  1. Wow, thanks for the great information. Really a great breakdown of the systems.

Interesting in the ad (#2) where they talk about the Sport Mode...."all-wheel-drive-calibration for balanced front and rear torque distribution".

In Advancetrac sport mode I could feel (and see on the screen) the all-wheel-drive becoming much more active.  I even tried it on the highway and even though it becomes front wheel biased, the system activates the rear wheels with less accelerator pedal input.

Almost seems like it would be a benefit to have the all-wheel-drive more active in wet/rain road conditions.

  2. I know I'm a bit late to this post, but it's kind of interesting how they are cooling the ptu. Correct me if I am wrong, please.

They tap into the cooling output hose on the radiator and use an electric motor to circulate it through the ptu cooler and then it returns back to the radiator hose??

  3. Yes, that was my personal preference. DE badging seems to be a popular thing here in Ca.

A couple other things I noticed between the 2021 I traded in for my 2024:

    Rear camera washer is gone.

    The glovebox light is gone.

    passenger seat is now a 6-way adjustable (2021 was a 10-way)

No more Key-pad on the driver door for keyless entry.

And the 70.00 tray of course.

The glove box light was nice to have.

  4. Here are the 4 things I did to my 2024:

    Hood insulation blanket.

    pass through rubber pad.

    console tray.

removed the EDGE emblem, kept the ST.

Other than the emblem removal, I did it to complete the vehicle. Not sure if that makes sense but it felt like those things should be there. I love the ST

  5. I was able to do a bit of testing today and the AWD seems to engage more when in sport mode. Seems to be a relatively big difference. I think whole reason for the rear wheel disconnect is for fuel economy, but in sport mode it is not a priority. I'm going to do some more testing in different conditions to verify. Thanks so much for all the great info and the chart!  Wonder why they say don't use sport mode on public highways. ???

  6. Well, it ended up coming from the resonator. Something internally came loose causing a rattling noise once the exhaust was warmed up. Horrible sound. Luckily it was a warranty issue. Thanks so much for all your support!

  7. Seems like it utilizes the rear wheel drive more. When I toggle to the AWD image on the dash, it seems to show a lot more power being allocated to the rear wheel drive.

I seem to remember a few years back, a post about a customer who bought a new edge and he lived in the snow. He was disappointed at how minimal the all-wheel drive system kicked in. I told him to try sport mode and he said there was a significant difference. I not 100 percent on this but sure seems that it is part of the sport mode.

  8. Ok just found it. Not sure why it isn't in my manual. Just trying to figure out what they mean by "more spirited driving experience", but it does seem to make the AWD system more active. Just wondering when you would want to use this feature. ???

  9. So, I recently discovered a somewhat hidden feature (not in the owner's manual) with the ESC button. If you double tap the button it puts the Advancetrac system into sport mode, I found out about it on a Youtube video.  It looks to be a feature on the 2019+ St models. I have tried using it while toggling to the AWD screen on the dash and it seems to make the AWD much more active while driving. Has anyone had a chance to research this feature and find out exactly what it does? Kind of interesting that there is nothing about it in the owner's manual.

  10. Although I am more confused than ever, this is a lot of great information. After a good examination of my 2024 2.7 Engine. I see no signs of a secondary fuel injector for the intake valve. I do however see a very extensive network of piping and hoses throughout the intake system. In addition to emissions, I wonder if they have taken measures to minimize the carbon buildup on the intake valve. How long do these engines go before they have any issues? I guess a lot could be based on frequency of oil changes, quality of oil AND gas etc.

But aren't most engines today direct injected? Is it possible to get 100k plus off the 2.7 gen 1 without problems?

  11. Ok, according to the research I just did, the Gen 2 came out in 2018 and has the dual fuel injectors (one to keep the intake valve clean). The Gen 2 is also known as the Nano and is the same engine. What I don't know is what year they started using it in the Edge St. I'm guessing 2019?

  12. I just picked up my new 2024 ST and it is awesome! Since there is a good chance we won't see it 2025, you might want to give it some thought. It is becoming an older platform, but it is still competitive with a lot of the newer stuff.  I got the wheel and brake package, and the handling is amazing!  Also got the 401A options.

The 12" touch screen and 12 speaker B&O sound system are icing on the cake.

The newer ST's have a cool feature, if you double tap the ESC button, it puts the Advance Trac in to sport mode, making the AWD quite a bit more active. Kind of a hidden feature not in the owner's manual.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks to have the 2.7 Nano engine which has port direct fuel injection (2 injectors per cylinder). I'm trying to verify.

  13. So, When I bought my 2021 St it came with the tray. I just traded in for a 2024 model and it did not have the tray. I kept the tray from the 2021 and it fits the 2024.

My 2021 also came without the hood insulator blanket. I bought one (from Ford) and it was very easy to install. I transferred it to my 2024. The final item was the rubber pad for the front pass through (between the driver and passenger seat. Seems like these things should have been there.

  14. Thanks for ALL the good info. I did narrow it down to the midsection of the vehicle and found a YouTube post of an identical year vehicle with the about the same miles. He recorded the sound and it was identical. He said his ended up being one of the mufflers which I believe was the resonator. Going to do some more troubleshooting before I head back to the dealership. I'll post my outcome for sure. Thanks Guys!

  15. Not to get off subject but i having a rattling issue with my exhaust on my 2021 St. Sounds like it is coming from the resonator. What I can't find is a good description of the individual components in the Edge St exhaust system. From observation it looks like the exhaust exits the heads from each side of the engine, goes through its own separate catalytic converter, then both exhaust pipes enter the resonator before traveling back to the muffler at the very rear of the vehicle. Is this right? Thanks for any feedback.

  16. I know this is an older topic, but I have a 2021 Edge St that has just developed an exhaust rattle at 13000 miles. It happens around 2000 rpm when I rev the motor. Definitely coming from the exhaust system around midway under the car. I climbed under and checked for anything loose or damaged. Nothing. Also noticed the noise is not noticeable until the car is warmed up. Did a bit of research and believe it might be in the muffler, which I believe is in that location where the noise is coming from. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

  17. Hello everyone, I have a 2021 Edge St with 13,000 miles. It just developed a rattling sound underneath the car when I rev up the engine. I can be in park or driving. There is an exhaust rattle around 1900 to 2200 rpm. Very noticeable when I rev the motor a bit while in park. Especially as the motor is decelerating. Seems to happen only after the car has warmed up a few minutes and is definitely in the exhaust system. I took it to a local Ford dealer, and they were too busy to take a quick look. Trying to get some feedback before I take it in. Thanks for any help.

  18. I have a 2021 Edge ST with the same problem. I took it back to the dealer in June. I got a response that Ford was aware of the issue and there would be an OTA software update, expected sometime in September to correct the issue. As of today, my issue has not been corrected.

I know I'm a bit late getting into this topic, does anyone have an update????

Below is a copy of the email response from Ford.

I’ve noticed while driving on the highway that my hood seems to flutter up and down when it catches the wind.  Has anyone else had this issue?  It seems to be more prevalent on the driver side.  If the highway has enough bumps you can actually see the hood bounce and rattle around.  I’ve checked to make sure it is latched correctly and it looks fine it that sense.

Mine Too. Kind of scary to see this, is it safe?
