Amedaius Posted yesterday at 11:29 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 11:29 AM I recently purchased an Edge ST and there are several pieces of interior trim in high gloss piano black that are posing a bit of a problem. They are around the center console shifter, and happen to reflect the sun directly into my eyes quite often. I searched around and there are no simple or ready-made fixes, at least that I could find, I was hoping for a finishing product or film that I could apply to protect and dull the surface, as the sun being reflected is a nuisance and possibly a safety concern. Does anyone know of a solution or have solved the issue of excessively reflective interior surfaces? Maybe a satin or matte wrap product? Any solutions would be welcome, thanks.
dabangsta Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:04 PM I have found some "shift panel covers" on Amazon. Matte and carbon fiber look. I normally wrap these but haven't so far, but it is annoying, especially if you have the pano roof and either the cover open, or the roof open.
Amedaius Posted yesterday at 02:08 PM Author Report Share Posted yesterday at 02:08 PM Interesting, I'll check it out. When you wrap them, do you remove the panel to wrap or no? Thanks again.
1004ron
I'd like to see what you guys go with and where to get it - it was a major distraction when I first bought the car, the reflections of trees and buildings in the piano black. Amedaius
It's a shame the auto start/stop, park assist, etc button cluster is permanently affixed to the panel, because its fairly easy to buy and replace the panel itself with a different trim level that has a patterned or satin finish. That panel is also pretty cheap. I did find some replacement panels/covers around but although they were nice looking, they all seem to be glossy and likely to be almost as big of a problem. I will probably find a satin finish wrap or even plastidip. Both are completely reversible and the panel is easy to remove. If I am proud of the result I'll post it here (lol). I am also tossing about an idea of getting a satin/flat print removable decal and trimming it to fit the panel to add some individuality to the interior. EDIT: to clarify, the biggest problem surface that I am worried about is the panel around the shifter knob, the other little trim pieces are small enough/angled enough so that I don't have too much of a problem with the sun reflecting. 1004ron
The only part I'd like to change is the one around the cup holders. A good decal would work from me.
