  1. As i was a professional installer for 12 years . i would ALWYAS run to a true ignition source meaning i would wire them to the ignition. Some say oh just wrap it around a fuse. Go ahead and do this, but i dont believe in ghetto installs. There are way too many different wires under the seats and you can easily hit one of the airbag wires and poof there it goes. Now your dvd install turns into a $2-5k job because you have blown airbags.

according to my sources it should be a violet/green wire at the ignition harness. tap into this wire and place a 10-15amp fuse inline and call it good. this wire is the accessory wire so that when the ket in at the first click they screens will be on.

DISCLAIMER: USE A DMM TO TEST THIS WIRE. THIS WRE SHOUDL REST AT 0 AND GO TO 12+ VOLT WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE ACCY POSITION

  2. i would go aftermarket. any brand will work with that sync retention harness. its not brand specific. There are 2 different harnesses. 1 has a little screen so you can see the functions (whos calling, ipod info) the other has no screen so its just a matter of guessing. neither of these will show any info in the radio itself. On top of this you need to make sure that any radio you buy has an aux input. this is how the sound gets into the radio.

The other thing you can do too is just get a radio with bluetooth and an ipod adapter. yes you do lose the steering controls.

  3. Funny i just now find this post...

Here in Minnesota during the winter i would have to fill mine on a regular basis (about once every week or every other). It always seemed to be the fronts. Finally now that its nicer weather here i have only about once a month.

Back in jan, my wife decided to hit the edge of a snowbank and it broke the bead, i brought it to a NTB tire shop they used some sort of sealant and its worked great (besides for the little residue they left on the rim that i had to get off). That is the only tire i have not had to fill in 3 months.

I have a friend who works a the stealership where i bought my sport and he came up to me one day and asked out of the blue if my tires leak. i said yes. he told me its not just a 22" thing its all of fords larger stock rims.

Im just trying to get another 10k miles out of my tires, then off to a new set (maybe i will hit an enourmous pot hole and make a claim...)

  4. did you tag the correct lights wire? was it a pos or neg trigger? loc?

did you hook up the accessory wireand all the ignition wires?

It sounds like you are missing something or its a bad unit.

sorry to say this but you get what you pay for and in my many years as a professional installer i would never install a bulldog. i would quote in just labor more than our units were installed so they could see how much trouble they are.

  5. Personally i would find another locksmith that has the programmer and drive to them. i would think that if you go to them it would be a little cheaper. the down fall with only having 1 key is that you need the programmer to program the other keys.

most dealers dont break down to the 1/4 hour or anything so they just charge you an hour of labor.

from what i have heard is most dealer will charge about 75-100 for a cut and programmed key. since you didnt buy the key from them they will charge a little more on the labor. that is how all shops are.

  6. Try and unlock the car with the key. if for some reason your edge actually has a a factory alarm (very few do, most do not since its an add-on option since 05 in fords) this disarms the alarm.

It sounds like your BCM dropped the programming of the keys. hopefully the bcm is not shot and they can just reprogram the keys. I had a buddy this happened to on his 04 f150 and he needed to replace the bcm.

  7. Well you really only have a couple options.

    1. replace it with a new or used "factory unit"

    2. go to an aftermarket (you can get a name brand that has all the bells and whistles dvd, bluetooth, nav for about 500-700)

3.pull it out and send it to a place like this http://www.unitedradio.com/ that fixes them. you would be without a radio in your car for a week or 2.

you can not use an external screen.

the radio in these vehicles are easy to remove. all you have to do is pull out on the bezel that houses the vents/ climate control. its just held in with clips all the way around. if its never been removed it will be ight to get it out.though.

  8. you might need new dash bezel and climate controls. Its all one integrated unit (heated seat buttons/ climate control).

Aftermarket kits are very reliable. you can get kits that are just a hi0low setting or ones that are like the VW's where they have a roller type switch and have multi settings. i have installed many of these and never seen any fail. keep in mine you will need some speciality tools to remove the fabric and to reinstall it.

  9. And when I got my key made I asked the dealer again and they said it had PATS only, he looked up by the VIN. I have a scan of the window sticker that cleary shows no

You tell me where exactly I need to look and I will shoot you a video to show you there is no alarm on my base 2011 Edge.

I have not yet seen an 2011 so that you may be right one. however on the 09-10 there is a flashing light that looks like a key on the instrument cluster

  10. Sure it does. Have someone sit in the front seat. Lock the doors with the keyfob and wait 1 minute, then have the person inside open the door. The horn will start sounding, the lights will flash and the ignition will be disabled. Almost all Fords have had this feature for the last decade.

when i installed my aftermarket alarm/ remote start i tested for it just like that and nothing happened. i have been an installer for about 12 years at varrious shops.

its been an option since 05-06 on all fords. most of the sales men think the vehicles have them and will tell you they do, but infact they dont. They dont know any better
