  1. One unexpected problem with some aftermarket locking caps is leakage of pressure. Its usually enough to fail emissions testing . It will also set some check engine or check cap lights . Check a dealer for this item first ,its one of those times saving a few dollars might not be worth the hassle.
  2. Nice . I saw lots of Steeda products and/or sponsorships fro Mustangs at the NASA Championships this year at Mid-Ohio . Great companies that support the enthusiast are always welcome. Hope to see some fantastic products for the EDGE now.
  3. My question is if the dash harness plugs into the fog lamp equipt headlamp switch or if another harness piece is required there ? I have a set of bezels already from our body shop ,one perfect ,one with a few tolerable bubbles in the chrome. I plan to buy Depo brand copies of the OE lamps through our body shop and fabricate my own harness for the lamps ,I have the connectors . I just need to know if the dash is prewired.
  4. It helps support the load floor also . I was considering a custom particle board and plywood one with fiberglass and paint . Maybe build in some compartments for tools .
  5. No we haven't . Some of the light timer circuits for this type stuff doesn't like a different electrical draw. Pourquoi?
  6. 2008 EDGE SE ,see sig below for options, (sadly no SYNC) but nice for close to base equipment. After the heavy discounts locally , $21,700 . Added Easycare to 75K and still out the door after down payment with a $370 mo payment for purchase ,not lease. The retail price on the window was $27, 025 before delivery cost etc.
  7. We were looking to replace my wifes FWD van . She liked the color ,style ,ride and features . I liked the price (Ford D plan ) and performance . We had 3 people at my work wanting our old ride ,so it all came together this past Monday . Love the size and features even for just being an SE with a few added ons. Already have the fog lamp bezels and rear bumper pad. Looking to see if I'll use factory fogs and switch or add another switch with aftermarket lamps.
  8. What color caliper paint against 2008 Light Ice Blue with 18" silver painted 10 spokes? I'm considering G2 Blue ( mid-Navy) or Duplicolors Med Blue(brush on kit) if not just silver painted so they look finished.
  9. The chrome mirror caps can be purchased alone from dealer I've been told.
  10. My wife doesn't like the front headrests so I was thinking of removing them and seeing if the rear will work up front. If so I will buy an extra set of rears . I know they did those front ones for safety but that angle forward is too extreme. From just eyeing them I believe both front and rear are spaced the same width . Has anyone tried this?
  11. I think Goodridge is making a set for about $105 . I think I saw them on the NOPI website.
  12. These vehicles are so new there are only a few choices in brake pads that I've found and no REAL performance products in the brake arena. My belief is that within 1-2 yrs someone like EBC , Mintex or Hawk will come out with a good street pad ,but it will just be a waiting game. I'm sure something will appear since the Edge also shares some platform pieces with the Mazda CX-7 and Mazda6 as well as the Lincoln. Performance springs are already available and few people realize that a good spring set can shorten braking distance as well ,so that is a future consideration also. The only other improvement I could see is a larger front rotor and respace the caliper outwards . The larger the wheels on your EDGE ,the more the braking will be deminished ,due to the moment of enertia being altered as the tire/wheel weight gets farther out from the rotational axis. Moving the caliper outwards on a larger rotor would have a greater braking effect and still allow the stock pad style to be used .Braided brake lines are already available but there is debate on them making much change other than feel . I believe they do help in a very small way but aren't going to make enough difference in distance.
  13. I'm in NE Ohio ,the Akron /Cleveland area . In the local paper I can see three area dealers giving discounts like I stated above. Yes ,discounts can vary by region so that should be taken into consideration. I did state in my comment from the start that I didn't know why you didn't get more discounts ,but in my area of OH that this is what I've been seeing . Thats why I didn't buy a Chevy from my own dealership (place of employment) but instead took delivery tonight from one of the Ford franchises our dealed group owns.
  14. Here is one of my other cars ,1998 A4 quattro . In winter mode with Blizzak snow tires . I have other wheels and wider lower tires for summer .
  15. Not sure why you didn't get more discount . Most of Ohio is giving about $3500 to $4000 discount total on 2008 models for starting to clearance them. I think $2750 in rebates were available from Ford alone. I'd price shop another dealer , look in you local paper and see who is the heaviest discounter.
  16. I work in GM dealer but we have a Ford store . I would never consider an Aztek . My wife will get her new Edge within the next week ,waiting on withdrawal of some investments to get the papers final . Drove it and we both fell in love with it . We considered an Equinox but couldn't find a cloth interior locally so went with the EDGE SE . My wife can't stand leather seats ,but at least that means she doesn't drive my Audi much. I'm also an Audiworld forum and Nissan forum member. I hope to be able to find some good resources here and offer my knowledge from 25+ yrs in the parts and service business . We have 17 makes available in our company and its to Ford's credit we decided to buy another of their products after 12 yrs of no blue ovals in my garage.
