Dim instrument lighting

Recommended Posts

There must be someway to make the instrument lighting it's brightest all the time. The change in brightness to dim makes it impossible to see. Even in bright daylight if the lights were at their brightest they would be easier to see. Couldent the module for them be overridden somehow?

Simply put, no. The GEM/SJB doesnt have a setting for brightness when lights are on. The IC has no option either. One option that would work would be to find out how it dims it and apply the opposite of what its applying. The only problem is that then your gauge lights wouldnt turn on.

Why do you really need to be looking at the message center while driving anyway?

It would certainly be nice to be able to glance at what the outside temp is and what radio station I have. Now that I have driven it more I can remember that the speedometer hand indicates 60 mph if it is straight up

I guess I was spoiled because I traded in a Chrysler T&C that had an overide switch that kept the instrument lights their brightest at all timeds.

YEP… kind of makes you wonder why they put clocks, external temperature, radio station info, etc.

Makes my wife nervous when I lean over shade the display with my hand and tell her “look it’s 101 at 11:00!”

But that’s the world we live in.

Have you ever wondered why these cheaper “point and shot” cameras are called “POINT (and guess what the picture will have in it) and shot?”
