jbswear
Like many owners, I've had both of the rear turn signal sockets burn due to piss poor design. I've replaced both. Now my left rear/brake light isn't working. I've switched the light sockets AND I've replaced the connector. And then switched out the sockets. Still no go. Is this a known issue? If so, is it something that can be fixed at home or does it require a shop's raping?

akirby
You said you switched the light sockets and connectors, but you didn't say anything about replacing the bulb.
jbswear
Yes, I replaced the bulb. I assumed that would have been...assumed.
akirby
Yes, I replaced the bulb. I assumed that would have been...assumed. I've done computer troubleshooting for 30 years. NEVER assume, always ask.
akirby
Did you check the CHMSL? Sometimes the wiring is connected.
jbswear
Did you check the CHMSL? Sometimes the wiring is connected. I looked up CHMSL--that's the center light, right? It's connected and works. What else should I look for? Oh, and on the asking part. I understand completely! akirby
I would go back and make sure you're getting power to the socket - if not it's a fuse or wiring or module issue. If you are getting power then it's a bulb/socket/connector.
jbswear
I just realized that I forgot to mention a very important bit of information: The running light on that socket works, but the turn/brake signal does not. The front left turn signal works. Does this make a difference? There is power to the socket.
akirby
Is it the same bulb? If so then make sure you have the right bulb with 2 filaments (I'd verify the part number and replace it just to be safe). Otherwise check both wires for power at the socket. I can put it into the right side socket and it works, both brake/turn and running light. Put it in the left socket and only the running light works. I'll break out the multimeter.
