  1. After updating to Sync v 3.0 notice a few differences. Navigation screen now has "find a place" as an option instead of "find a POI". Though the voice prompt after saying "find a place" still says "name of POI". LOL. There are also fewer prompts for finding a POI than before which is a good thing I guess. Before used to get prompts for "search where", would have to say "in a city" or nearby", now it defaults to nearby. Screen still has the momentary lockup occurring. Pandora radio had trouble connecting which I've never experienced before, though that may or may not be related to the udate. All in all I think if I could go back to Sync V2.2 I would, didn't have the screen lockup and everything worked okay. Usually when updating from a version 2.X to a version 3.X one would expect major improvements. I would like to know what changes were made with the 3.0 update.
  2. Did the update today to 3.0 using the USB flash drive, took less than 15 minutes. So far see no real difference, road trip tomorrow will see if the screen lock delay is any better.
  3. For those that have updated to version 3.0 do you see any difference in performance from v2.3. My edge recently did an auto update from 2.2 to 2.3 and since then I experience screen lockups that last 20-30 seconds at random when switching between functions. Didn't have that before 2.3. Does 3.0 solve this? Are there any issues with V3.0? I have downloaded it onto a flash drive but have yet to install it.
  4. thanks for the links guys, I'll order from Amazon next time.
  5. Well, my update completed via Wifi, version 2.3. I guess updates via wifi are delayed as opposed to USB updates.
  6. I checked this morning to see what version I have and it showed 2.2. I then clicked on "check for updates" and a bar showed an update in progress, around 20% complete. I guess it's updating automatically while by vehicle is parked at work. It's connected to my workplace wifi. I checked it later and now it's showing around 80% complete. Don't know what version it's updating to, I assume V 3.0
  7. Thanks, looks like it's available for my Edge. I'd like to know what is different, sometimes if it aint' broke don't fix it. My sync V 2.2 is running pretty good and doing what I need. I think I'll wait until we get some feedback. Ford owner site not very specific about what the update does.
  8. Well I've recently come into the 21st century with dropping the land line and getting a smart phone. I've downloaded the apps Android Auto, Ford + Alexa and Pandora and have them working with sync. I'm an Amazon Prime member with Prime Music Unlimited which pretty much will play any song you can think of that has ever been recorded. So far the Alexa app has become my go to for playing music. Create song lists on Amazon and pull them up. Even works with the sync voice control button on the steering wheel. Listen to any song that comes to mind. Pandora is great also for hearing music by artists I never knew were out there. So far Android auto is taking a back seat. I'll use it for Waze nav when I'm going to places unknown since Ford won't update their Nav maps. What do others use Android auto for? Any other apps out there that play well with Sync?
  9. Yea, I'm not a fan of Fram products, but that's all I could find. The OEM has at least twice the number of pleats. It was really dirty, surprised really since I only have 15000 miles on the Edge. Next time I'll probably get a K&N or the OEM at the dealer.
  10. got my edge early march 2016 so this is the 3rd season of pine pollen, thought it time to change the cabin filter. Not too difficult, released the catch tabs on the glove box and then the limit link to expose the housing behind the dash. Two screws to remove, made sure to use a magnetic tip screwdriver and then open the filter housing. Filter was fairly dirty. replaced with fram fresh scent. Old filter on the left.
  11. $150 on top of the $800 outdated option to get what is essentially 2016 maps? Is that what I am reading? Guess my Garmin will play backup when traveling to parts unknown, though I have recently canceled my landline and gone to cell phones. Have Android auto working with google maps or waze, and data charges..........would much prefer to use the sync system with navigation that I paid for. Ford really needs to step it up with the navigation or just drop it and quit pretending. (misleading customers)
  12. Good idea, I tried it but the link is pretty scrambled. really doesn't have a coherent VIN number to substitute for.
  13. I was thinking the same thing. but then again only 15000 miles? Hopefully plugs last longer than that, ecoboost or not. The service tech said it was probably a faulty plug, but now I don't know. Anyone else replacing plugs at 15000 miles?
  14. Thanks guys, I guess the link I posted in the OP is the closest I"ll get. I was considering a used Edge Sport or Lincoln MKX and would like to see the original full sticker with price. Most of the used ones at Ford dealerships have a link to the original sticker, but there are many available low mileage trade-ins at BMW and other luxury brand dealers for good prices. We like our Edge so much we're thinking of selling our 08 Sable and getting another.
  15. I had no idea what the problem was. My best guess was the mouse that built a home on top of the engine had a feast on the wiring. Quite the coincidence that this problem arose a couple of weeks later. http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/23929-wife-saw-a-mouse-this-is-what-i-found-what-is-it/ The service adviser explained that with modern analysis equipment they can pinpoint the cylinder that was the problem and zero in on that. Last time I worked on an engine problem I had room to climb in next to it and take a distributor cap off and set the points or spray some cleaner in the carb to clear it out and free up the choke after spinning the wing nut off that held the cover on the air cleaner. Changing the eight spark plugs took less time than figuring out where in the heck they are on engines today. I usually ask whenever I have a repair done for the provider to save the parts that needed to be replaced. I would have liked to have seen the spark plug that caused this also.
  16. Picked the Edge up today, all is well. Here is the service report, apparently a spark plug problem. If anyone can decode this and provide feedback I'd appreciate it. I'm concerned with having this problem with only 15000 miles.
  17. Had it hauled to the dealer yesterday, contacted them today and they found a problem with one of the spark plugs. We'll see, I could drive it a few miles to the store and it would be fine, but after it sat 15 or 20 minutes and I started back home that is when it would start missing. So I think before we drive 50 miles tomorrow to pick it up I'll call them and have them try that.
  18. Any website available where I could enter a VIN number for a used Edge and view the original window sticker? The link below will show the configuration with options but not the full sticker with build date, gas mileage, safety ratings, and most importantly for my purposes the MSRP. https://removeandreplace.com/2013/03/24/find-your-cars-window-sticker-online/
  19. Thanks, I always buy good gas, either Exxon/Mobil, Shell or Costco. I'm hoping it's just one of the sensors for the emissions. Read where they can cause the symptoms I'm experiencing. Right at 2 years and 15,000 miles so warranty should take care of it. My only concern is that I am 50 miles from my nearest dealer, don't know if I should try and drive it that far or not. Going to call them Monday and get an appointment and see what they think.
  20. Looks like a trip to the dealer. Started out today started misfiring again, check engine light flashed for awhile and then stayed on steady.
  21. Started out today in my 2.0 ecoboost, engine felt like it was misfiring, running rough. Drove about a mile and the check engine light started flashing, about a mile later things smoothed out and all is back to normal. What may have happened? Are there error codes stored that my dealer could check upon my next service visit?
  22. I checked the hood insulation, it's intact. The white stuff looks like batting, have no idea where it came from It was clean and snow white, no evidence of mouse droppings or urine anywhere. I'm just concerned that maybe it came from inside the car. We don't have anything in the area that has the white batting. I guess for now it's a mystery.
  23. Wife saw a mouse come out of the engine bay when I back out of the carport. Investigated the next day and this is what I found. Any idea what it is and where it may have come from? Apparently it was building a nest under the engine trim cover.
  24. Are any of the replacements "direct" replacements? In other words, anything out there that doesn't require solving a jigsaw puzzle of plastic adapters that come with the blades? I yearn for the days when all you had to do was squeeze a couple of clips to release the rubber part, slide it out and slide a new one in.
