Poorboy Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Share Posted April 23, 2008 well, a ford dealer mechanic said the nose comes from (he thinks) the AWD drive train, and that it is "normal." I do not agree. The service manager said they cant do anything unless it gets worse?!?! Is anybody with an AWD edge hear this sound? a faint whistle like a bomb falling sound effect. Christopher Jay Dunning Posted December 30, 2013 Report Share Posted December 30, 2013 This noise just started on my 2008 AWD Limited. It is a higher frequency whistle/hum and it always happens around 40-45 mph. It doesn't get louder though, stays pretty constant. At about 50mph it disappears or blends in with road noise. Not sure if this is a fuel pump thing, was also thinking rear axle or bearing noise? This thread is pretty old and I'm curious if you've resolved this problem yet?
