  1. It's a Ford glitch -- iOS can't change the car's input selection by itself. Here's hoping Ford fixes it quickly!
  2. The Apple imposed restriction (by design, and under the pressure of distracted driving laws popping up) is that you can't give it a command that requires powering the screen on, looking at, or interacting with your phone (literally, it has to be 'Eyes Free'). The assumption they make is that opening any app would require turning the screen on and further interaction by the user, which is why that entire feature is "locked out". That doesn't explain the post-pandora command bug you're seeing though but since it's a Siri response it looks like an Apple issue.
  3. Tacyon, Your problems aren't a Ford restriction -- it's entirely Apple. All MFT does is pass through your voice to the phone and your iPhone handles the rest. Holding the voice button only triggers the direct connection to the phone. Here's what worked for me. In Settings > Touch ID & Passcode, make sure all toggles are enabled (voice dial, and all the "allow access when locked").
  4. Stupid question (sorry!) but are these the newest maps? How old are the A6 maps? How much shipping to Canada? (ballpark cost). Thanks
  5. Saying someone can use "almost anything on it" is hyperbole. Yes, it opens up some data if your phone gets into the wrong hands, but remember that it's an optional feature that can be disabled to provide 100% protection.
  6. Fantastic, thanks micanuck... worked perfectly. I also had Siri disabled when locked (d'oh!) What a great community this is
  7. Successful update for me -- thanks Ford! However, holding the vioce button for three seconds doesn't start Siri. Wondering if it's because I have an Apple Watch? I wonder if that interferes with it as the watch can use Siri too.
  8. Good point, but keep in mind though that QNX in general is very stable. It's used in nuclear power plants, international space station (canadarm), trains/subways, etc. Now that's not to say that Ford won't get their hands in it and bloat it up... but the foundation and opportunity is much much better than what the current MFT system is based on!
  9. ...don't forget about the nasty and annoying bug that often resets the interior lighting color back to default when you restart the car. Seems minor but has a huge impact on the annoyance factor of MFT.
  10. In my 2013 Limited, I can't stand the sound quality of Sirius. I've had a few free trials and can't listen to it for more than 5 mins. The compression is so bad that the highs are so muddy and overall it's all compressed... very painful to listen to. I've heard it's the Edge stereo doing this, but after researching the sound compression rates online, I believe it averages in the ~95kb/s range (while a good quality MP3 is encoded at 320kb/s). Even with a good stereo I'd be surprised if I could ever be happy with the Sirius sound.
  11. Yeah black is sweet on a black Edge.
  12. If you only knew the lack of security and apparent "hackability" of any automatic system like this that can control your brakes you'd think twice about it. The automotive industry hasn't learned anything about security... mark my words, it's only a matter of time until people are seriously injured or killed by a security related incident involving systems like this. In-car wireless (wifi/bluetooth) + computer systems with no security that control brakes = recipe for disaster
  13. welcome! you'll love it... pics!
  14. My issue was fixed completely... they replaced the entire shifter. It's apparently the exact same part though, so I'm almost guaranteed to have this issue in 2-3 years again, argh.
  15. My 2013 Edge is going in to get this fixed tomorrow morning. The service adviser had heard of this issue and didn't waste time investigating it too much... he ordered the part and made the next appointment quickly! Here's hoping all goes well!
