  1. My Phoenix Systems coolant test strips arrived today. Results show my coolant is still ok after 2 years. I'll keep watching it.
  2. Anybody try Phoenix Systems coolant test strips to see if you're changing coolant too early or too late?
  3. Yes, mine is a 2018 3.5L with the internal water pump. Yea, I changed from orange to yellow coolant 2 years ago and am considering changing it again. Thanks
  4. I asked Google when I should change the coolant in my 2018 Ford 3.5l. Google AI said every two years. Tested the coolant using the multimeter method described in this video, after 2 years it still reads ok. Should I get my coolant changed? Thanks
  5. Do you change the coil packs with the spark plugs?
  6. My problem with Ford is this copied from the owners manual that is simply not true, Recently at about 58k miles I pumped out and replaced the RDU fluid in my Edge. This significantly improved my MPG and how the car drove. Changed my coolant to yellow couple years ago. Fingers crossed.
  7. Be sure to service the RDU. It's a real PIA because there is no drain plug. Changing the RDU improved the way my Edge drives and I seriously doubt it was fully filled at the factory. Am very disappointed in this "sealed for life" BS in the Ford owners manual and repeated by my Ford dealer when I ask for service.
  8. Ok, I'm lost here. Most recommendations I've seen say we can go 30,000 miles between PTU fluid changes. Are people changing fluid at 30,000 or 10,000 in the OEM PTU? Thanks
  9. Check your owners manual. Mine says SAE 80w-90 for RDU and SAE 75w-140 for PTU
  10. That tube you used is a little bigger than what I had on-hand. Next time I'll give it a try. I used AMSOL in my last PTU change and I've got Motorcraft ready for the next. I was late on the RDU and wanted to get it done because there are mentions of RDU failure/replacements here and on youtube. The fluid I took out was really bad. Another thing I noticed is the rust and pitting on the exhaust pipe from my cat on back to the muffler. Isn't this supposed to be stainless? Looks like it will fail soon and I'll need a new pipe and muffler.
  11. Not sure what diameter of silicone tube you're using, the only tube I could get to fit was 1/4 inch. The RDU is packed tight with gears and a big one right behind the fill plug opening. It took me three stores to find SAE 80w-90. Finally settled on Lucas SAE 80w-90 heavy duty gear oil. Thanks
  12. Ok, that's what I was looking for. Hoping the fluid change will prevent a RDU failure. Thanks
  13. Is there a drain plug on the 2018 RDU? My 2018 PTU has a drain plug. Did they put a drain plug on the RDU in 2018? Videos on the subject show a pump out by hand from the fill plug and not getting all the old fluid out. Thanks
  14. No, I didn't upgrade the battery just went with the recommended one from the Interstate website for my 2018 Edge 3.5L. Thanks. Just wanted to be sure.
  15. I put in the recommended battery from Interstate. Besides resetting the BMS is there any other changes I need to make? Thanks. https://costco.interstatebatteries.com/results?key=auto&Program=100500&ZipCode=75254&l=75254&Country=United States&year=2338750&make=2339667&model=2339683&engine=2339689&option=2339690 Your Battery Information Item Number 1700454 Group Size 90 (T5) CCA 600 CA 750 Voltage 12 Ah 56 Length 9 1/2 Width 6 7/8 Height 6 3/4 Weight 32.1 Termination Code TOP Wet/Dry W
  16. Perfect. So the new tire is on the same rear axle as a tire that's just been riding around not used for much braking or acceleration. It's just like a new tire. Those tires will be moved to the front in the rotation. Thanks
  17. Pretty sure my rear axle doesn't disengage at cruise speeds. That feature was added to 2020 and later AWD models. Starting tomorrow I'll be rotating my tires twice a year with each oil change.
  18. Wow 2/32 -3/32 isn't much. This is my first AWD car. Drove 100 miles today, no issues no messages drove great. I'm not seeing in the owners manual where it says how many miles between tire rotations. When I bought the tires they recommended about 6000 miles. I'm way past that and should've been watching it. This means my front tires are worn as they do most of the stopping. When I get them rotated this would put the new tire up front. So I think I'm ok with a tire rotation. Fingers crossed. Thanks.
  19. I also got this recall for my 2018 Edge with 3.5L V6. The car just passed emissions test fine, I have no lights or issues and am reluctant to take it in.
