  1. Not sure if your question got answered, OP. I just did this with mine. No need to remove the brake light. Open the hatch and remove the center trim piece at the top of the rear window. Just give it a firm yank. The wires from the 3rd brake light are behind there. And let me tell you how much it does grab attention. I have the flasher on all of my cars. It does not go unnoticed by people behind me. I get calls a lot, "is your brake light supposed to flash?" Yes. "why?" It grabbed your attention didn't it? It does a quick 3 flash, Similar to a firetruck or ambulance. As for it being annoying to the person behind you, oh well. But to be nice, mine has the capability to disable the flash for 10 seconds after hitting the brakes. So in stop and go traffic it doesn't flash every time I hit the brake.
  2. No I legitimately want the shift handle buttons to use as the select shift buttons. The paddles will then be used for the horn, but that is irrelevant here. The wiring will not be very involved at all. I have access to schematics. It would be simple as cut the wires to the paddles and connect the shifter to them.
  3. Wiring would definitely need to be reworked. Not a problem for me, and could easily do a write up on the wiring side of it to help others do the same. If the shifter from another car fits.
  4. Yes I do have the paddle shifters but dont really care for it. I always have a hand on the shifter its a habit from driving a stick. So Id much rather have the buttons on the shifter. Was just wondering if someone knows if other ford models use the same style shifter before I order one
  5. Does anyone know if the shifter handle on the 2G Edge is the same used in other ford models? Im wanting to get one with the +/- buttons and that handle is not offered on any model Edge, but models like escape, focus, and fusion have the same style shift handle. Just need to know if one from another model might fit. Thanks ANSWER in post 31 HOW TO post 38
  6. Simply because I want it. It comes in handy for things like: a bicycle riding in the middle of a busy road. Anyone texting and driving or just not paying attention. That person that wants to go ten under the limit for no reason. Deer in the road or when they run in the road, or anything at all in the road. That asshole that tries to cut you off or turn out in front of you. A group of road workers standing with their hands in their pockets not doing any work. Its especially handy when youre behind a diesel truck that blows black smoke on purpose, Honk the train horn near a cop and the truck will get stopped for it. Just a novelty thing really. Ive had it on all of my vehicles.
  7. Hey guys. just bought my 15 sport a few months ago. Came from a fusion, and had a train horn on it that I am in the process of transferring into the edge. There is not as much room to work with on the edge lol. The horn, if anyone is interested, is a Hornblasters conductors special 228V I believe. The ~$500 kit, 4 trumpets, 2 gallon tank, 150 psi, fast fill compressor. I have already fitted the tank. It is mounted between the rear subframe and sway far. with JUST enough room for the exhaust pipes to clear it. I got lucky with this spot. The compressor is mounted in the rear quarter panel, with little room to spare. Air lines go through the grommet thats in that area and out to the tank. Two things I need help/suggestions with. And will be happy to do a write up when all is done and working. 1. I don't plan on using the horn button to honk the train horns, for multiple reasons. I didn't use the horn button on the fusion either. What I would like to do is get the shift handle that has the +/- buttons used for select shift on other vehicles and use it for select shift, and then use the paddle shifters on the wheel to honk the horns. I used to drive a stick, and even now keep my hand on the shifter just because. So Id much rather shift with that than the paddles. So I need to find out a part number for possibly a fusion or a focus shift handle with the buttons if they will fir the edge(they appear to be the same style and size?). Ive gone to the dealer and they are no help. Wiring is no issue for me. 2. Any suggestions on where to mount the horns? Room in the front bumper? Biggest horn is 30x6x6.
  8. Yeah Im not sure what setting it has to be on then. Ive tried it all
  9. Theyre definitely factory. Theyre molded into the D pillar and face forward towards the seats, and are wired into the factory looms. There is nothing aftermarket on this car its a clean slate.
  10. First post here, thanks for the add. I bought a 15 sport about two months ago and I love it. I came from a 2006 Fusion with a manual trans, compeltey made it my own. And am looking forward to doing the same with the Edge. But first things first theres a few things I'm curious about. I noticed that the rear speakers in the D-Pillar don't have any sound coming from them. I made sure they are plugged in behind the quarter panel, I was already back there taking care of rattles from the subwoofer with foam. Do these only turn on for surround sound with say a DVD? Ive tried playing music from FM, bluetooth, USB, and have the speaker setting on surround rather than stereo. But nothing from these speakers. Coming from a sedan that had speakers on the rear deck under the back window, the edge is missing the sound from behind so I want these speakers to function. I suppose I could wire them into the back door speakers at the amp.
