  1. i've almost alway's changed my own oil. sometimes i'll get a coupon in the mail (years ago) and take it somewhere. once i took my new truck in to the dealer for a oil change ($10 bucks for the first year) and after an hour or 2 left with new filter and new oil. couple day's later i check the level and the level is WELL above the fill mark, and was DARK as could be. much darker than the 3000 mile oil they removed. i changed it myself a few day's later just to feel good, and never took it to them again.

  2. that price on the 50K mile EDGE SEL didn't seem bad, as long as the vehicle's in great condition. i'm with you on the miles. 50K doesn't seem bad at all (to me that meant quite a few of long trips) which i would prefer on a vehicle rather than one w/ 12K/year that's been driven in town stop light to stop light. i put lots of miles on my new car (Hyundai Accent SE hatch) and it's awesome with 34.5K miles on it in 16 months.

i do know if i was offered $22K for my 07 EDGE SELplus that i would not take it. simply because it's still like new to me even with 27K miles on it.

BTW i've seen the new ones advertising with 0% interest for 60 months. not a bad deal. creates a payment though, but OOOOOH does that new car smell goooooood!!!!!

    good luck.

  3. i've never really cared for the Goo*yea*s either. i'm probably sticking w/ the OEM conti's mine came with, we're having good luck with them (we're at about 26,500 miles) and they look great still. did fantastic in the snow, ice, etc... no complaints with them as of yet.

  4. Porterfield brake pads. Ive used these in all my auto-x cars and street cars. You will not be disappointed with these pads. Wanna add real braking performance? Install a set of Goodridge stainless steel brake lines at the same time. All of a sudden those numb feeling OEM brakes have some really good feedback and stopping distances improve drastically!

WOW, i think when i change pads on our's i may do the lines. not a bad price at all. I would love to get rid of that "Numb" feeling the OEM's have. i've changed my sportbike lines to the SS and Love them.

  5. i'm sure the S4 drove great. if you get a chance "floor" the EDGE, it REALLY wakes it up ;) love the AWD. i don't get to drive our EDGE all that much, couple/few times a month (it's the wifes) but everytime i get to, it's like the first time i drove it. very nice vehicle.

  6. DO NOT USE TIRE SHINE!!!!

I use Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer. It brings out such a nice shine on the plastic. It leaves absolutely no residue. I live by this product for interior and exterior. Also after you wash and dry your car use Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer....WOW!!

    Good Luck.

i asked the wife tonight what i'd been using, she said just soap and water. i used the tireshine on our old tahoe. worked great on it though.

  7. techron = good stuff (walmart/autozone/oreillys/etc...)

i've got a bike i use at the track and it runs great. but this weekend i put in about 20% of the recommended amount (1 bottle for 12 gallons, i used maybe 1/5 bottle for 5 gallons) and it ran even better. after i ran low on gas i mixed another tank.

in the cars i try and run a bottle every year or 20,000 miles.

i did a Pro job, from a quicky lube place and paid $60 bucks a few years ago on a 02 Tahoe, couldn't tell a difference.

  8. you are correct, you will LOSE big time when you drive it off the lot. i bought a 07 just as the 08's were here. i had a trade in that they gave me $12K for (the best i could get anywhere else was $8K for the trade, it was when gas was near $4gal.)

15 months later, and 20,000 miles later, i got offered $18K for "trade-in" w/ a flawless vehicle. NO, i didn't take the trade (it was an 09 SRT-8 Charger the wife wanted it) luckily they wouldn't make a decent enough trade so we kept the EDGE (glad we kept it ;))

car depreciation depresses me. (unless i'm the one buying)

  9. not sure if it's related, but my wife 2 weeks ago was driving down the highway and the vehicle "just died" she pulled to the side, restarted it. drove a little way's and it was running VERY ROUGH for a bit, then smoothed out. she continued on a few more miles. it DIED again. she took it to trade my son cars. next day she get's it to dealer for them to see what was wrong.

it was the coil and plug (looking at engine it was the front left) it now runs smooth again. we have 20,000 miles on the 07.

  10. Blazing copper is where its at ! I always wondered what the gunmetal 18"s would look like on the copper........They look sweet! Congrats on the purchase and getting rid of the "snaab" ;)

:plusone: i like it better than the chromed wheeled ones. i wanted to do the copper color but was afraid after a couple years i would get sick of it, but they still look good after all this time. (we had a amber fire (orangeish) dodge truck and after seeing them on the road they don't look so hot)
