  1. I live in the Deep South, (Alabama), and I still have the original wiper blades on my Edge. Two years now. Unheard of here, the Edge sits out in the full sun five days a week when I'm at work. I've never had blades last more than six months before becoming less flexible and leaving streaks. I'll definitely be replacing with OEM blades when the time comes. I always clean the blades when I wash the Edge. Agree with PERFA comment about clay barring the windshield also. Clean windshield and clean blades = longer life. One other thing I do is apply Aerospace 303 to them a few times a year. Just started doing that recently after watching this video. I also use the 303 on the dashboard, black cladding and black trim. keeps it looking like new for a long time.
  2. Thanks for the changes the updates provide guys. I guess I'll wait until the latest update happens automatically like 2.2 did.
  3. My vehicle updated from 1.0 to 2.2 this summer, didn't even realize it until I check for the version. Now there is 2.3 and an upcoming 3.0? What do these updates do? I noticed nothing different between 1.0 and 2.2. What does 2.3 and 3.0 offer that 2.2 doesn't? (or 1.0 for that matter) I live by "if it ain't broke don't fix it", ever since I did an update on an HP printer I had and the update prevented me from using generic ink cartridges.
  4. Yes, that is a different one than what I had ordered. The descriptions are vague both on amazon and the AVS website. This is the one I had ordered and returned that is a stick on https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00W1MA5PA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
  5. I'm relatively new to this forum also. Your post title is the DRL's are too bright, so you replaced the boring yellow halogen's with LED's. I have a 2016 titanium and I thought the DRL's were LED's? Why would you replace the boring yellow halogens with LED's and want to dim them so they become boring LED"s????
  6. That's what I am looking for. I ordered an AVS bugshield but apparently they make different models for the same vehicle. The one I ordered was a thin stick on, I wanted the screw on so I can remove it. Can you provide the model number of the one that screws on?
  7. I had ordered a Auto Ventshade 322115 Large Aeroskin Acrylic Hood Shieldfrom Amazon and promptly returned it for a refund. Didn't like the idea of sticking it to the paint. I'm looking for a bolt on, removable shield. I had one for my '93 explorer that served me well. Could take it off for washing & waxing. I have noticed on my 2016 Edge that I have nicks & dents right on the leading edge of the hood from rocks & debris on the interstates. My goal is to minimize the damage in the future but not with something that can't be easily removed and re-attached. The one I had for my explorer curved under the front line of the hood and attached on the inside of bottom edge with screws. Any ideas?
  8. Looks good on the Chevy. It has a well defined mid-body line. Maybe on the edge do the roof all the way down to the line running from the bottom of the tail lights across the door handles.
  9. Interesting thought. I looked at the electric spice edge photo at the top of the forum page and tried to imagine where the two colors would meet. Thought the roof in black down to the hood and the line just above the taillights to the back door might work. but then again....... Maybe someone with more computer skills than I could photoshop a couple of color options. Not sure it would work with the titanium or sel with all the black cladding at the bottom
  10. Maybe, if I were a programmer looking to do harm I don't think I would pick a name like dvil. I did do a scan after installing the add on with both Windows defender & Kaspersky. Nothing detected. but then you never know. It is nice to be able to see the photos in the posts again when researching solutions to problems.
  11. Saw this on another forum, thought I would pass it along. If you are using firefox browser add this extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/ If you are using google chrome or chromium add on this extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/photobucket-hotlink-fix/kegnjbncdcliihbemealioapbifiaedg?hotlinkfix=1506768501086 Your old bookmark MIGHT take you to a really messed up page(I had a glitch in firefox on a proboard site). If it does either logout or login, the proper looking page should now appear.Create a new bookmark. At this point your forums with photobucket photos should all appear and work just like before photobucket tried to rob us of our photos After installing the plug-in, make sure you either: 1) refresh any open tabs; 2) close and restart Firefox; 3) flush your internet cache. The plug-in does not take effect until you do one of the above. Rebooting works also. Some people in other forums were saying they did not see images after installing the plug-in, but it suddenly started working later or the next day. They did not do the above.
  12. I guess I'm an old tech dinosaur. I have a smart phone but it is a windows phone and it's also an ATT go phone which is like using a prepaid phone. I currently have to have a land line in the remote area I live in to have internet and i cant afford both that and a cell phone bill. so the only time we use the cell phone is when we travel and pay by the minute. I really see no reason why Ford can't provide map updates at least annually. But then again if they are going to charge $150 for them, #*%# it.
  13. too bad that after spending $795 for factory navigation that we still need to rely on other "free" or less costly devices for the latest & greatest. I just looked up what I paid for my Garmin I purchased on Amazon back in 2015 and it was $99. Now it dangles from my windshield when I travel to "parts unknown". don't get me wrong, I love my Edge, wouldn't hesitate to buy another, but it sure seems that Ford could do a better job of supporting their software. (and customers)
  14. thanks, I went to the website and see that there is no update for my 2016 Edge, even though I drive on new roads that have been open for a couple of years now. While on the website i was curious what an update would cost so i punched in an update for a 2012 Fusion. Cost was $150! For a map update? I paid less than that for my Garmin with lifetime maps & traffic. Not quite sure why I paid so much extra to have navigation in my edge. When traveling to parts unknown I have to take my Garmin with the latest updates.
  15. I need to update my maps, is this something the dealer has to do or can I do it?
  16. Thanks, I'll leave well enough alone, "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
  17. why is it that when I go to owner.ford.com I get the message that I recently downloaded a sync update and it is vital that I report back and go through the USB download and install? I guess it did it on it's own via bluetooth or wifi, I wasn't even aware of it but when I go to settings it does show V2.2. Confirm Your SYNC UpdateYou recently downloaded a new SYNC® update. It's vital that you report back on your successful upgrade so we can alert you to the newest features in the future. Is it really necessary to go through the confirmation process which involves seeming doing the update again? SYNC Software UpdateView All Available Updates 1.PREP FOR DOWNLOAD 2.UNZIP FILE & MOVE TO USB 3.INSTALL FILES TO SYNC 4.REPORT UPDATE TO FORD Step 3 of 4 Take the loaded USB drive to your vehicle. Start your vehicle and plug the USB drive into the SYNC USB port. Make sure your vehicle is turned on and running. Can't find the SYNC USB port in your vehicle? Check your Owner's manual to see where it's located. SYNC 3 should automatically initiate the software update installation process. Once it starts, wait for the update files to completely install. Installing the update files to SYNC 3 should take about 30 minutes. Do not remove your USB drive or turn off your vehicle while this update is in progress. Shortly after installation has begun, SYNC may quickly display “Installation Complete.” Ignore this message. It refers to a specific phase of the installation, not the overall update process. The system will reboot, which takes several minutes. Do not attempt to use SYNC during this time. After the system reboots, SYNC will display a pop-up requesting the owner set up Automatic System Updates, please press “Ask Me Later”. Approximately 10 minutes later (timing may vary per update), SYNC will display “Installation Complete” and request the owner to remove the USB drive from the USB port and perform a complete ignition cycle. It is now safe to remove your USB drive and turn off your vehicle. The vehicle is required to be completely off for at least 5 minutes. NOTE: Once you have successfully installed the software update in your vehicle, you will need to re-pair your phone with SYNC. When you are finished installing the software update files to SYNC, bring your USB drive back to your computer to report your successful installation. It's important that you report your successful software update installation back to us. This helps us alert you when future software updates are available. Next: Report Update to Ford Need help?
