  1. My roof is closing but it is slowing down while closing and I can hear the motors trying hard. Less than 6.000 miles on a new 2016 car. It opens perfectly smooth and quiet. This is a big deal if this is happening as much as this thread implies. The dealer wants the car for a few days to sort out the problem. I thought it was just a simple lubrication problem. I will bring that car to the dealer every time it does not work as advertised. I will establish precedence for my future protection.

  2. Bummer, Galpin Auto Sports will not install the brace. I need a longer bolt and not just any bolt, that bolt is a Alignment Cam Bolt. The bolt has a cam on it to adjust the rear camber. Although they could custom make me a new bolt, GAS believes that the liability is too high. So it is a no go on the brace. If I can have one made myself at a machine shop, perhaps they would then do the install.

  3. DANGER, Will Robertion, DANGER.

(a.k.a B9 and/or Robie The Robot from Forbidden Planet)

If I were you, I would change the lubricant in your PTU immediately.

Several here feel that a single case of overheating the PTU is sufficient to turn the lubricant to a thick goo and this causes the failure of the PTU.

If your not convinced, at least pull a few drops from the case and check it, see if it's black or thickened.

Thank you, I will check that out. I take very good care of that car and a heads up like that is nothing to be ignored. It has less than 6K on it and I have changed the oil 3 times already. 1,000... 2,500, and 5,000. I will have the PTU oil changed just in case as it is in the shop now having some custom work done. Can't hurt anything but my wallet .

  4. The STB was such a success, I have decided to add the rear brace this week. Galpin Auto Sports is doing the install as custom longer bolts are needed. The install itself is a 10 min easy access job, but the stock bolts are too short. After installing the STB the steering became laser like and was less effort on turns to keep a line. Both front tires stuck to the road and the improvement was substantial. The problem now is the inside rear tire is unweighting in high-speed corners. It is my hope that this is the fix. After the install another alignment is necessary as the brace attaches to the rear suspension. I will let you know how it works after this weekends canyon run.

  5. First I love them!! They are so much better than stock. The Stock brakes could never keep up with my needs.

I now have a few thousand miles on them and have pushed the car so hard in the canyons that the transfer case quit and over heated . All I had to do is give the car a rest and I was back in busness. A warning sign popped up saying that AWD was temporally unavailable. I have also have pushed the little 2.7 so hard in those canyons that the turbos got so hot that the car put up a warning that said pull over and let the car cool down for a while. The tempature guage was at normal.

Now back to the Rotora Brakes they never quit, they never faded, they let me go very deep into the corners over and over and they never complained while other systems could not keep up.

For those who said drilled rotors suck let me show you two cars that could have any brake system in the world. First a Shelby Super Snake GT 500. Carol Shelby would not specify Drilled Rotors in his super car if they sucked .

Now the next car cost so much to argue that Drilled Rotors Suck is just nonsense !

This is a custon Rally Racing Porsch where the brakes have to run in mud on track and are tortured on a regular basis . Guess what it has Drilled Rotors !!! Check it out doubters.

This close up is out of focus but you can still see the Drilled Rotors. post-46130-0-36852800-1501023377_thumb.jpg

Drilled Rotors on a Rally car ... The horror LOL :)

So there you go Drilled Rotors Kick A** They are standard equipment on Supercars over the world!

My front brakes -15 inch Rotora Drilled Rotors with six piston Calipers. Rear Rotora 14 inch Drilled Rotors with 4 piston Calipers. Rotora as of this post is the only manufacture to produce aftermarket brakes for G2 Edge Sport.

  6. She caught on, busted.... She walked around the back of the car and said your car is not as quiet as it used to be. Took her 3 weeks to notice. I said nothing ;) .

After living with this exhaust a while I can say at times when under load going slow, a certain frequency will resonate in the cabin that is too loud for my taste. Thats the only fault I have found with the system. It may have to do with the pipes not going far enough into the exhaust bezels for all the sound to get out.

  7. Makes more power, noticeable seat of the pants. Tires fight for grip coming out of corners and on up shifts. But the tune needs tweaking now that air can flow better in and out. I believe it needs a bigger shot of fuel when you step on it. Now I have to see how it runs in stock tune. It made more of a change than I thought it would, and not all for the better. I will get it sorted out.

If I had to guess, the chime sounds like it came from your dash cam. It was likely cheering a nice run on the Snake. :2thumbs:

I like the sound of the MRT, it sounds like it has a bit more of a growl (on accel) than their YouTube videos. I'm still on the fence about getting it myself.

That chime was loud as ******* and scared the ******* out of me. LOL. So it was not the car, that is good to hear. No worries.
MRT is louder than stock inside the cabin for sure. I would make sure the pipes go far into the exhaust bezels to get the sound out of the car, and that the pipes are centered in the bezel. I think mine are set a little to far back into the bezels, wish they came out another inch or two.
The tone is noticeably lower and fuller they sound good without being to loud.
The tone is not Ricey but more European in nature.
It is a leap of faith to do it without hearing it first. I wrestled with that for a long time.

I told the installer that I wanted to keep the muffler and that I might reinstall it if I don’t like the MRT system . I even got a price to reinstall it before I had the work start. I brought a packing blanket with me to take the stock muffler home with me . I wasn’t even sure it would fit, but it went in with room to spare.

I respectfully disagree, unless you have metallic tint or a metallized windshield, of which the Edge has neither. As such, signal attentuation and the impact on range is negligible with a high mount versus a mid or low mount.

The OP has a 2017 Edge. When mounted to the visor the detector would be below the tint, just like mine.

I have a valentine radar detector mounted the same way, but on the passengers visor.

  10. Yes, I've run mid to low 13's at the track. I haven't yet ventured into race gas territory but I will the next time I head to the strip, anything to get a couple tenths, right?! 1,500 seems like too low of an RPM to induce wheel hop as the torque curve has barely started its' rise to peak...

What LMS tune did you use to get mid to low 13's? When I am running a tune I use the 91 Performance.

  11. This video is going down the snake with the MRT Axel Back System and STB installed. I had a warning chime go off. Does anyone know what it was? It is at the end of the video.

Notice how I do not struggle or fight with the wheel as I do in the first video, that is the STB working. And check out the difference between the stock exhaust note in the first video and the MRT system in this video. I am running with the windows closed and the air on in both.

The important part to me is at the very end when the chime go's off. What is that?

Front snorkel mods are popular, and they work. There is obviously some concern with water intrusion, but time will tell. Also keep an eye on the insulation, I know you said high quality, but is it wind-tunnel proven? Insulation is a great idea, just not sure I would be using a mat like that.

    Good work overall, great pics!

Thanks, The mat is glued down and cannot move it is similar to header wrap very tough stuff. The parts I removed were approximately .375 wide x 2inch long x .125 thick a very small amount. The new intakes could take in water or bugs, but I did not cut that much away or alter the grill intake side. All the cuts were inside . As I live in a dry climate I am not that concerned, I took all that into consideration before I did the job. Hope I am correct and there are no problems only benefits .

    *********** Update   12-04-2020

Continue to test and there have been no problems with water or bugs. The mat is still in place and looks good.
