  1. Just a quick update to the fix reported above. It seems very clear to me the unplugged fan cable fix has done the trick. I notice the car engine is running a bit cooler on the open road, and clearly the cooling fan is not kicking into high when parked and idling for a few minutes. We have had a streak of tropical 90°-plus days with dew points in the 70s that should have taxed the cooling. Kudos to the technician at Medford Ford, and to the service manager for persisting on pursuing the "why".
  2. Just picked the Sport from the dealer. The problem was an oversight on the assembly line. As it was explained to me, there are two cables for the cooling fans. One cable wasn't plugged in, just dangling in free space. Apparently the excess heat, humidity, and the slow/stop traffic was enough to initialize the situation. In retrospect, from the date of delivery I noticed a cooling fan kicking on if I left the car running for 2 or 3 minutes. I would do so when lifting out groceries or plants before garaging the car. I just thought it was due to the tightly built car and full engine compartment. So, a system pressure test, a new fuse, a bit of coolant, put the connections together, and a check of other hoses (including the turbo boost discussed elsewhere), and we're good to go. Stuff happens. Good to know it wasn't an engineering design flaw. I'm happy.
  3. I notice the SONY system in the Sport switching between surround, which I prefer, and stereo from time to time. I haven't noticed it doing so in mid-tune, but maybe I'm not paying attention. I just assumed it depended upon the the type or age of the recording, transmission mode, bandwidth or signal strength. Remember when the installed AM radio had stereo capability? I'd be driving around Indiana or Maine listening to KYW-1060 Philadelphia. The varying nighttime skywave signal would switch the circuitry in the decoder chip on and off.
  4. I was in suburbia two-lane highway traffic, running between 25 and 40 mph, with some traffic lights, when the heat went full on. The left information panel, controlled by the steering wheel controls, went red with an overheat message. Certainly not exercising the accelerator. The venting occurred when stopped in a shopping center, idling, and the windows fogged. I shut the engine off for about 10 minutes before driving 20 miles home without further trouble or display warnings. The Sport only has 1643 miles on, and the only (quick) service has been the adding of sealant to the A-pillar per the water leak service notice letter Ford mailed out to owners a week or so ago. I have no idea about the status of a loose (or not) cap on the degas bottle. I tried running an MFT Sync vehicle health report but despite four attempts Friday, Saturday and this morning to do so, no joy. My Samsung S6 smartphone rings, answers, and after a minute or so, hangs up. The center console screen says "unable to deliver report" and I have no idea what to expect or what I am doing wrong. The service manager told me the report would not have indicated the error message the diagnostic equipment found. No warning messages this morning and engine temperature was normal on the 6 mile drive to the dealer. No call from the dealer today, so we'll probably learn more tomorrow. I've been with the same dealership for sales and service since 1979, and they know I don't get upset or impatient over this kind of stuff. They want to know the "why" behind the event, rather than just replace a fuse and add coolant. I respect that, and am perfectly content to let the technicians do their thing.
  5. My wife's 2007 Mustang red convertible is also a 6 cylinder, and also boogies. She doesn't let me drive it too often. She's afraid I'll be taken to the pokey by the boys in blue.
  6. Dunno about the SEL but the Sport's overhead buttons includes one that toggles interior lights as you seek. When I disable the interior lights that one button is backlit.
  7. On Friday evening, our Edge Sport (1643 miles on it) dropped into full-on heat mode despite the climate control set to auto and 72° F. The left dash panel went red with an overheat message for a while. Subsequently something vented from under the hood in front of the passenger side windshield. The car windows completely fogged and took a while to clear. The air conditioning would work only if switched to the full LO setting. This morning the dealer diagnostics showed a heat "event" and a blown cooling fan fuse. A bit of coolant was lost. No obvious reason for this yet, but the test equipment is hooked up. Any ideas? Obviously the car and technology is new, and stuff happens. No worries, just curious. The dealer will get the car back to me later today or tomorrow.
  8. Traded a 2006 Escape XLT -- very good to us -- for the Edge Sport. I might have stayed with the Escape except that that the 2015 interior seemed a bit smaller than the 2006. In retrospect, I absolutely made the right choice in stepping up.
  9. In the Sport's settings, I hiked the treble and bass a bit, and turned surround sound on. I moved the front-to-rear fader from center toward the rear (3/4 from front, 1/4 from rear). These settings, for me, make the cabin full-sounding as opposed to coming just from front or rear. YMMV. While the Edge's audio system isn't head-banging like the 500w system in my wife's 2007 Mustang convertible, I think it is well above average.
  10. Edge Sport with 1643 miles on it. Using regular, from taking delivery on April 27, averaging 19.8 mpg. Mostly suburbia driving, one weekend trip of 300 miles. I don't necessarily take it easy accelerating from lights. The Edge wants to go.
  11. Rebecca, thank you for your reply. My vehicle was delivered on April 27, so I assume I have the SYNC Services subscription. I've done those steps in Destinations and the 800 number call has been completed. My question is where to find the destination on the Edge console itself. On what screen do I find it? It doesn't seem to show in the list of 25 favorite destination. Thanks for your help.
  12. I'm not computer illiterate but two weeks of reading and experimentation has me wondering. I have a 2015 Edge Sport with MyTouch SYNC, and both a 64GB Samsung S6 smartphone and a 32GB with a 64GB card Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE tablet on Verizon. The Ford Destinations app is installed on both devices. The phone is synced to the Edge (no issues). The Edge navigation itself works properly so long as the destination is entered through the console display (no issues). The problem: I can't figure out the Edge navigation console controls/keypresses to retrieve a destination sent by the Destinations app on the phone or tablet (via the 800 #) to the vehicle. What am I missing here? I'm feeling pretty silly here. The Edge manual seems to assume prior knowledge. The Destinations app on-screen instructions, after the call is completed, don't appear to match what is available to me on the Edge console. I've been through the videos on YouTube, the owner.ford.com site pages and fordsyncforum.com site pages. (I hate to say this, but the latter site just seems to be a gunfight over software upgrades and there is no logical forum to post within.) TIA.

  14. XB70, thanks for the comments on the ride and info on the Xzilon treatment. Glad to read of your positive experience with it. I garage both cars, but right now we are also under attack from the holly tree pollen turning everything yellow. Cars, sidewalk, house roof, birdbaths... all coated. Achoo...
  15. In the week-plus of driving the Sport around here, it is a head-turner when parked at the local pizza shop, post office and nursery. At the crowded nursery, the rear gate release thingie attracted the attention of drivers of a few new Japanese and Korean SUVs. "Wish I had that..." At the pizza place, several persons came in asking "who owns the red Ford?" Should all us owners get an advertising commission from Ford and our dealer?
