  1. I just picked up my 2010 Edge AWD today. Around a 50 mile drive home on the interstate. I got 22.4 MPGs according to the trip computer. Hardly anything to complain about on a vehicle that had 40 miles on it. My 2007 Edge FWD could barely get 23-24 HWY. Wife's Subaru Tribeca can barely get 21-22 MPG HWY.
  2. Thanks everyone. I appreciate the input. I pulled the trigger and traded in my 2007 Edge SEL PLUS (FWD) and got a 2010 Edge SEL AWD. I got the Candy Red Tinted. I tried to get the tires to spin on the rainy streets but couldn't. The Edge AWD is equally as great as my wife's Subaru Tribeca. Feels very solid. Thanks.
  3. I am going to be trading in my 2007 Edge FWD for a 2010 AWD. What are your impressions of the AWD performance in rain and snow? My wife has a Subaru Tribeca so I guess I would be surprised if the Ford Edge is even in the same ball park performance wise.
  4. Trade in your Edge and get a Prius. I can't stand that people complain about mileage in vehicle rated at about 17 or 18 MPG city. If you wanted better mileage, get a hybrid. It's not like you should be surprised by the performance.
  5. I'm looking at trading my 2007 Edge SEL PLUS (FWD). A dealer in Omaha, NE quoted me $31,952 on a MSRP $35,670 Edge SEL AWD. Invoice is $32,983. Then I would get $3750 in rebates. He's also giving me $22,000 for my 2007 which books for $21,950. That is the best deal I have found.
  6. THAT WAS MY POINT. I HAVE NEVER EVEN HAD A LEASED FORD VEHICLE INSPECTED. THEY SEEM TO ONLY CARE ABOUT MILEAGE. I ALSO DON'T GET WHY ANYONE WOULD PAY FOR REPAIRS ON A LEASED VEHICLE. THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT OF LEASING, SO YOU HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS UNDER WARRANTY!!!!!!!!! IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG YOU TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO GET FIXED FOR FREE.
  7. "I personally do not care for Leasing, but only mention that quickly. Dealers always make more on a Lease when all factors are considered. When a Leased vehicle is turned in, they will inspect it and charge for every door ding, carpet stain, "unusual wear and tear", etc. Those costs will need to be figured into the final costs. You probably already knew that, but I mention it in case you are a first time " THIS IS LONG BUT VERY INFORMATIVE....... DUDE YOU ARE WRONG!!! I HAVE LEASED 4 FORD VEHICLES FROM 3 DIFFERENT DEALERS. EACH TIME I TURNED THEM IN, THE DEALER DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THEM. THE ONLY THING A FORD DEALER WILL TRY TO GET YOU ON IS IF YOU GO OVER THE MILEAGE ALLOWED IN THE LEASE. ALSO, I TURNED IN EVERY ONE OF THE LEASES 1-6 MONTHS EARLY WITH NO PENALTY, AND IN FACT THE DEALER GAVE ME TRADE-IN VALUE ON THE LEASE. WHEN I TURNED IN MY LAST FORD LEASE, 4 MONTHS EARLY, THE DEALER GAVE ME $2,200 TRADE-IN VALUE TO LEASE A NEW EDGE. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS WHERE LEASING GETS TRICKY. THE DEALER IS GOING TO MOVE MONEY FROM ONE CATEGORY TO ANOTHER SO BE CAREFULL TO STILL NEGOTIATE THE SALE PRICE AND INCLUDE THE $2,200 OR WHATEVER TRADE-IN YOU GET. HERE'S WHY LEASING JUST MAKES SENSE. I LEASED AN '07 EDGE SEL PLUS, MSRP $32,490 WITH NOTHING DOWN EXCEPT MY "4 MONTH EARLY LEASE TRADE-IN" FOR $349.00 PER MONTH FOR 36 MONTHS INCLUDING SALES TAX. MY TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP OF THIS VEHICLE IS JUST THE 36 PAYMENTS =$12,564. IF I WERE TO HAVE BOUGHT IT WITH $2,200 OFF MSRP WITH A 6% INTEREST RATE 72 MONTHS WOULD BE $539.68 INCLUDING MY 7%SALES TAX. TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP FOR THREE YEARS IS $19,428.48 60 MONTH LOAN WOULD HAVE BEEN $22,633.80 REMEMBER MY COST ON THE 36 MONTH LEASE $12,564.00 SO I CAME OUT AHEAD $7-10,000. THE EDGE RESIDUAL VALUE FOR 36 MONTHS HOVERS AROUND 49-54% OF MSRP. THUS, THE VALUE OF THE EDGE THAT YOU BOUGHT WOULD BE ROUGHLY HALF OF MSRP AFTER THREE YEARS. IF I BOUGHT MY EDGE, I WOULD HAVE HAD TO SELL IT FOR $7,000 MORE THAN IT WOULD BE WORTH AFTER THE THREE YEARS TO BREAK EVEN. SO, YES YOU OWN IT. BUT, NO YOU DON'T HAVE ANY EQUITY IN YOUR EDGE. FORD VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE GOOD RE-SALE VALUES. I TRADED IN MY 2003 EXPLORER MSRP $30,000, BOUGHT NEW FOR $18,000, ONLY MADE $1,200 WHEN I TRADED IT. YES THAT'S RIGHT FOLKS. I GOT A $12,000 DISCOUNT OFF STICKER PRICE, HAD A 60 MONTH LOAN AT 5.85% INTEREST, AND ONLY CAME OUT AHEAD $1,200. THAT WAS BLUE BOOK VALUE!!!!!!!!!!!! CONCLUSION-----A LOW LEASE RATE VEHICLE LIKE MY 2007 EDGE 0.75% IS THE BEST BET. WHY PAY 6-7% OR MORE INTEREST ON A CONVENTIONAL CAR LOAN WHEN YOU CAN PAY 0.75%APR ON A LEASE????? LOWER INTEREST=LOWER PAYMENT= MORE MONEY IN WALLET YOU CAN'T LEASE ANY CAR. HONDA, TOYOTA, SATURN HARDLY EVER HAVE GOOD LEASE DEALS. BUT IF YOU WANT A NEW FORD, LEASING IS THE ONLY SMART DECISION.
  8. Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. I really hated reading the post by the guy who is so disappointed with the Edge's braking that he's going to get a Mazda CX-9. The CX-9 stops 10 feet better than the Edge!!!!!!!!!!! Some people just aren't happy with anything. I am not saying the braking shouldn't be improved, because it should. I am just saying it isn't a reason to rule out getting the car. And don't say you're going to get a car that is only a couple of feet better at braking. These are the same people who take 20 minutes to pick out a carton of eggs or a gallon of milk at the grocery store.
  9. I hear ya. Some people can't be swayed when it comes to HAVING to buy American. I was trying to sway a friend of mine into getting an American vehicle instead of the Rav4. She wouldn't even look at any non-rice burning car/suv I suggested.
  10. How much did it cost you to get the front 2 windows tinted? What is the % to match the back 2 factory windows?
  11. Amen, brother! It is what it is. It isn't a hybrid or a sub-compact/compact 50 HP rice burner. It is a big, roomy, CUV with A LOT of get up and go. I think some people thought they were buying a Toyota Prius that just looked like a Ford Edge.
  12. I KNOW!!! I was just being sarcastic. I meant it to be funny that we (Americans) are the only country in the world that doesn't use the metric system.
  13. First off, I would like to start with a couple of questions for you Canadians. What's a kilometer? What's a liter? Having said that, I would like to comment on my SEL Plus FWD MPG numbers so far. I only have 700 miles on it so far and they are all city. When I left the dealer's lot said "10MPG." The vehicle actually had 95 miles on it. They were using it on their ENORMOUS lot to drive customers around, so it was probably idling alot. By the time I was nearing empty later in the week, I had it to 14.1 MPG. I decided to try to see how long I could go on the "LOW FUEL" indicator. I finally filled up when it said 20 MILES TO EMPTY. The next tank I got 17.2 MPG 100% city. I am looking forward to next week taking it on it's first road trip out of state. 450+ miles one way, all interstate. I will post my HWY numbers when I get back. I would also like to respond the the Edge/MKX drivers who are getting worse than EPA estimates. Do you idle alot? Are you warming up your ride for 15 minutes? Are you driving to work or wherever and sitting there with the engine running. The computer doesn't like it when you are stopped and the engine is running. You get 0.0 MPG for every second you are stopped and the engine is running. So even if you would have been getting 20 MPG, adding a bunch of 0.0 MPG idle time to the 20 MPG could easily make it 10 MPG. I am completely satisfied wtih my numbers so far. It is exceding my expectations (which were based on a small number of complainers). I just hope some people weren't swayed into not buying it based on the few people who aren't satisfied with their MPG stats.
  14. Yessss! Finally, someone who agrees with my wife and me. I think some of these people are just whiners. Or maybe they need to eat their Wheaties.
  15. I don't get all the hype about the lift gate! It isn't hard to lift at all. Do you guys want it to magically open on it's own? Some effort is required but not THAT much. I honestly don't know what the big deal is and I sincerely hope that people who are considering buying the Edge don't read these forums and take some of your posts as fact. My first time opening the lift gate I said, "WOW, I REALLY DON"T KNOW WHAT PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT." And then my wife opened it and agreed.
