driving with rear driveshaft removed

Recommended Posts

I have 2011 ford edge, it has a u joint in driveshaft seized which is inducing a very noticeable vibration while driving. With the edge the driveshaft u joints cannot be replaced the whole driveshaft must be replaced. I am waiting for parts, may take a couple weeks to get in from local ford dealer, wondering if it is ok to drive with driveshaft disconnected and removed until parts show up?

I know that the front wheels are mainly being driven the majority of the time and the rear wheels only receive power when require for traction, From what I understand there is a fuse that controls power being delivered to rear wheels, maybe I should pull this fuse as well? any idea where it is located?
