  1. The silver gauge face is extremely difficult to see in certain lighting conditions, where the black is much easier to see.
  2. If you go back a few post I show some pictures in the last picture it shows the amp just below the nav unit. It probably measures 8 x 6
  3. I found a used Edge SE cluster and a Ford Fusion cluster. You have to reuse the original cluster otherwise you would have to reprogram a different cluster. I carefully removed the needles and reremoved the silver face, I then took the SEL face for the gauges, since the SEL doesn't have information center I used the Fusion center part. With the dash lights that has the signals, check engine light etc. and the information center. I could have used the original cluster center but did not want to cut it up. The only thing I wish I could have covered up better is where the SEL has the stem hole for the trip reset under the speedo gauge. But I don't think is to noticeable. But it really does make a difference and now the dash seems to have a better flow since all switches are black and white. I really didn't notice the dust until you pointed it out Lex and I did clean it off. Thanks Ed
  4. Recently changed the silver gauge face to black. They are much easier to see than the silver facees. I think Ford should have done this with all the Edges.
  5. The part number is AL1T18K931AD which I found out is actually for the 2010 model year for the Edge, F-Super Duty, Econoline and Expeditions
  6. I installed the 2009-2010 nav unit in our 2008 Ford Edge that had the nav unit with the steering wheel controls. I purchased the unit off Ebay which was removed from an 2010 Edge, It included the external amp, I had to purchase an extension cable for the sirius antenna since that gets plugged into the radio instead of the sirius module. The wiring harnesses are the same so no modification is needed. I reprogrammed the radio myself because the dealers said that installing the newer radio could not be installed in the vehicle, I think only because they do not know how to do it. I bought a VCM and the IDS software which hooks upto the vehicle and is used to reprogram the radio. If you could find one to use that would save you some money they run about $1500 I used a 2009 Ford Expedition as-built codes for the radio because the Expedition had the backup camera option. But I am not sure If the start up logo would change with the as-build codes. It is fairly an easy swap and can be done. I think the layout of the new nav unit is much better than the 2008 model I am very pleased how it turned out and everything works, sync, sirius and the backup camera.
  7. According to the workshop manual B1342 relating to sirius is the module. The dealer will clear the DTC's and if the code shows up again the module will have to be replaced.
  8. I purchased the unit off Ebay. The person removed it from an Edge. The part number is AL1T18K931AD which I found out is actually for the 2010 model year for the Edge, F-Super Duty, Econoline and Expeditions. When I hooked up the unit everything seemed to work. I then hooked up the VCM and used the IDS software and it showed DTC's for the radio. When you first use the VCM and IDS it scans the vehicle according to the VIN number It then asks if the Vehicle is a 2008 or 2009 I tried to reprogram the radio using 2008 but it would not program the radio you have to choose the 2009 because the NAV unit is used in the 2009 - 2010 model years. Then you have to go under program moduals and reprogram the radio. As long as the vehicles have the same options it should work. You just need the VIN number and go to http://www.motorcraftservice.com/vdirs/SPubs/default.asp?pageid=spubs_as_call&menuIndex1=34 Type in the VIN and it gives you the AS-Built code look for code 727 which is for the ACM "audio control module" Their are six codes you have to type in using the IDS software. So I used the Expedition and I didn't know the Expedition had the camera option till I hooked up the rear camera. But everything works and now their are no DTC's using the VCM and IDS. If you look at the scans of the IDS it shows that the ACM passes both the optional equipment modual test and network test which means the ACM is communicating with the vehicle.
  9. I forgot to mention you need the external amp with the harness and the sirius antenna gets plugged into the radio instead of the external satellite receiver module so you would need an satellite extension harness.
  10. Since the 08 had the steering wheel controls no special wiring was required. I had to program the radio so the vehicle would comunicate with it. The wiring for the radio is the same for a 08 and 09.
  11. I installed a 2009 Nav unit in our 2008 Edge with factory navigation unit. I had to reprogram the radio using a VCM and IDS software. I used the 2009 Ford Expedition as-built codes with the same options and it also included the backup camera option. All the steering wheel controls work as well as sync and travel link. So It can be done.
  12. I finally finished installing a 2009 Ford Navigation unit in our 2008 Ford Edge. I am now waiting for the lockpick to hook up the reverse camera. Changed the as built code to add the color palette option from the Lincoln using Forscan.
  13. It does not look to bad. The panel that the emblem is attached is plastic and is removed and I had to cut some of it out for the camera harness. I then used a metal strap to hold the emblem base to the plastic panel. I actually purchased a new plastic panel because I did not want to cut up the original panel. The wires are ran through where the license lights wires go. Then I run the wires like Lex did. It would have been real easy for Ford to do this on the new Edge's I don't know why Ford doesn't offer them.
  14. You can make the seller an offer, thats what I did and she accepted my offer for the one with the harness. I paid $145.00 for the one with the harness and they shipped pretty quickly and its packed really well.
  15. I purchased both models, the one has a short harness that is actually atached to the camera and the harnes is stiff, the other one has the harness that plugs into the camera housing. I think the one that has the harness that plugs into the housing is a better design.
  16. I purchased the one for an MKX and installed it in our 2008 Edge.
  17. I purchased a 2009 Ford Navigation radio off Ebay that came out of a 2009 Ford Escape part # 9L8T18K931AG. I hooked up the radio in my 2008 Ford Edge everything seems to work, the gps, sirius radio, phones that I had on the original radio show up in this unit. The only thing I don't understand is why when the radio fist turns on the splash screen shows the Mazda logo and the vehicle must have been a hybrid because one screen shows items for a hybrid vehicle. One other problem is when the radio plays for about 10-15 minutes it will freeze up, none of the buttons will work and you have to unplug the radio and wait for it to shut itself down completely roughly about 10 minutes you can plug it in again and it will work. I am wondering if the radio was reprogrammed it would work right. But the Mazda logo has me stumped. Did Ford make the same radios for Mazda.
  18. I used the Ford Lockpick, I purchased the Ford camera with the emblem off Ebay for $145.00. I also purchased a new liftgate moulding since it had to be cut out for the camera to fit and did not want to mess up the one that was on the car. I think it turned out pretty good, I wish the liftgate moulding was more flat instead of having the raised line running thru the center then the camera housing would have fit purfectly. I am surprised Ford did not make this available for the Edge.
  19. Ford backup camera on 2008 Ford Edge. July 24th reprogrammed radio using FORScan so I now have the color palette option that was offered on the Lincoln vehicles.
