  1. It just seams idiotic to me to have the roof only open part way, or close part way. When I open the drivers window I push the button and it goes all the way down, why don't they do the same for the roof? As for the sun shades, I wish there was a way to only close the rear and leave the front open. Having a 8 month old that loves to sleep in the car, but when the sun is directly over head I have to close the sun shade for him, even though the front passengers want theres open. Also when you 'Tilt' the roof the shade has to open. I had a '90s T-bird and Taurus that you could leave the shade closed and tilt the roof to vent. It was great for those hot summer days to let the heat out of the car, but reflect the light out as well.
  2. Is it just my Edge or are they all made this way? When the vista roof is all the way open and I tap the close button, it only closes about 3/4 of the way, then I have to hold the button to close it the rest of the way. Same thing when opening it. If I tap the open button it only opens 3/4 of the way, then I have to hold the button to open it the rest of way. And again, same with the sun shade, if it's open it only closes part way then I have to hold the button. But when I open the shade, it opens all the way with one single tap. Is it just my Edge, or are they all this way? Izzy
  3. In my opinion every engine produced today, and in the last 10 years, should be able to run on E-85 Ethanol. Everybody is pushing using the stuff, but nobody wants to produce an engine to use it because it will add an addition $50-$100 per engine. There are few engines that you can get that run on E-85. When I bought my '05 F150 King Ranch, I couldn't use E-85 in it because I had the 5.4L that came in the KR. If I would have ordered a F150 Lariet with the 5.4L then it would have been able to run E-85. Now who is making those rules??? I would love to help out the Ethanol producers here in America and support my local farmers, but if the automanufactures don't get it together and start producing vehicles that run on E-85 then why are we building all these Ethanol plants and spending money on researching ways to produce Ethanol cheaper and easier on the enviroment. My wife and the local cops laugh at me now that I am driving my 1969 Harley Davidson Golf Cart around town. I rebuilt it last winter to use on the golf course and drive back and forth from the course (all 6 blocks). Now with gas prices I am in the process of getting it certified as a Neighborhood Vehicle, or slow moving vehicle, so I can drive it around town. From my figures I am getting close to 50 mpg from the 12 hp Briggs that I put in it, and that's at 20+ mph. Just a good thing that I live in a small town.
  4. If I was going to bet money on the problem, it would either be in the ignition or a computer malfunction. The thing that may seem a little weird is that they disconnected the battery to shut it off. On my '99 F250 you don't need a battery for it to run, only to start it. Now if you turn on the lights, a/c, etc. they may dim down a little, but the alternator should produce enough juice to keep everything running. So I am not sure how unhooking the battery did anything? But then again, 8 years newer in computer technology, who knows.
  5. This is funny. I noticed the 'jerkyness' in my Edge yesterday as well. I was heading here to see if anyone else had posted anything about it. I guess it's is a common problem.
  6. So I have around 1200 miles on my Edge SEL+ FWD. I have the 18" crome clad wheels and stock Continetal Cross Contact (or something like that) tires. The tires have been handling just fine since we bought it until the last couple hundered miles. There is one stretch of Interstate that I hit everyday that has groves in it. When going over this stretch of road the Edge shakes back and forth like you are wiggling the wheel. This goes on for 15 miles. It's not real bad, but it just started. So the road isn't new, about 5-8 years old. I've driven multiple different cars on the same stretch of road, and only my Edge does this. I have checked the tire pressure, thinking that maybe I had a tire going low. They where all good. Has anybody else had a similar problem? Is it the tires? The road? The suspension? or me (as my wife says)? I am going to have the dealership take a look at it when it comes time to do my first oil change, or sooner depending on what I find here.
  7. I just hit the 1000 mile mark on the Edge. 250 mile trip to Kansas City just completed last weekend. The Edge averaged right at 22 mpg at 77 mph for both directions of the trip. The in town mpg is a little worse at 17 mpg, but I drive like a 16 year old after they get their first liscence, so it's not all that bad. I did do one 70 mile trip at 60 mph and did get 25 mpg. That also included some starts and stops on the 2 lane black top in some small towns along the way. So far I have been very impressed by the mpg in the Edge. It's a heck of a lot better then the 14 in the F150 we traded, but it doesn't have the cargo room, which I do miss.
  8. Put the first tank of gas in the new Edge yesterday (Sunday). The wife got 19ish on the very first tank. It was a relief to fill the edge compared to the F150 it replaced or the Superduty that I drive. It cost me $40 to fill the Edge and $120 to fill the Superduty. This gas thing is getting out of hand!!!
  9. I will be picking up my new Edge SEL+ on Saturday morning. Thanks for everyones help!!!!
  10. I understand that the Edge will not get car type mileage. I am just checking to make sure that it is getting a little closer to the mfrs. numbers for mileage. When I bought my F150 the sticker said 18 hiway 14 city. With no mods I had a hard time getting 14 on the hiway. Only after $1200+ of after market stuff do I get what the mfr. says it should get. I just want to make sure that it will consistantly get 20ish mpg.
  11. Ok how about this. Most of the time the mileage that I am worried about is the straight, flat interstates of the midwest. I have family in K.C. and Minneapolis. We make frequent trips to both places. About 200+ miles one way. The last trip I did was up to Minneapolis. 75-80 mph nonstop, no wind, 75 degree day. The F150 got just under 17 mpg. Will the Edge pull at least 20 on the same trip? From what I am reading I will be giving up a truck that I love, to get about the same or only 1-2 mpg better. Not sure if the switch is worth it???
  12. I am looking at trading in my wifes 2005 F150 Supercrew King Ranch on an Edge SEL+ FWD. After 2 years of aftermarket add ons to the F150, I have finally got the MPG from 14 to 18 MPG. But the wife hates parking the truck and wants better gas mileage. So what is everyone getting for gas mileage. Any posts will be great. We have all but signed the papers to order one, the MPG is kind of the last factor. My wife usually drives highway only miles here in Iowa. So there is no stop and go traffic and she does very little city driving.
