  1. Thanks Snmjim and Special K for doing the research, design, engineering.

Least we forget to thank y'all for bringing dreams to reality by sharing your findings with those of us that would like to put more sport into the edge sport.

I don't even have a edge sport. But I am interesting in tuning and modding her when I do.

There is a old saying that if you have to ask how much something cost than you can't afford it. Nevertheless I have to ask.

How much is the total cost of the intercooler and BOV?

I'm sure there are others that may be interested once they know the numbers etc.

    Thanks in advance.

    Onyx

    U R most welcome OnyX,

It's good 2 note that at least a few appreciate our efforts after having to tolerate so much opposition & criticism from other members.

People forget that this is truly a labor of love/common interest and we're not getting any benefits or kick backs, it's totally a community benefit.

The prototype cost $850, however note it's a one of a kind and significantly larger, we wouldn't have R&D this one had there only been a 5% benefit (i.e. CX IC) per another members post in this string. The intent was to find an IC with siginifncant improvement for the stock turbos & should one choose to upgrade turbos this IC will also handle the higher demands and eliminate the need to change the IC again... :hat_tip:

We're estimating an all around 25% benefit N size & Perf, that's a preliminary educated estimate based on physical measurements and an initial performance check.

Note: we are still scheduled to R&D with CPe for their IC after their finished doing the form, fit & function on the Fusion Sport which is installed and under test & evaluation as I type... :clapping:

As far as the BOV...go to my BOV topic and there is a link to the vendor (Turbosmart).

Hopefully this provided the answers U needed... :drop:

  2. I guess my question still kind of remains. the edge has some kind of diverter valve already, so the main difference between the stock valve, and this blow off valve, is that it supposedly doesn't crack open under higher boost?

i'd be interested to know where this info came from as to our stock valve opening under higher boost. as far as my conversation with livernois, i was told that is not the case on the edge, even with their v3 tune.

    Try going to:

    http://www.turbosmart.com

    For more in-depth facts...

  3. Hi,

I've been logging my "Manifold Charge Temp" when doing 0-60 WoT it goes to about 160 in the summer and 100 in the winter (well Ca winter which is like 40-50).

So assuming I am just using this thing as a dog hauler and not a track machine, any reason why I should think about upgrading the intercooler?

What about passing from 60-85, maybe I should log that?

    Remember...heat is an engine's & engineering enemy

  4. I'm taking a survey of how many are seriously interested enough to put down a $100 deposit with me so I can put in an order for the IC shown in the Pics below which were also posted in one of my previous write ups in this string.

Depending on the level of interest/hard orders I will attempt to get us a group discount and only tack on a $50 handling fee unless the manufacture is willing to direct ship each order.

Until we do some Dyno testing, which will happen some time this year, the preliminary unofficial Specs from the manufacture & Special K are:

    - Bolt in application after an easy modification of the IC part of the AGS or simply removing entirely

    - 25% over all increase (size & Perf)

    - Based on the Fusion Sport IC results with this manufacture you can expect to see around 50-70 degrees less IATs

    - Estimate 4-7 tenths off of your acceleration times

    - Cost with shipping $850

    Notes:

    - The vendor is prepared to manufacture the first mass production batch and needs a solid Qty in the next 1-2 Wks.

    - We're still scheduled to perform R&D, fitment & testing with CPe for their IC sometime in the next 1-3 months.

    - It is apparent that we're looking at significantly more than 5% gains with this manufacture as opposed to others mentioned in this string and other topic threads.

  5. BUMP!!!... :love_shower:

Thnx Manu for chiming in, you're right on the money... :worship:

In addition, the stock BOV's spring is weak which allows for premature pressure/charge release.

Also as we Mod we need the ability to make blow off adjustments.

Special K is much more savvy in the specifics of this benefit, I'll ask him to chime in... :whistling:

I realize that many of you have been patiently waiting for this information but unfortunately there are those who can find the time to take what we have to offer but can't find the time to give back.

That being the case here, to spare you any further delay I'm going to at least provide the pics and highlight in red the areas of focus.

  10. In hind site I can say with even stronger conviction that I made the right choice with this car.

Being a 60 year old gear head, road racer, owner of many foreign and a few domestic cars, logistics engineer, perfectionist, Ford hater and non biased evaluator I can say there has never been a more well balanced vehicle in my possession or evaluation portfolio.

If your looking for the following you can't go wrong for the money:

    Mid size SUV/Crossover

    Passenger & cargo room

    Handling

    Power

    All around performance

    Reasonable mileage for the power

    Easy to work on

Reasonably priced manufacture parts & accessories

    Reasonably priced service

    Low maintainability

    High reliability

Loaded with technology, bells, whistles and the creature comforts of high end status SUVs/Crossovers i.e. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volvo etc.

Note: All of my comments are specifically in reference to the 2015-2018 Ford Edge Sport only.

However, I was informed that the top of the line model "Titanium" with the largest engine they offer is to be considered as well if your more
    into creature comforts & luxury.

Thnx goes out to Burrcold & akirby for keeping me accurate... :hat_tip: :hat_tip:

  13. I know in most cases the hot inlets normally come from the same direction. but couldn't one inlet come from the top, one come from behind, or the side, or 45* angled from either?

i don't know much about IC's, or if there is a particular reason both inlets generally come from the same direction.

Since i have yet to remove my bumper to get a look at it, is there any space above the IC? I'm looking at some universal ones from a lot of different companies, but some are up to 11" tall, and i don't know what it looks like as far as space back/up/forward of the stock mount

Go back through this entire topic & there's a lot of Info & Pics 2 bring U up 2 speed.

Also use this link 2 help U with the front:

  14. I also took measurements for the stock intercooler since I have mine upgraded to 100% aluminum/bar&plate

    STOCK

    Core Overall

    L 25 7/8'' 37''

    W 2 1/2'' 2 1/2''

    H 6 1/8'' 8 1/4''

snmjim - interested in understanding how they would keep both pipes separate in such a tight space, but would be good for standardization across the platform

Not sure how I can convey the 2 into 1 pipe (aka Y pipe) concept & room any better without specific questions... :banghead:

When U remove the Y pipe there is a space there which might allow for the dual pipe concept direct 2 the IC.... :reading:

However, piping is the least of CPe's concerns at this point N the project.

The big issue 2 B ID is will there B enough room behind the hot side of the IC 2 allow 2 inlet pipes that shoot straight back instead of one big pipe going up & ever so slightly back...

All questions & concerns will B addressed once we get on the rack at CPe... :hat_tip:

  15. In an effort to keep the thread topics pure I'm responding to Mikula's IC Info request that he posted on the RMM topic thread here for the benefit of all.

    My Response:

Ref attached Pics of the stock IC.

Note: The two piping schematics are of the 2016-2017 Edge Sport & the 2017 Fusion Sport.

However, due to CPe's direction to keep their proprietary Info confidential for now I cannot distribute Pics nor measurements.
I can say that their striving for plug & play. At this point their considering to remove the 2 into 1 pipe on the hot side and go direct into the IC with dual inlets. This will be better for performance and allow cross compatibility with the Fusion Sport. I've also suggested they replace the cold outlet pipe with a consistent circumference pipe.

  16. only halfway off topic, but what are the dimensions of the stock intercooler vs the prototype. i can't find info on the dimensions of our stock one anywhere i've looked.

In an effort to maintain thread topic purity I've responded to this under the "Intercooler - Sport" thread at:

  17. Contrary to popular belief and for those anxiously awaiting the CPe RMM it's finally available! :happy feet:

It is true that CPe made the statement in the past that they weren't making any Edge Sport specific parts however, they've agreed to work with us to R&D any potential Fusion Sport parts that could be shared with minimal customizing, we are finally on the CPe radar... :clapping:

We completed fitment without an issue and are in the break in process using a 2016 Edge Sport AWD.
It's an 80 Duro bushing and so far there's more vibration (NVH) being fed back to the passenger compartment as would be expected over the stock RMM.

    http://cp-e.com/shop/ford

    http://cp-e.com/shop/product-category/ford/ford-edge-2-7tt-15-18/

There's no need to do a "How To" for this since it's only two bolts and it's as simple as the Pics show... :hat_tip:

    Pics:

    - Stock mount
    - CPe mount
    - Comparative of the two
    - Installed Pics
    - Ultimate Performance RMM (red) used by Bishop

    Updates:

    - NVH was resolved with CPe by updating the RMM with a 60 Duro bushing. The 60 Duro bushing gives a pleasant positive power train connection along with a comfortable NVH factor. A major positive difference from the 80 Duro. CPe claims their RMM is currently used on vehicles with over 1000 hp of which we'll never see on this platform. This concludes our RMM study.

Sig Line: There's a point at which you have to realize that the pig is enjoying the mud wrestle...:hat_tip:
