Driver floor is SOAKING WET
Edgey Guy replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
They didn't know the extent of it! It was estimated at 2,000-3,500 units initially...that was until more then 5,000 complaints hit...OOOPS!- 478 replies

WTF??? IN all my years with Ford, NEVER have vehicles been held for months! They are built to order and the dealer is getting charged for it 48 hours after it comes off the line. There are preproduction vehicles built months before production is started and they are the ones tested and retested and again tested....You are correct as the factory did not know about the leak until a memo from the field hit Detroit.- 478 replies

Ford did not know about the problem! It was discovered by an aftermarket water leak repair company in Canada as they stared fixing dozens of them and a DSM for Ford got involved and wanted to know what is going on as all these repairs hit in May.- 478 replies

The recall with the sealing is NOT the total fix! Cars held at the plant MIGHT have been fixed. Dealership was supposed to do the 15B21 recall PRIOR to you picking up your vehicle. Dealerships were all told STOP SALE ORDER until 15B21 was preformed!- 478 replies

Depends on the build date of the vehicle if the stop sale order was for your vehicle...Anything in May is OK. says Ford...I know it is June...- 478 replies

Relax, you are driving a rental...If you [put a stop payment on the payment, your credit rating will be damaged and Ford will repo your current vehicle and forget about a buy back! Let things progress. No one can answer this question as it has never happened before.- 478 replies

Where in Ontario are you? Find out if your dealership is "fixing" it themselves as per Ford's instructions or of they are using an outside company for the recall/repair. There is one company I know of out there that is turning these vehicles around in 1-2 days.- 478 replies

The dealer is there to help you! They have their hands tied by the Corporation. Keep complaining, that will get Ford's attention. If you see some of the other posts, Ford ha authorized buy backs. You just have to pay for wear and tear/mileage...very fair and is how ALL car manufacturers do it. A plant...I don't think so, check out some of my other posts. The only issue the Corporation has seen I swathe the power inverters under the passenger feet, if they get wet they go a little wonky.- 478 replies

Ford has and is stepping up to the plate! They did put out a stop sell order...it was up to your dealer not to sell you the car. They are working on the issue and are looking at various options, things take time...Look at the GM ignition recall, people were in rentals for 8 months! And the Toyota sudden acceleration...people were in rentals for 4-6 months. Things take time.- 478 replies

have said it before...they are being fixed, I know of 100's being fixed 100% successfully. No more leaks, no smell, all new under pad etc....They can and are being fixed. Why waste your money on an attorney? Ford is stepping up to the plate and fixing or buying back cars.- 478 replies

The two pieces of the pillar are put together on the welding line then robot welded. The vehicle at that point is called body in "white"...the assembled "body" then goes into the dip tank of cathodic e coat. That gives it that greeny look...then it goes to sealer deck where it is sealed, then lightly sanded the primed then painted....- 478 replies

Driver floor is SOAKING WET
Edgey Guy replied to Blue_Edge15's topic in Interior, A.C., Heat, Interior Trim
Yes...were the upper and lower "A" pillars/posts come together, the two pieces are assembled on the body build line, expandable seam sealer which is heat activated is placed between the two pieces of metal...The vehicle at this point is known as body in white...then it goes from body build to the "E" coat tank which is a huge tank of basically anti rust then into a bake oven where the e coat dries, (gets baked on) and the sealer expands. You might not see the sealer but it is there. Hence why you have no leaks. Some didn't get enough of the sealer in the correct areas...- 478 replies

About 35,000 give or take were built, how many have the issue(s)??? maybe about 8,000. On the ones that were flooded, Ford is considering a free extended warranty and maintenance plan.- 478 replies

Trim level means nothing. Ford says April 28? I hear they just picked that date as it was the 35,000th Edge made to date. I don't know how true it is, so check your VIN's...FBB-----. I have heard from very reliable sources that they are still leaking/having issues up to FBB45000.- 478 replies

Don't forget...Ford had 8,000+ parked around Oakville waiting for rework.

It is all bullshit....The leaks are evident up to build dates June 2, 1015! There are tons in mid may. Ford just picked a random date! There are lots of these out of the dates being fixed at dealers.
