  1. When I lowered my Explorer I had it aligned at the Ford dealer, they were able to get the camber kit through Ford, when I lowered my Mustang I had it aligned at a tire store and they were also able to get the camber kit, I didn't wear tires on either vehicle. Both places did charge me extra to do the alignments as there is additional labor involved in the camber kits. Most places that do alignments should be able to get the parts that are needed to do the alignment so I wouldn't buy a kit yourself, I would let the shop get the parts that the need.

  2. thanks..i like your edge with the colored grill...i think i might do that to mine

Thanks, I think the colored grill really changes the looks of the Sport, I don't know why they don't come with it since that is the only chrome on the Sport model. I was glad that I could order the grille in color so I didn't have to have it painted.

  3. Does anyone know what size the rotors are on the Sport model, are they the same size as other models, The part list I have access to list 16" or 17" front but nothing larger.

    part number for 16" 7T4Z 1125 B, 17" 7T4Z 1125 A

    The rear list the 22" part number 9T4Z 2C026, 17",18",20" 7T4Z 2C026 A.

I am trying to find out if my 09 FWD Sport with 22" wheels has the 295mm or the 320mm rotors of if it has something else.

  4. do you have any pics of the damaged wheels, what company are they trying to have repair the wheels? Only cosmetic repairs are acceptable, if there is damage to structure of the wheel then they are not repairable. What state are you in? Do you have rental coverage? Did you talk with your agent or a claims team?

  5. Registered to stay informed about the new vehicle. Other than plastic wheel covers and seat cushions being a little thin, I really like the vehicle.

    thanks,

    railroad

Welcome, You have a nice looking MKX !!

  6. Took the Edge in for an oil change and to ask about the horrible smell coming from underneath. I let the service manager know I had done some research and asked if it was maybe the PTU. Unfortunately since I had been driving it all morning the smell had gone away. He said they would be happy to check it out while it was up in the air.

Not the PTU. It is the front axle seal that is leaking. Have to find a time to leave it for the day when I can hitch a ride to work so they can replace it, maybe Friday.

This is the dealer that was so helpful after I had a tire rotation at another dealer in October and the Edge was pulling hard to the left. He made sure the tech knew about the front tires being switched at that time to properly rotate them today. The service manager came into the waiting room and sat down with me to explain what the leak was. Made my day to be treated so well. So nice not to be talked down to and scolded like the other dealer has done twice. Going for service does not seem so scary anymore. happy%20feet.gif

That sucks that you are having a leak but good that you found a good service department to deal with. Most dealers don't have free loaner cars, Ford doesn't provide them for free unless you have the extended warranty but if you have a Lincoln product they give you a free loaner if they keep the vehicle over night, I think all dealers are different but this is what I have run into in my area (with having Ford and Lincoln products)

  7. Good advice. Sorry that happened to you and glad everyone is ok. Last week I was driving to work doing 55 and some jerk in a snow covered Jeep pulled out in front of me and had to slam on the brakes to avoid him while at the same time I was totally blinded by the snow flying off of his car. Appartently not just the roads that are dangerous in the winter.

Wow, that sucks. Yes, the snow coming off of roofs can blind you, there really is no excuse for not removing the snow on the roof of a vehicle (unless they are too large to reach the top) you just have to be so careful while driving in the winter.

Didn't you get him/her to pull over and exchange info for insurance purposes, ande ream the driver a new hole :censored:

I was on the highway and no good place to pull over, so I didn't know if or how much damage I would have, I had to go about 2 miles to the next exit. I did get there plates, It was a old couple and I don't think they even knew what happened. Most people wouldn't think about ice on there roof's. I don't know if the insurance can do anything about it but I will give them the info Monday.

I accidentally made a double post on this subject and thought I had posted photos but I guess I didn't so I will post them now.

  8. I just got back from a trip to Columbus and on my back I was passing a pickup truck pulling a big box trailer and all of the sudden a large sheet of ice came flying off the top of the trailer, I tried to swerve to miss it but it was flipping in the air and broke into several large pieces, I couldn't avoid all of them and one big piece hit the front on my Edge, the sound was terrible. I got to the next exit a couple of miles up the road and pulled over afraid to get out and look, I thought there would be a lot of damage. I am not happy about what I did find but at the same time I am glad it wasn't worse.

From what I can tell the lower spoiler is split/cracked, the lower grille is pushed back but I can't tell if it is broken or snapped out of the clips, the outside temp sensor is broken and the a/c condenser is bent. I was worried about the grille and bumper cover but at this time I didn't see any damage.

Just keep in mind when you are driving in cold weather and there are trucks with snow on them, watch out for flying ice. A few years ago I saw a full sized Dodge Ram that had a sheet of ice go through the windshield and tore up the roof and have tried to stay away from trailers on the highway, I was trying to get around this one but I wasn't fast enough.

  9. Just from looking at the 3d pics, there appears to be a edge around the top of the 3d lips that the sport doesn't have, the part numbers for the edge should be

    9T4Z17D957BPTM front

    9T4Z17K835APTM rear

The fog lamp bezels also appear to be different on the sport, there part numbers are

    9T4Z17E810APTM right

    9T4Z17E811APTM left

I don't have the prices, you should be able to check with a dealer.

  10. The only other ride we have currently is my work provided HHR. Not really any need for another vehicle right now since she drives the MKX and only works about 10 minutes from the house. They provide insurance on the HHR for her to drive it also and it's pretty much free gas so it gets plenty of use. KILLER job benefit! We generally drive the MKX on the weekends but if its snowy/rainy out and the MKX is clean this car gets used. I'm on my second HHR now and they get us a new one every 2 1/2 years or so:

Until recently I had this '07 F150 FX2 and although I loved it, it never really got driven and was just an extra payment and insurance so I sold it. Only had 8K miles on it in about 2 years of ownership. My dad and neighbors all have trucks I can borrow when I need one:

I am starting to realize that I'm getting bored without an extra vehicle to tinker with/modify so I have started looking for something else of my own to park in the garage. Been kind of eyeballing 2001-2003 F150 Lightnings for some reason...we'll see. Having only one vehicle and insurance payment for the both of us and being able to make extra house payments and other things is nice for awhile though!

I like the looks of the HHR but have never driven one. I really like the F150 you sold, I was looking at the same truck when they first came out with the FX package but never got one.

  11. I will probably start off with that, but having aftermarket rims means alot to me. Im not sure exactly what sizes look good on the Edge, but i dont like "rubber band" tires, I like a little bit of a sidewall.

and the aftermarket air intake will give a much better sound, and i beleive its an SRI which will be warmer air, but it wont have to travel as far.

you would be better off getting the Edge Sport with the 22" wheels, the tires have a decent sidewall and give a fairly good ride (for there size) if you don't like the wheels, you can still use the tires and should be able to get good money for the wheels if you sell them. The only problem with the sport is there are only 4 color choices.

  12. Yesterday i spoke with the police , the fire was an electrical fire .

It started between the driver seat and the passanger seat , there is a cigar lighter in the "box' or (elbow holder ?). This is not official , they gona send the paper work later.

Now the car is at the Ford dealer's garage they investigating too. Right now im really angry.....!!!!!

That sucks, I hope they find out what the cause is. Are they going to try to repair the Edge or is the damage too extensive? Is insurance going to pay?
