  1. I've had my 2007 for 5 years and used my sunroof and sunshades with no problems all seasons. The main concern is to keep the rails clear of debris. I try to clean them once a year to keep everything closing smoothly.
  2. 2007 FWD SEL Great Vehicle, Very happy! 100k
  3. Look for the topic "Changing the serpentine belt on a 2008 Edge". This is covered there. Good luck.
  4. I too had trouble with this and even went and bought a "slimmer" breaker bar which I returned. I endied up using a large adjustable wrench on the square top of the tensioner and it worked great. There are some good posts on here if you're doing the stretch power steering belt also. Hope this helps.
  5. Stang93, Congrats! What type of maintenance are you doing and how often? Synthetic oil? Oil change interval, forgive me if you stated it already. Whatever you're doing is working!
  6. I've been using MC synthetic Blend in my 07 Edge (which has almost 100000) on it since I got it with 10k. It costs about $25 at Walmart including including Fram oil filter when I do it myself, 5 1/2 qts. I change it every 6k miles as it's mostly highway miles from commute. PaulSchott, what synthetic are you using and at what interval are you changing it? I'm thinking of going to full synthetic (Mobill 1?) since I'm getting up there in miles. Anyone have a synthetic they recommend?
  7. I just got home from a road trip and got 24.8 (all highway obviously) mpg so I guess my tune up was a success. Not bad for an 07 pushing 100k and Maine speed limits! Think I was getting around 22 before.
  8. TheWizard, I agree that CR's reports on new cars can be lousy and over simplified. Consumer Reports has engineers to evaluate the vehicles which is noteworthy , but if they don't like a feature (Sync) they will lower the rating considerably. One other note, their reliability ratings are based on subscriber surveys on their own cars and I think this is the most important automotive info they offer.
  9. On my 07 I tried green EBCs as an upgrade from the stock pads. They were disappointing, lousy bite and dirty. Then I got Hawks all around and I was surprised by the braking performance...and they are a lot less dusty than the EBCs! Highly recommended.
  10. Check Consumer Reports, 07 Edge above average reliability. Mine's been great to 95k, a couple things but nothing major at all....and quiet. CR has a BIG problem with The Sync/My Ford touch thing and it brings their overall ratings down big time on new Edges. I like CR as I think they are more unbiased than any mag (at least they don't have a inside cover opening ad for a 1990's Caprice and have it as car of the year in the same issue). In response to an earlier post, they don't always favor imports, in fact I've seen CR be very critical of them also. I would by my 07 Edge SEL in a heartbeat.
  11. The one I got from ebay was the most current at the time, a 12P. The one that came with the car was a 4P. Every couple years they upgrade the DVD with new roads, POIS etc. and send a flyer to entice you to buy the 150 dollar disc. I was looking on eBay to get a more current, but not necessarily the most current, Ford DVD. Any version should work in your 07 (that what I have with the stock Pioneer head unit). The one I got on eBay is a burn but it works perfectly. If you don't want to risk a burn, you should be able to buy a 8P real Ford DVD or so for a decent price. Just get any DVD in good condition and you'll be good to go.
  12. This is an old thread but I'll throw something out anyway. I've been using Mothers back to Black for the black trim on my 07 Edge and its been a decent way to keep the trim black. However, I just applied Re Nu pro and it has really impressed me so far. I used it for the front and rear lower panels, the antennas ( front and rear satellite) cowl panel, and rear wiper so far and they look wet black. I still need to do the lower rocker panel trim which I'm sure will make a big difference. I have the panoramic roof so I will apply it to the 2 trim pieces running the length of the roof. I don't have any wax residue on the trim, but the car is 7 yrs old so the trim is definitely fading. I'll post in a few months to see how it's holding up with the weather. It was $25 on Amz for the large size which is probably enough to do everything on the truck at least twice, maybe three times. My Edge is black so sometimes it's hard to see if I got some on the paint, but Windex will take it off before it dries, as per the directions. It's messy, but it comes with a pair of latex gloves, 2 applicators and a terry cloth. We'll see how it hold up.
  13. I noticed that my lift handle/trim panel on my lift gate for my 07 edge was loose. I think the 07s were the only hatches with no separate exterior indent handle on the bottom of the lift gate. The 07s have a release button and lift grip in the same place. I removed the inner trim panel of the hatch by removing the 4 screws in the 2 close handles on the bottom of the hatch and carefully pulling down the trim panel. It popped off very easily with no tools, much to my surprise. I tightened the trim panel with deep sockets and it tightened it up nicely. I then popped the trim panel back up, put the screws in the handles and slapped the panel tight. The trim panel is the hatch panel with the Ford emblem. I love this truck!

  15. Good info, I'm running MotorCraft Syn Blend at 6-7k Hwy interval (w/ filter) and I have 95k on my 07 Edge with no sweat. I know that doesn't answer your question regarding switching back but I think the two previous posts have cleared that up. I'm hoping to get 200,000 on my Edge and the way it's running I don't think it will be a problem.
  16. I just completed my plug change today, I also replaced the PCV valve while I had access to it. I have 94k and used OEM MC plugs. Mine is an 07 so it has the heated PCV valve. Great write ups already posted so I won't elaborate, thanks lowelanxd! As someone suggested, I replaced clamp on brake booster hose with screw clamp which made that a snap to reattach. With the PCV Valve replacement, insert the new valve facing the rear of the truck and rotate it about 90 degrees CW. This will ensure that the electrical connection can be made. I found the removal of the upper intake manifold to be much harder than the reinstall. My Edge was running great but I felt it was time for a plug and PVC change. I also had the cooling system flushed at the dealer ($140 +) and cleaned and recoiled my K & N air filter. Changed the drive belts a couple weeks ago, so hopefully My Edge will be rolling smooth for a while. Thanks to all that have contributed to this post.
  17. I have an 07 and I bought one off ebay for twenty bucks and it works great. I've had it for about a year with no problems.
  18. I bought my 2007 Edge SEL FWD from a private seller in '09 with 10k miles - black with black leather and panoramic roof, Nav and (stock Pioneer?)stereo with sub. I have 94k on it now with no major problems, in fact my wife and I agree that it's the best car we've ever owned. The brakes were not the greatest when we got it, low pedal, long stops times but I took in to Ford under warranty and they bled the system and it was better. Also on the brakes, I replaced the original with EBC green pads (new front rotors) and was very disappointed. They were dirty and responsiveness was mediocre. At 75k I repalced them with Hawk pads all around, new rotors in back, cut original front rotors. What a difference! Not a lot of dust and great stopping feel. Every couple years I clean the roof tracks and re grease them, and dont park under a tree with the roof open. Rear bulbs go every couple years, mositure gets in there. Replaced rear hatch struts at 80k when it sagged and I hit my head! about $60. Funny how you push the negatives out of your mind, but I developed a tranny leak in the cooler on the radiator and didn't have time to do it myself so that was $600. Repalced Tires at 90K with 4 Continental Eco plus 20 245/60R18 and I am really enjoying the ride and quiet. I use Motorcraft semi synthetic every 6000k mostly highway driving. Tranny clunks a little but seems better since I had fluid replaced when cooler was replaced. Great Road trip car, NY to Bar Harbor,ME and Wisconsin through UP of Michigan. I saw that in Consumer Reports the 2007 has had better reliability than the newer models so I guess I got lucky.
  19. Znow, the serpent belt could be done in a couple hours, most of the time taking the wheel and inner wheel well. If you could do it from above using diagrams that autom8r posted of the sevice manual to see the belt routing, it would take 10 minutes. The stretch belt took me about 15 min. once I got the correct belt from Ford. Just so you know, the service manual says to use a belt install tool, but the new belt came with zip ties and install instructions for same. Now that I've done it, I could probably do both belts in 2 hrs, but it would be a lot easier on a lift than in my driveway. The serp belt is easy, the stretch belt is a lot tougher. Hope this helps.
  20. I replaced all 4 tires on my 07 Edge SEL FWD 245/60R18 this spring with Continental LX20 Eco Plus and I am very satisfied with the ride and quietness. I have about 5k mi. on them and had them rotated. I find you need to be diligent on roating tires on this vehicle as I have 95k and have replaced the tires (in pairs) more than I'd like since I bought the car at 10k miles. Overall these Contis are wearing well and nice and quiet. About 200 cheaper (for 4) than the similarly rated Michilens too.
  21. SERPENTINE AND POWER STEERING BELT REPLACEMENT 2007 FORD EDGE: I just completed a replacement of both the serpentine (tensioner) and stretch power steering pump (no tensioner) belts this weekend on my 2007 Edge. The serpentine belt replacement is easy, the power steering belt was challenging. First disconnect neg. battery terminal and jack up front passenger side and remove wheel. Remove the screws and plastic fasteners on the front side of the wheel whell so you can pull it back and stick it behind the rotor out of the way. You might be able to do the sepentine belt without doing this step, but I only say that because I saw how everything was situated by seeing it through the wheel well. To move the tensioner, look for a rectangular metal piece about 1 'x 1/4" which is the top of the tensioner. It is between a cable bundle and coolant hose in the center of the photo. The service manual says to put a 3/8" breaker bar in the 3/8" hole in the side of the tensioner. I couldn't find a slim enough bar due to clearance with the wheelwell so I ended up putting a large adjustable wrench on the tensioner top, (which is square in profile) sticking up, and used a piece of pipe for leverage. The belt comes off easily. The power steering pump pulley is tougher to access since it is toward the back of the car and up a little higher. The power steering belt uses a pulley behind the serpentine pulley, so you have to remove the serp. to change the power steering (stretch) belt. I cut the power steering belt to remove it, but you can attach plastic strap and pry it off by rotating the crankshaft as you pull on the strap. The replacement I got online was not Ford and was smaller that the Ford belt so I would recommend getting the belt from a ford dealer. The part even cross checked good on the company's website. Although its a little pricey, you know you're getting the right one and it included tiewraps and instructions for the install. (For the serpentine belt I used an aftermarket with no problems). Since there is no tensioner for this belt, you must crank the pulley to get the belt on slowly, kind of like a bike gear chain derailer. To install the power steering stretch belt, first put the belt over the crankshaft back (closest to engine) pulley. Then put the belt in the bottom of the power steering pulley. When it is lined up properly in the pulley, insert a tie wrap through the pulley hole in the 6 o'clock position, then down under the pulley and back into the wrap tab. Tighten with pliers. This should securely attach the belt to the botom of the pulley. My belt came with 2 wraps so I used both right next to each other. With your left hand turn the power steering pulley CW and keep your finger on the belt to insure that it stays on the pulley as you rotate the crankshaft pulley. Put a 18mm socket and breaker bar on the crankshaft pulley and rotate it CW as you make sure the belt is fed properly into the other pulley with your left hand. Once the tie wrap gets to 10 or 11 o'clock, the belt will pop fully into the pulley. Don't rotate the crank anymore after this happens or you could damage the belt. I used a box cutter to carefully cut the tie wraps off. I then pulled the tensioner forward and held it there with a tie wrap and put the sepentine belt on and released the tensioner. I included a photo of the the install insructions. I like doing work on my cars, and the job cost $50 total, but this did not go as smoothly as I would have liked. Hopes this helps someone avoid some of the aggrevation I experienced.
  22. I'm looking for a simple bolt-in upgrade to the front and rear door speakers for my '07 Edge with the Audiophile with the sub. I've heard good things about the Polk Db-571. Has anyone installed these front and back with good results? I'm looking to improve the sound without breaking the bank. Thanks
