  1. I haven't done a hub/wheel bearing on our Edge [looks around for wood to knock on], but I did a few on our '03 Mountaineer over the course of 12 years and 166k. I used Timken hub/wheel bearings on the Mounty; I don't recall the exact reason why though. Both FAG and SKF make quality bearings - I've installed both brands of bearings in helicopters over the course of my career. Can't speak to their automotive hub/wheel bearings, though.
  2. Been following Columbine II's return to the skies via Facebook for a while now. Every now & then, when I have the house to myself, I put a Youtube aircraft engine video on (round or V; love Merlins, Griffons, etc. as well) and crank the volume; my Boston Acoustics computer speakers do pretty well with this task. Semper Fi, brother!
  3. Yes, one could say I love aircraft. Former Marine helicopter mechanic/aerial observer/aerial gunner (CH-53E), about-to-retire USAF Reserve KC-10 boom operator (I refuel airplanes in flight), and civilian A&P mechanic on helicopters. 22+ years and nearly 3000 flight hours, both fixed-wing and rotary-wing... and I still run outside to look if I hear something big/different/round-engine. I'm definitely afflicted with a love of aviation.
  4. Hello all! Happy new owner of a 2015 Edge Titanium 2.0L EcoBoost; just got it last week in trade for our '03 Mercury Mountaineer (owned since new). I'm VERY happy with the vehicle so far. It's my wife's DD, and she is beyond thrilled. White Platinum exterior, Med. Soft Ceramic interior; 28k mi (I'm fairly certain it was a rental fleet vehicle), 3/31/2015 build date per ETIS. Looking to eventually upgrade to HID headlights, install LED license plate & puddle light bulbs (every other light on the vehicle is LED; why not those??), and install a hitch (mostly for our bike rack, but possibly for towing a PWC in the future). Maybe a couple/few cosmetic personalizations, but nothing crazy. EDIT: added details
