Hello to all! Just an update to my post..........recap.....2007 Edge...leaky gas tank...at the Ford Dealership since Nov. 3rd, 2014.....they gave me a loaner.....a new 2015 Ford Explorer.....I racked up 20, 000 km. Just received a call from the dealership advising my 2007 Edge will be ready on Friday and will be given back to me with the following repairs in Canadian Dollars: New Gas tank and fuel pump: Value $2,500 New Brakes, Rotors: Value $1,000 Brake Callipers Serviced: Value: $150 New Emergency Cables Value $200 New Battery: Value $200 New Engine and Transmission Fluids: Value: $200 Washed and detailed: Value: $125 Enterprise Loaner Rental: Value $7,000 Total: $11,375 My 2007 Ford Edge Mileage: 225,000 kms: Value: $10,000 Is this craziness or just good customer service!

From an inside source........a tidbit of information ........the dealers are being reimbursed 15 % by Ford if the dealers buy the ill stricken Ford Edges from the owners who elect to take the buy back deal. The source also says the gas tanks will be available in the fall....and mentioned Sept or Oct 2015........the buy back for my 2007 Edge with 225,000 km was estimated at 3500. ..... The source mentioned the dealers are in a position to negotiate additional repair costs to our rotting parked Edges in their lots to make them roadworthy again.....whatevever that means! The source said drive the free car and enjoy the ride while you have it! Oh well......another day!

Well .....another month has passed......and I am still driving the loaner car........not complaining....just saying! Has anyone heard anything about the gas tank situation and or offers from Ford about buy back scenarios? Happy Mothers Day to All!

Upon further reflection.........the Ford offer of buying my car at Fair Market Value....which I could get on my own........$2500 credit off the purchase of a ne Ford.....which is the price of the gas tank.......is really not an offer. However what is an exception offer was and is the use of a Loaner Car.......all in all.......I could be swayed if they doubled or tripled the cash credit! ......just saying! With all the things happening in the world...this seems trivial.... Best wishes from Canada to all!

Hello to all! Further to my previous post (87)...... I respectfully declined the offer and politely stated since my car was recalled by Ford and unsafe (Ford's words) to return it to me as is, I would wait for my car to be repaired. The Ford person ....replied back with a thank you and that his manager would be informed of my decline. As I sit ......or drive their car (LOL) and wait for the elusive gas tank......my Edge has been sitting in a Ford car lot all winter long perhaps not started and certainly rusting.....I live in Canada near the Buffalo New York border .....the brakes, rotors, bearings and just about anything else that is metal is rusting.......I anticipate some serious discussion about having my Edge returned to me in the same condition I left it as .....of course with the addition of a ne w gas tank! I would be interested in the thoughts of all that read this post. Have a great day!

Hello to all! I have the same problem with my 2007 Edge. I have the same story....leaky gas tank....took it into the dealer Nov 3, 2014...they said it was under recall and said they couldn't give it back to me because it was unsafe ....then gave me the keys to a new 2015 Explorer which is a Enterprise Rental vehicle. Today is April 9, 2015 and I still have the 2015 Explorer! I check back with the dealer monthly and it's the same answer......they don't know when they will get a gas tank! The Ford service manager has been told to say at least another 3 more months ...but that's a guess! So today I get a call from the Ford dealer sales person and was told of a special,offer by Ford to the effected Edge leaky gas tank owners......Ford is offering to give me Fair Market Value "not trade in value" estimated by a 3rd party , plus $2500 if I purchase a new Ford. I now realize that Ford never intended to get new gas tanks for the Edge and will "wait it out" because it probably cheaper this way, I also got a flyer in the mail from Enterprise Rental containing a $750 coupon on the purchase of a new Ford! Hello all! I just purchased a used 2007 Edge SEL optioned out with a trailer package with 105,000(km) Niagara Falls Canada I take delivery of it on Feb 6. It appears to be in immaculate one owner / off lease condition. my question to the Edge community is what should should I be concerned about / particularly inspect on the Edge before I take delivery of it.
