Hey Everyone!

We just signed for a (tuxedo black of course) 2013 Edge Limited AWD (w/navigation and panoramic vista roof)... pretty excited to pick it up! Luckily they had one on the lot so Tuesday is the big day. I'm coming from a Mazda6 so it's a pretty decent change.

I've been reading a lot on the forum and basically when I first saw the edge I was so excited... then I read this forum about the MyFord Touch issues and was about to forget about the car, then I test drove one and really got some time to play with the system -- I was hooked! The concept of having this much control over my car is amazing.

I've already learned a lot from this forum and can't wait to keep being part of it.

The best with your new Edge. Tuesday isn't that far away, but it will probably seem like forever. Do yourself a favor, and before you leave the sdealership, do a careful inspection to make sure there are no nicks/scratches, etc. Also, have your salesperson explain how eveything works.

When I got my MKX, our salesman must have spent close to an hour going over everything, and also paired our phones, and made sure we knew how to use everything.

Picked it up and all went well. Love it so far! So many things to learn, but that's the fun part for me. Looking forward to browsing the forum and learning a ton.

Now the choice of whether or not to buy the premiumcare to protect all these gadgets screens and gizmos :)

I would go with the premium care, especially if you plan to keep it more than 3 yr / 36,000. Today's repairs don't come cheap, especially with all the electronics. Some people don't believe in it, but I say, it's like term life insurance.........damned if ya do, and damned it qa don't ! :headspin:

That's what I'm thinking. Still hard to get over the "warranty is a sucker's gamble" thought, but when I play with all the screens and see all the cameras, sensors, and high tech components I shudder to think what it would cost to replace even one of those. Especially the memory seats. My wife is much shorter so every time we switch the seat and mirrors must move a lot to match our sizes.3-4 years of that every day will take it's toll.

Oh well, I've got some time to decide anyway... for now I'm driving it every chance I get!

Let me add a comment about Ford's Premium care. I had it on my previous ride, a '06 Explorer limited, which I was very happy with, BUT..................in the last year of ownership, rear wheel bearing went, dealer went to repair, and axle split. wiring harness after rear seat shorted out, and a number of other things. Service rep said if I didn't have the ESP plan, repairs would have cost me over $4,400, so for me, it was worth getting the extended warranty. Hope this helps you "think things over".
