Also you should not be putting anything on top of this cover, so again there should be no additional weight for it to support. Last is the snaps are not really tight fitting, meaning they pull apart or unsnap fairly easy. Tips I would suggest to be sure the screws hold tight are to use the correct drill bit that is mentioned in the instructions so the holes are no bigger than it needs to be. Don't go crazy with a highspeed drill so as to not heat up the plastic and make the hole bigger than it needs to be. In fact you could even use a pin vice or hand held drill bit tool if you like as the drill bit cuts through the plastic fairly easy. Last is don't overtighten the screws, just snug it up and stop. If you follow the instructions and tape down the template the holes will be in the correct positions (as I found out). Good luck.
  16. My 2014 Limited came with just one insert for one of the two cup holders in the front console. At first I wondered if I was jipped of one, but after having it now for a couple months I wouldn't want two anyway. Having just one insert means I have two different sizes of cup holders and use each one depending on the size up the cup.
  17. I love the silver "Edge" door sill plates on my new Limited, but felt it would look so much better if I added the silver "Sport" pedals to go along with them. I ordered them from the parts department and they came in a bigger box than I was expecting. As it turns out the brake pedal is just a pad you slide off and on (which I expected), but the gas pedal is the whole assembly, arm, switch and all. The gas pedal assembly was easy to remove and replace with the new one. Just 3 nuts holding it down on studs, and 1 electrical connector to the switch. The factory brake pedal pad was easy to remove, but the new one was a little tricky to put on. It may have helped if I used a little grease but I didn't. It just required the right amount of rotating and persuasion to get the new one on. I have a handy Snap On pic type tool that helps get the rubber lip over the steel brake pedal. Anyway I am happy with the results, just excuse the dirt and mud in the pic as it's spring time in this neck of the woods so it's tough to keep anything clean.
  18. Here is a couple pics of my Ford Cargo Cover from the parts department. IMHO it should come with every Edge from the factory, but in any case it's part number DT4Z-7845440-AA. It was easy to install and I am very happy with it. Takes up virtually no room when storing folded up on top of my spare tire. Another thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem to affect the sound coming from the rear sub when the cover is installed.
  19. Makes sense, I've seen it many times including my 45 year old muscle cars.
  20. Yep, thats the plan, but the dealer is not around the corner and I can't get there for a while.
  21. Ok that makes sense that I don't have the Cargo Accessories package, now I need to find out if I do have the Cargo Managment Package and if yes, was it supposed to include the cover over the spare. Again my window sticker makes no mention of Cargo MGMT System either standard or optional, but I obviously have the storage bins around my spare. It's interesting to look at your window sticker compared to mine, as they differ quite a bit with the info on them (although very similar vehicles). I'm not sure if it's a 2013 vs. 2014 or a Canadian destined car vs. USA destined car, and I believe they were all built at the same plant in Oakville Ontario. To give you some examples your sticker shows standard items such as Auto headlamps, rear spoiler, dual exhaust tips, 60/40 rear bench, tilt and telescopic, ambient lighting, dual illum vanity mirrors, and 1 touch drivers window. Mine too has all these items, but makes no mention of it on my list of standard equipment. Now if we look at your optional equipment, yours show HID as part of Group 301A, mine shows it down under the optional equipment list even though I also have Group 301A. My 301A includes the BLISS, and your 301A does not and shows it with the vision package under optional equipment. I also have the vision package, but it's listed with my Group 301A. Confused yet? LOL Ahhh the intricacies of the window stickers and packages... I don't even know if my salesman will know if I should have got that cover or not? If the parts guy is correct, it's a $250 cover (which is crazy). I certainly don't want to pay for that if I should have gotten one with the car. Will let you know when I find out more.
  22. Many years ago I used windex on one of my cars many times, as you can buy it cheap in the bigger bulk type bottles and refill the sprayers. Also I thought aerosols might be bad for the environment. Anyway I always wondered why my windows would look hazy at times and a guy I know that was a detailer told me about glass cleaners. To my surprise , he said the windex is causing my haze. This was years ago so my memory may not be the best but I also think he said the aerosols are alcohal based so they won't harm car's paint and trim etc, and will evaporate if you miss some, where as Windex is ammonia based which might kill bacteria (great for your house), but the ammonia could harm automotive glass, car paint & trim etc. I honestly don't think I was ever able to get that haze off my glass in that car, and I did try newspaper too, but since switching to aersols on other cars I've never looked back. I usually buy 2-3 at a time when they go on sale at the parts store or dealership. I use it for cleaning some other things as well.
