Updating Sync / MyFord Touch

I'll ask this here because the "Sync Forum" only seems to contain folks with pre-2011 Syncs (missing the MyFord Touch feature)....

 

Has anyone gone to the syncmyride.com website and downloaded the update. I did, and it said there was an update. I downloaded it and successfully installed it on my 2011 Ford Edge. Then, I brought the USB stick back to my desktop to "report successful install" but I got an error uploading the report.

 

Ford Chat help did NOT help. They said I didn't need an update - I get the impression the chat folks are not as knowledgable on MyFord Touch.

 

I also emailed Sync - which is what it says to do if there's an error when reporting successful installs -- and I'm waiting to hear back.

 

Anyway, I'm curious ... has anyone else successfully done an update? and successfully reported it back to their sync web account?

are you sure that you need an update? It wouldn't appear that you'd need to update a 2011 Edge with the myFordTouch yet. I know they're installing it wirelessly now as it rolls down the assembly line and they're likely using the newest updated version.

 

I normally wouldn't think I'd need an update either, but the sync website showed what I have installed as of August 10 (presumably at the factory), then showed that an update is available too -- with a newer version number.

 

I did hear back from Ford via email saying I don't need an update. (The Sync website still says otherwise.)

I agree with those guys. I actually had a 2010 Edge and successfully completed the update from syncmyride.com and received the "successful upload report." I did not think to upload the software to the MyFord Touch because I believe it is a different system. I wonder if they will start a new website for those with MyFord Touch.
