  1. Well, this is a first! Park Place Lexus called me on Monday and said they would like to alter the terms of my sales contract. I thought "Uh oh, here we go - sleazy sales tactics....) However, their finance manager said that they thought that rates might do down so before they closed on the original terms with the lender, they re-negotiated the original loan submission. My rate actually went down .5% and I will save about $1000.00 over the life of the loan. I checked EVERYTHING meticulously before I signed the amended contract and everything is the same except for Loan Rate (down .5%), Total Amortized Payments (down about $1000.00) and payment (down about $15/mo.) I asked why they would be willing to do this and they stated that they are a Premium Level Dealer and want to maintain a premium customer experience. And considering I have purchased/leased 2 Lexus's from them (a LS400 and a LS430) and now the Edge, they wanted to make sure I would be back as a return customer. I will be. Getting a lower rate AFTER the fact is a first for me!

  2. I've ordered a kit from a vendor that is color matched to code UH - Tuxedo Black. The kit includes a surface prep solution, color coat, and clear coat. I plan to scuff the already primered grille parts, use a tack cloth, then do the prep solution. A couple of color coats, then clear coat or two should do it. I'll try to post pix when I have the project done. Should have all color matched grille parts painted and installed for under $200. Not bad.

  3. Great experience with this dealership. Saw an '11 Limited AWD in Tuxedo Black on CarGurus last week. Did the obligatory fill in the blanks notify dealer email and David Gilmour at the dealership got back to me the same day. Went in to test drive it on Tuesday and bought it the same day. It was stickered at $18,999 with 65k miles. Immaculate condition. All service docs. We agreed upon $17,900 and I bought. I am very happy. We have dealt with this dealership before when my wife leased LS400 then a LS430 Lexus and they really are quite nice. Very reputable. Was in and out in about 2.5 hours including test drive. Very happy with the car and the purchase experience.

  4. I was hoping to find one already painted Tuxedo Black so I could just install it when it arrives. After searching around a bit, I'm beginning to think a pre-painted one is non-existent. Probably have to go the primered route and have a shop paint it.

Yes, the Sync voice commands are a bit overwhelming, like learning a new code. I may just use the regular touch button controls. But the technology in this car is very impressive. Coming from an older Explorer, it can be a bit overwhelming. Come to think of it my Ex also responded to voice commands. Whenever she didn't want to start I'd have to sweet talk her a bit and pat the dash. Then she'd fire right up. :)

  5. Just bought a 2011 Limited AWD 3.5L today! 301a package, MFT, all the bells and whistles. Black/Black w/ 20" chrome wheels, panoramic roof. 65k miles. Moved over from an Gen II Explorer. Very happy with car and with the deal. Looking forward to getting tips and input from all y'all!

Edit: I have read a bit about getting the front grill painted to match the body but I am interested in finding one already painted and ready to mount. I have seen them advertised as 'primered ready to paint' but not already painted. Anyone have a source for a pre-painted grill?

  6. Hello from Dallas, Texas! I am a new member and am considering buying a Gen II ('11-'14). I will be moving from a '98 Explorer 4.0 SOHC 4x4 (212k miles!) and I am interested in the 3.5L AWD Limited. I have my eye on a 2011. I was hoping to get some insight as to what things to look out for in a Gen II and if there are any particular years within the '11-'14 models that were recommended or not recommended. Also, were there any significant model changes/upgrades within the Gen II model years.

Thanks for any info in advance! I am happy to be here, and will offer whatever I can that might be relevant. Perhaps after my Edge purchase I might be able to contribute a bit more, but will probably also have some questions also!
