  1. My problem is a little different. I drive my 2013 Edge about 8,000mi a year but every 5-6 mos it tells me to change my oil. I use synthetic oil, which should last 10,000mi and I don't want to get rid of the good oil. Is there a way to not have this message appear so often?
  2. I have a 2013 Edge SEL and need to replace the center console/armrest cover. Do you pry off the inside cover to see the four screws? Or do you have to remove the whole center console to get to it?
  3. I have found the following process to be best for my cars (2013 Edge SEL/w everything), 2015 Camry (candy red): 1. Wash and dry car thoroughly by hand. 2. Apply Wolfgang's Deep Gloss Paint Sealant (16oz will last 4-6 applications). 3. Apply P21s Carnauba Wax (6.2oz will last a long time; 8-12 applications). Do this three times a year and your paint will shine like gloss and last forever. I'm in Arizona and my cars always look new. My biggest issue is parking them in parking lots. I park as far a way as I can where no cars ever park (except people like me) and I still worry; definitely paranoid!
  4. I bought 4 Chrome exterior handles from PT Auto Warehouse and tried to install them but they were 3/4" too short. Found them on Amazon and they are actual metal (aluminum or cast metal) but as I said they were too short. Also - when I installed one the spring that is part of the 'Door Handle Reinforcement' assembly (PN26684) was pushed out of its seating. Of course without a spring there is no way the door handle worked. So I had a mechanic work on it for 1 1/2 hours (since its not directly accessible) and it is now fixed. The video that shows how to replace an exterior door handle does not indicate that this could occur so be VERY careful when removing the old one; take a flashlight/penlight after you remove it and make sure the metal latch is sitting in there vertically before you slip the new door handle in or it will dislodge the spring and I would suggest you order a new 'door handle reinforcement assembly' and install it; it will take about the same time but the tension on the spring will be to factory specs.
  5. In case anyone wants the factory service manual for 2011 thru 2014 here is a link. Its a download PDF for $13.95: http://factorypdfservicemanuals.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=531&tracking=5490270b1e9ca
  6. I would like to replace my white door handles with OEM chrome ones; not the stick-on type but original ones. Has anyone done it and is there a video out there showing such?
  7. I was wondering if anyone has installed hydraulic hood struts on their 2013 Edge? I saw an application on a 2014 Escape and wondered if it would work on my Edge. There is a kit out there that was used...see link below. Wrong link guys...sorry.
  8. Thanks Omar302 - you should be the moderator. Looks like one I will use and found a place here in Phoenix that will install it for $225 so total cost is going to run about $600 for the pushbutton start.
  9. I talked to two dealerships fairly close to me (25mi) and they both charge $230 for a key and to program it. Called a locksmith and he will charge me $85 for the key and to program it; amazing. Thank you Omar302 for the suggestion of a locksmith. Dealer prices are outrageous! Update: Just finished with locksmith and now I have two keys fully programmed. He also provided the master code for the door's keypad and showed me how to set my own code. He cleared the old one and allowed me to enter my own. Great service for $85 (I tipped him $15 - cheap at that price).
  10. I just bout a 2013 Edge SEL and dealer only had one key and its not an Admin key. Is there a way to obtain an admin key w/out going to dealer? I have read in other posts how to create a new 'second' key using EBay blanks but it sounds like you need two keys to do so? And if you don't have and admin key you can't create a second one? Its confusing...help!
  11. Did you ever get this resolved? What about getting the most current software update for MyTouch? Would that help?
  12. Does the remote start button also work when following this procedure? I am looking at getting two new ones. I only have one key fob currently; is that an issue?
  13. Post only resolutions of problems and issues. If you can link to a video or other thread that provides fixes great. This should only be used for this purpose so we can come and start reading how to do/fix/resolve repairs/problems.
  14. There is no one answer to this as it could mean a couple of things: 1. Your battery may need replacing; have it checked to see if the Cranking Amps reading is what the battery indicates on its sticker, i.e. 540 or 650. It may read that its putting out 12 volts but the real test is if it reads total CA's. A cursory test for volts only tells what a short term surface drain voltage is; not an 'under load for extended period' voltage potential is. If the CA test is less than 540 (or 650 if you have that) then it would be advisable to replace the battery. 2. It may need a new fuse #29; pull that fuse, wait five minutes reinstall and start your car and see if the message is gone after a few minutes. If not the fuse is ok (you will lose your radio/nav/etc settings when this is done so check battery first. 3. If you haven't had the microsoft 'Sync Update' done to your car this could be the issue. Since its a 2013 a newer version of the software that runs the MyTouch/Sync system is out and solves a number of 'bugs' that the previous versions (2013 back) have. Contact your ford dealer and have them check your VIN to see if it needs an update. If so they can do it for you or you can download from the internet to a thumb/flash drive then insert it into your USB port while the key is on and it will automatically update your system (takes an hour +/-) so you may want to drive it around while its being updated (take a pleasure drive) with your ear buds on listening to music from your smart phone ). This is an elusive problem. If you leave anything plugged in to one of the convenience outlets for too long it will potentially affect this setting and if parked too long without starting it then starting it and immediately driving it, will drain the battery to the point the warning will come on...so...there is no one quick and easy answer...sorry. contact your ford dealer and have them check your vin to see if it has a new update.
